Hookup Spots

  • cemetry rd graveyard!
  • king edwards is okay, or the forum is a groovy place
  • Not born in sheffield
  • we always meet at peace gardens it lives up to its name!!!
  • Nowt wrong with the Wybourn estate, unless your some pussy boy whos too scared to even look a 14 year old boy in the eye, obviously who wrote the first comment was exactly that. a small group of youths doesnt represent the whole estate, dont be niave and grow up. try visiting places that deals with social exclusion and poverty aid, then comment u posh wanker, until then hush up yeh.

  • RIGHT first of all there are no moshers or goths on city hall now because of the new security, and second devonshire green used to be the place for punks and alternatives (not goths)but now its jam packed with chavs and smack heads and they like causing shit. now if you go on there youll either get jumped or arrested.
  • the common massive
  • Orchard Square - lovely benches to sit in the sun while waiting!
  • Devvy Green is good, muggers and shit been there since i was skating there at 15 tho, just go in a group and you should be cool.
  • bents green
  • a great place we 'hook up' (laughs) would be the devonshire green skatepark. that place is ace! It's at the end of division street, and thats quite frankly my fave spot in Sheffield. Down Division street you have some great shops for alternative fashion and skateboarding equipment etc, then theres the skatepark at the end on the green! The only problem would be that its quite close to brammel lane *shivers* Come on Sheff Wednesday!
  • thers a new skate park in sheffield at millhouses park its great no half or quater pipes just rampes the scenes really positive down ther. real first class guys all hang out down ther all of em will be willing to help you with bmxing great place just gets a bit flooded with kiddies and amatuer skaters
  • devvy green
  • -> You got Devonshire green, near division street, The Botanical gardens near Ecclesall road and The peace gardens near the town hall are nice hangouts. All nice places spring summer autumn time.
  • If people havent worked out already all the alternative crew have been kicked off the city hall steps (apparently causing a public disturbance) Most people seem to hang on Devi Green... Even if your not into the skating/bmxing there is always plenty of totty male/female(excluding the pregnant 14 year olds) a few tramps and townies getting in fights. Pretty much always an entertaining afternoon reacuring riot police some drunk skater falling out of a tree and Sambo mambo falling down the the big skater steps all well remain firmly in our memories for endless summers. Most people in the evening head off to corp - its a hole but dont underestimate... Monday nights 50p a vodka mixer The music can be pretty shoddy but monday night cheap night can have some pretty sweet music
  • Street corners on the Wybourn housing estate. A fine place to purchase any substance, get into a fight, be stabbed, shot or if you want simply abused. Gangs of 4 - 30 year olds stand on streets, from 19:00 - 05:00, spending their dole money and trying to forget how hideous and void of anything worthwhile their lives are.
  • city hall steps: THE place 2 go 4 all alternatives. Goths, moshers, punks, u name it. Occasionally they'll wander up 2 beef mountain which is right nxt 2 city hall or 2 Devvy Green on a nice day, but mostly city hall.
  • Gleadless Town End - but they'd screwed the little buggers by knocking down the library, banning em from the snooker club and getting the coppers on the estate! Nice one.
  • Corners of Jessops hospital.
  • city hall steps r great but watch out for the cops at devonshire green that r there all through the day now mainly cos of the 5 or 6 lads that r down there trying to have away with anything they can get there hands on. THEY DID STAB ME SO BEWARE. but the cops will bust u for havin a toke so keep your eyes open.
  • Endcliffe park, for when the sun comes out in sheffield!
  • The ideal place to hang around is "division street" its a quality street its got great shops for all u moshers out there and a nice out door skate park where u can just chill and get high whilst watching people skating around.
  • For the skater kids like I: the main hang outs tend to be places like the city hall steps, outside peak performance in orchard square, outside virgin or anywhere on division street/devonshire street, especially the forum and the park & skate park just round the corner. for the townies: theres the peace gardens and thats about it
  • The top of the Moor (Outside McDonalds) you'll find your type of peepholes and where thay're going.
  • oooh, the best place by far has to be devonshire quarter (home to the forum) get feeling all bohemian!
  • Who want to go art in dee dar land with all them strange-voiced freaks? What dar dooin deer den dee? Stop at ooerm or go to t'Tarn for proper entertainment.
  • Dore Village (The Recreation ground!)A place for low life losers lookin 4 a fight or a shag! U can only go there if ya THINK YA HARD ENOUGH!!!!!!! Also u hav 2 cheat on ya girlfriends wid sad mingin people dat look like horses! Da place 2 b on Halloween!
  • Well thats got to be The devenshire skateparkor the city hall steps everyone is really freindly evan if u don't know them u should go down on Saterday/ Friday night and have a laf/bong
  • Can't believe no-one's mentioned the permanent installation of skaters in Tudor Square outside the Crucible. Also a good place for spotting the glitterati performing at the theatre i.e. earlier this year that included Joseph Fiennes (Ralph also made it to one performance *sigh*) and next year there'll be the chance to spot the lovely Kenneth Branagh.
  • the big tree on the cadet field ( not a pub, a real tree ) make rope swings, smoke herbs and sledge in the winter
  • The peace Gardens/Club Wow
  • outside the city hall is usually a pretty good place to hook up
  • Gotta be Meersbrook Park a lot of smackheads on swings
  • Basically Charvas then?
  • The Peace Gardens, especially in summer or at night (but they have a security guard).
  • Sainsbury's
  • a comprehensive guide to sheffield skate spots can be found at: http://megalinks.net/~betamax/horse/places/sheff/index.html
  • Steps of the City Hall. Currently advisable to be a skateboarder or member of lo-fi pop band with a healthy interest in Kraftwerk, but hey...
  • Orchard Square, particularly around Waterstones
  • Safeway's car park.
  • Goodwin Fountain, or Fargate Fountain, great for meeting people, whether you know them or not, or just for sun bathing and watching the world. I don't know where I'll sit if they do knock it down.
  • Note: now the the Goodwin fountain has been removed (to be put in the new peace garden apparently..) people are saying they'll meet at the ex-fountain. sheffielders just roll with the punches, man. cool.

What is Knowhere?

The Knowhere Guide started out as a list of places to skateboard in the UK. It is a compilation of (unedited) information and views supplied by users like yourself. It is not a conventional tourist guide!

In most cases, the information in each section has been submitted by more than one contributor (the credits at the bottom of the page list some, but not all, of the contributors) and some of it dates back to the 1970s.

We make no claims as to the accuracy of the information in the Guide - our only purpose is to provide a forum for users to share their knowledge and opinions. So please keep a large bag of salt handy and be prepared to read between the lines!

If you disagree with a comment, or information is out of date, please submit an update! The contributors come from all walks of life, and their opinions are bound to be subjective, so if your view isn't represented, please speak up and contribute to the balance of the Guide. See below in the 'Have Your Say' section for how to add your voice.

Have Your Say...

The Knowhere Guide depends entirely on real users for information. Please feel free to join in.

You can tell us more about Sheffield. This is also the method to use if you want to correct some of the information already here. (But please remember you're not mailing the person who actually wrote whatever-it-is.)

You can use the add an event form to tell us about events happening in Sheffield.

If you are unhappy with any of the content on this page, turn on the flags.
