Inside Information
- Anywhere without Druggies
- We used to hang out at the 'viewpoint' carpark by the cemetry on Christchurch road and get smashed on stolen sherry.
- mezze lounge great place for the chilled out people, live bands etc, plasma screens,
ott's great music open till 2 like mezze.
La Bambas sexy and sophisticated cocktails, bongo bashing
- I like the 'information shop' above, who clearly wrote their own entry.
- Sum ppl meet buy the statues on high street outside starbucks... i wonder who those loosers are?
- during the day an ideal place to meet is at the Mouth of Truth in the In-Shops. Does the job for me. Also helps me decide on why i'm meeting anyone in the first place too
- By the Church at Christchurch lovelly spot where you can see a great fun stretch of woods n rivers. Take a picnic ; ) and run riot in the wilderness, for those nice hot summer daze... Oh yes.
- What was the best place in the world, is now a congregation of sweaty wannabe's.
TJ's is a gr8 place to go if thier is a gig or something. Rock, punk, ska its all there sometimes. But watch out for the townies though.
Cambrian Carpark, popular with sk8as! Go there, have a laff and come out all bloodied and bruised. Damn that concreate hurts.
- the castle ruins by the bridge by the riverbank is where loads of mini moshers hang out getting pissed on the famous "white lightening" cider. come on we all done it once!
- TJ's,has some great bands now and again, and when alan's there its a laugh. the art college too
- down by the swings in bellvue park innit clart smokin the draw drinkin the special brew you knows it like. otherwise just by dragon taxis or outside of the kebab shops safe as fuck
- The Pig outside the market.. Everyone seems to loaf there now it seems (if you are under 16 anyway).. though in my youth (heh) we used to hang around eveswell school and the surrounding area..
- All us butty boy hang out side of mac des
- That new information shop is kewl, it's just for young peeps (NO OLDIES!!!!!) and you can go on the internet and stuff and it's free. The staff aren't wrinkly and don't hassle you, and when my mates dad beat the shit out of her they helped her out by talking to her and things.
- Freestyle.the skate shop. everyone hooks up here before going elsewhere. there is always soneone in the shop willing to skate.
- I know everyone has said it already but TJ's used to be the best place in the
world and regardless of that the fact that the people who believed in the place
are now mixed in with a load of townies from the wrong side of the bridge - it
will always be the best - thanks to John Cicolo and Alan for making some of the
best memories of my youth and the greates nights of my life - all the magor sk8
crew salute you!
- TJS--- The best music place in Newport! The people are a great bunch and anything goes in there! Everyone is friendly! the only bad thing is when all the trendy dickheadf wankers come down from their little shit hole called ZANZIBAR thinking Tj's is great and wander around the place like they own it and then start fights and cause loads of trouble and bring all their drugs down too!!!!.
- Unless you're old enough to go to the pubs (which I am thank God!) there isn't really anywhere - you could hang out with the Kappa slappers in the bus station, or with the sweaties by the castle , then there are the scary looking kids in John Frost Square and the ones who wander around town in gangs looking like they should still be bottle fed.
- First of all there are not loads of Gay pups in newport, Newport is not shit and it is brilliant for skating and the people are a brilliant laugh, Anyone who can say something bad about newport obviously hasn`t lived here very long or at all and knows nothing about the local skate scene.
- Newport is pretty cool for clubs and pubs - it is said that there are over 50 pubs in newport town centre alone withing 1/4 mile radius. There are diferent clubs with varying music - TJ's for the punk rockers to Voodoo for the extream dancers. Newport is a good place for fun - with plenty of curry houses and kebab places so you can eat to your hearts content when you have drank to your hearts content. Oh by the way there are also gay pubs etc in newport so...if you are into all of that then you are not alone.
- Cambrian Car Park, Civic center, anytime weekends, around 4:00 - 5:00 weekdays
- Rockaway records for punky types
the castle for goths and dope smokers
the wave(sculpture) for alcoholics and winos
But you can ALWAYS get into pubs and clubs in Newport reguardless of age
- The docks!!!! Need we say more.........
- The statue of some local historical geezer (in-between the Midland and NatWest banks) seems to be a popular place for shell suit wearing youths to gather at the weekend
- Zanzibar, place for having a fat night out!!! Livid tunes, groovy interior and sound dance floor!! :)
- erm, the bus station seems to attract the youth of today...

What is Knowhere?
The Knowhere Guide started out as a list of places to skateboard in the UK. It is a compilation of (unedited) information and views supplied by users like yourself. It is not a conventional tourist guide!
In most cases, the information in each section has been submitted by more than one contributor
(the credits at the bottom of the page list some, but not all, of the contributors) and some of it dates back to the 1970s.
We make no claims as to the accuracy of the information in the Guide - our only purpose is to provide a forum for users to share their knowledge and opinions. So please keep a large bag of salt handy and be prepared to read between the lines!
If you disagree with a comment, or information is out of date, please submit an update! The contributors come from all walks of life, and their opinions are bound to be subjective, so if your view isn't represented, please speak up and contribute to the balance of the Guide. See below in the 'Have Your Say' section for how to add your voice.
Have Your Say...
The Knowhere Guide depends entirely on real users for information. Please feel free to join in.
You can tell us more about Newport.
This is also the method to use if you want to correct some of the information already here.
(But please remember you're not mailing the person who actually wrote whatever-it-is.)
You can use the add an event form to tell us about events happening in Newport.
If you are unhappy with any of the content on this page, turn on the flags.
Or, if you'd just like to leave a message for other users of this site, take a look at The Knowhere Board (handy if you're just trying to get in touch with someone).
