Skateboarding Spots

• go to crystal peaks its just down the road from me and the security doesnt seem to bother you that much i skated there for about 3 hours last saturady morning and no one said a thing. some amazing ledges/rails/stairs and more car park than you can dream of. to geth there get the halfway tram from town and get off a crystal peaks tramstop have a walk around and you will se everything. also go to the drakhouse retail park wich is within spitting distance of crystal peaks peace out
• MILLHOUSES SKATEPARK is an extremely good skatepark which is good for everyone from begginer to pro skaters it has no quaters but ledges banks driveways 2 killer hips and a lot of other good stuff. the only bad thing is if you go in the day its full of little kids and bmxers but the legendary tesco car park is always empty and only a 2 minute skate away.
• st thomas canterbury school on meadowhead on a little lane near the wagon and horses garage its got ledges a 2 set a 3 set a bigish gap please come at around 2 pm and annoy my teachers please perfect for beginers
• Dont go to st james car park. Got security people doing checks.
• Sharrow lane, dope stair to gap to bank setup. Get yo hammers down.
• lowedges cosscutter stairs big ledges and tall but short rails and devvy millhouses for the beginers ther house is pretty good too and cookson ifr you don't mind being attacked by chavs
• DO NOT go to the new cookson skatepark, i had my board robbed by a little chav, i ran after him and kicked 10 bells out of him. Its a good park in an EXTREMELY rough area, dont go unless you are expecting trouble. Please take my word for it.
• it was all abot the walking man back in the day, before your time perhaps but that spot was fat. there was always the fountain, watch ya back for the old time guard! too many good times had, we miss sumo. peace out all original sheff boys. grove your gay.
• Devvy Green is good, muggers and shit been there since i was skating there at 15 tho, just go in a group and you should be cool.
• the house skatepark near ski village, dev green skate park, the street near city hall are all good
• highcliffe rd...........the 1 in 7 gradient challenges the most gifted skate boy/girl
• DO NOT go to devvy green sk8 park, its shit. its bumpy, boring and the corner bowl doesnt even have coping. However there is the ledges, the top one is fooking massive, other than that it is shit.
• check out kelvin bowl in sheff near Hillsbrough, its probaly been mentioned time n time again bt its a gnarly little hidden park deep in scalliville... be sure to have the police on hold mind, as its a bit ruffi'en like.If ur intown, hop on a tram headin towards malin bridge n dispart at infirmarary road n then carry on down the road till u see plenty of trees n its hidden behind them!
• Devionshire green skate park at the end of division street, or The House, down round the peace garden & fountains is a good spot too, but you'll possible get done for skating there lol
• go to st james' just near the city hall.go about 6 at night.

• a good place in sheffield is dwon at crystal peaks near the near the bp petrol station there are some good stairs to TRY and ollie down i smashed my board there once but watchout there is a security gaurd hanging around after closing time so Beware he will tax you board
• Skate Dronfield It is the greatest place ever gosforth school has a flatbank and loads of stets. Fanshawe school has every size stair set and rails. Civic center has everything GO THERE IT IS REALLY GOOD
• jordanthorpe shop precint, real nice 7 and a nice little 3, manual pads, nice little bank (good for flips),waxed curb that has a increasingly banking ledge next to it. little green wood things good for slides.
• virgin active on brodfeild way next to helly swimming pool is great some curbs and gaps plus lots of wood and crates to make ramps . peace out . mikey
• -> There's devenshire green again. Has quite a nice skate park. Also accros town is The House skatepark, thats near the ski village down from Penistone road.
• DRONFIELD rules go there - gossy school - fanshaw school - sainsburys - land - civic centre - cally white lane gaps - factories go there
• If your a skater hu loves a nice flat session with nice waxed curbs, easy manual pads, flatbanks,nicest gap you have ever known(tesco gap)and loads of shit like those red blocks you lot see in town and think " i wana sk8 those man" come 2 tesco on abbydale road across from sainsbrys on archer rd. we never get kicked off its a phat sk8 me and my mateds sk8 there every nite and have connections all over sheffield. Come down and join teh fun. Its lit up at night as well by floodlights in the over flow where cars never park so hurry up !!!
• This is a message to all skaters\bmxers\inliners and anyone who wants to go the devonshire bowl without getting abuse from the knobheads who seem to plague that place. just remember, there are more of you than them, if they give you shit then act together and beat the shit out of them. dont be scared cos they are fucking pussies, anyway, a skateboard can be a good weapon. skaters\riders have taken too much shit in the devonshire already.
• There is a skatepark thing on Sky Edge playing fields, next to the Wybourn. Its great if you don't mind dodging the joyriders, or being shot at, or being attacked by idiots for wanting to do something other than sign on, get frunk and produce hoards of unwashed scrubbers.
• Theres devonshire bowl which is quite good but you have to watch out for muggers, this is on devonshire green on division street theres also loads of street you just have to look around heres a few (the crucible, ponds forge,wicks(wall ride),city hall.
• EVERYPARK IN SHEFFIELD
• reedmens car park on chesterfield road. 3 massive curbs all waxed. best when closed. gaps and stuff to ollie. always wood or wot av ya there to be inventive with. always skaters there, mostley kids. and shops accros the road for the ever needed drink or snack.
• The House, is a huge skating house 4 u suicidal skaters. Devonshire Green sk8 park is da best place 2 go.

• the skate park round the corner from the forum is a good spot to go when your in town,just for abit of fun. its also a cool place to just sit and hang out plus its near all the cool alt. shops, what more could a skater kid ask for!

• devonshire green, the house. both really friendly atmospheres. the house is good for little kids too, they have a 'mini house'
• The House. Best place ever in Sheffield for Skating. They've got a beginners area for all those starting out, and also sell skateboarding merchandise.
• Sainsburys on Archer road is a ultra sketchy psycho spot with a few rails, manual pads, waxed curbs and blocks but the floor is shit. The security guy usually kicks you off but at night there's usually some nob head townies to watch out for.
• u should also try hillsborough barracks for curbs steps and other crap! we are trying to start a group of peeps down there if u wanna come down email me nadinbumblebee@aol.com we aint god but have only been going a few months.....i am a designer of skate logos so we could even start a team with personalised decks?!?

• RUMOURS OF A NEW SKATEPARK BEING BUILT IN MILLHOUSES PARK IF THEY GET ENOUGH CASH + THE HOUSE RULES OVER 6400 MEMBERS!!!!!
• We've finally got a skatepark! Devonshire green area near Sumo. Very small but great atmosphere. Banks and pipes all leading into the center fun box. Leges and rails.
• A cool quiet spot is Tesco on Abbydale Road near the park. More open space than most skate parks as there is is a Park+Ride car park that no one uses. Gap from the normal Car Park 2 Park+Ride car park. Natural launch ramp. Smooth curbs. Benches inside the Park+Ride shelter (only use if no one is waiting for a bus as the'll chuck you off! If a trolly pusher tells you to go just call him 'trolly boy' and he'll threaten to give you a 'good hidin' when he's off duty! Nob head!
• Tesco is tha bomb! (On Abbydale road opposite Sainsbury's-Archer Road) Gap from main car park to lower level park and ride car park. A natural launch ramp over a barrier (someone bacside fippped it in sidewalk). The usual curbs + manual block. And finally a huge paper bin dropping onto the car park (if your a bit crazy!).
• HEY THERES A GREAT HOOK UP SPOT IN ROTHERHAM MOORGATE OUTSIDE THE TOWN HALL THERE A RAIL AND CONCRETE BENCHES. ITS USUALLY ABOUT 4PM AND ITS A GRET LAUGH AND THERES A BIT OF CONCRETE IN THE SHAPE OF VERT ITS GREAT!!!!!!! COME DOWN SOMETIME.
• Absolutely anywhere in Walkely, Handsworth.
• The HOUSE skatepark has become MUCH better in the past few months having sorted out the nasty concrete floor by - coveringit ALL in plywood!! Nice move lads. They have also sorted out the deathly midi ramp by giving it a little more flat bottom. Once they sort out the spine, it should be pretty damn good!
• Nice benches and grindable bits in Endcliffe park. Also, lots of street spots around Sharrowvale road. The House skatepark has been done up a bit recently, with a nice new mini-ramp. Its slowly getting better - support it! New Peace gardens in the city centre are a skaters heaven - if you can dodge the numerous security guards. King Edward VII lower school has a good collection of steps/benches and handrails, and a nice flat area for messing about on. Good pubs nearby too!
• good wallie bar on Fargate.(cobbly run up though) San Francisco style bumps on junction rd, Hunters bar. Dont bother with 'the house' skatepark. it is truly awful. i'd rather skate in the rain, honestly.
• Graves tennis and leisure centre - Norton area. Friday 5.30pm - 6.30pm usually kids about age 8 - 15, but they are all pretty good, adults don't look out of place. Also loads of give aways, if the boss is in a good mood. Price : £2.00 own boots.
• Hillsborough Leisure Centre (HLC) near to the Wednesday football ground. Max 350 skaters. Saturday night 6pm - 8pm all ages, mostly in-line but all skaters welcome. Stickers and calenders from Bauer are often given away. Prices: £1.80 own boots £2.20 with hire.
• There's always Somerfield near the Banner Cross on Eccleshall Road. There's a waxed curb, as well as some nice gaps and manual islands. Around the Eccleshall Road area there are loads of small things worth looking at. In the Botanical Gardens there's a set of six which are OK, despite the pretty sketchy run up. Around the University there are some handrails, and a nice black bar as 50-50'd by Joel (I think) in that Sumo advert. There's also a set of five and some smaller handrails at some office block on Hanover Way. For anyone who wants to try and hurt themself, I saw a nice line on Sharrowvale Road the other day, at that Jaguar Garage. It's an ollie over a big flowerbed, with about a five foot drop down.
• And here's some stuff about rollerskating an inline skating: there are two great places to skate in Sheffield, the company which runs the event is called Rollers, and they are the official skate team of BAUER (Fagans) in the UK. All hire boots are Bauer in-Lines M100's: a special hire skate. Pairs available 150, from size 9 junior to 12 adult. The roller discos are lively and at the first venue (HLC) we have a max of 350 and we usually fill it.
• Sheffield is relaxed, to say the least, and Seb and Martin at Sumo have a lot to do with this. We also play host to a number of visiting pros and so the skate scene is healthy.
  Chez, or Mr Neil Chester, is a very nice man and good friend of mine who rides a lot and with much consistency. I should like to say a lot about him because I realy do believe that he has re-discovered the art of skating for fun after a brief spell of being sponsored. Aside from that Mark Baines and little Louis (from Chesterfield) come and roll around on Sundays, which makes for some good clean fun.
  And forget Safeway unless you're one of the lard boys (a funny story which needs to be told by Henry in Sumo for full effect) -- go directly to the shop in the week (do not pass go, do not collect £200), or head for Hallam University steps on a Sunday. Straight over the road out of the train station, and up the hill about 100 metres. Under no circumstances should you become distracted by the bus station.
• At night you have to be at Waxlyrical, an expanding group of DJs who regularly play on Sunday at Kiki's. Waxlyrical is a part of Sumo's increasing hold on Sheffield youth culture, so you can meet a large group of cheerful skaters.
• Safeway's car park at the bottom of Ecclesall Road is the skate place of choice. It's got curbs, gaps, manual rolls etc. There's someone down there most nights. 1 o'clock-ish on Sundays is the main session. Then we move up town to Crucible Theatre (blocks, stairs) and the Peace Gardens (steps).
• I'm not from Sheffield, but up at the ski village there is a little skate park with a couple of fly offs, grind rails and a cool quarter pipe. You're not supposed to go in after about 7pm, but no-one minds if you climb over the fence. On Fridays and Sundays, the snowboard nights, you get quite a few skaters, but during the day I see a lot of teeny-bladers.
• Try the town hall: good steps. Try Barkers pool: many steps and slidy things. The Midland Bank head office has a large drive-way style hump and much flat land and good gaps and islands and some steps. Safeway at the bottom of London Road has a good set of curbs and a manual platform. Children's World at the bottom of the Moor is good: big and flat with many islands. When it's raining in Sheffield (which it does a lot) theres Morrisons at Hillsborough which has a large underground car park and Sainsburys at Archer Road which also has a large underground car park with islands and blocks. Also check out Tescos and Aldi next door. From summer '97 there will be an indoor full size dogs bollocks skate park run by me, Rob, so come find us you're sure to have a good day. P.S. If you see Seb, diss him.

Skateboard Shops

• Just to set the record straight. I am one of the owners of Slide. We didnt do skate until Sumo shut and we had a good relationship with Seb. After Sumo shut People asked us to stock skate and why not as there wasnt any other independents then. So we became the board store not just the snowboard store. Now we have 'Story' opened up by Baines and crew and we wished them luck when they first opened up. We continue to send them customers looking for their brands and likwise for the house. People have the choice to go where they want to shop so if you dont want to shop here then no worries but let it be known we had no hand in the demise of Sumo. i'm sure Story will fill their boots quite well as the core skate shop in Sheffield and we are fine with that and wish them all the luck in the future. • sumo all the way but now theve been shut down by more corparate shops, i suppose its route one, but i would to see another independdent store. skatings about fun and expression not the lastest labels and money!!!

• In slides defence, the shop never sold skate stuff till the departure of sumo. It only began selling boards to fill the void of an independent shop in the town centre. So get yo facts straight holmes before slating peeps!! The house is also a well good shop.

• Unfortunately Sumo Skate shop in the Sheffield area, has now despanded, The best place to pick up yer new proddy in n around sheffyold is slide skate/snowboard store ( www.slidesnowboardstore.co.uk ) which is found across the road from where sumo once was.. 89 devision street, jus down from dev like. And there sellin all yer'needs for skatin lyke yer boards n yer wheelies n shoesies.nice place nice guys.... to tums up guys!

• route one is a good shop for bmx and sk8 stuff with fair prices everyone there is sound as well this is on chapel walk a small lane just off fargate. There is also sumo which is just sk8 stuff its pretty good there as well this is on division street.
• tiny corner shop near pizza hut in ecclesorl (don't now how to spell it). called 540 sells a few bits mostley bmx stuff. sumo really cool shop best thing ya get a really nice sumo bag with every thing ya buy. route one really crowded and busy, friendly and often some cheap deals. Quiksilver in meadowhall sells mostley clothes tho a few skate bits. also free spirit personaly i hate the dam shop. the last time i went there wasn't a skate thing in sight but it changes so often, still worth taken a look. i think thats it. happy shoppin!!

• the concrete skatepark near sumo (good shop) had a shit atmosphere, too many BMXers (none of them good) snking everybody and being cocky towards skateboarders. group of skateboarders thought they owned the place even though they wernt even that good. your best bet is to visit this park when all the skallys and shit BMXers are in bed.. at 4:00 am!!!

• Sumo (upstairs at The Forum in Devonshire Street) is the place to be if you are a skater in Sheffield: friendly staff, nice 'stuff' and videos a-playing.
