Beth Orton comes from one of the little villiages nearby and her parents still live there. some singer who was popular in the early 90s with red hair, Cathy Dennis, her cousin lives near dereham and her family live in Norwich. • A little known person (and he probibly like it that way) is Dance Music Record, Remixer and Megamix Producer "Kenny Jaymes" who grew up in Mattishall, (Just out side Dereham) and dated a local farmers daughter (Joanne) until she broke his heart. Kenny, who spent most of his youth in Dereham, started his DJ career at the former club that is now Upstairs Downstairs before quickly moving on to clubs in norwich like Tudor Hall and Ricks Place. From there he went on the National circut and then the international circut. Upon moving to Leicester, he joined Leicester Sound FM to present a Friday Night Dance music show that was so successful that it led to many other offers. Upon deciding that radio was not for him, he moved into producing records and mega-mixes in 1990 and has not looked back. He is extremly well know within the music industry although not really outside of it. He has in the past worked on songs by, Madonna, East 17, Backstreet Boys, Billie, R. Kelly and Mark Morrison. He is currently working on material by Garbage (Dance mixes), Cardigans, Texas and Shania Twain. He uses various names for his remixes but the more well known on is "MasterJam", so if you see a MasterJam remix you'll know it was by a son of Dereham. It is worth mentioning that Kenny is no stranger to the Top 40 with his productions and also uses the "Handbaggers" name for the more harder style Dance mixes as well as being part of the team behind the hugely popular and successful underground dance label "Tidy Traxx". As if that was not enough, he is also a mega-mixer for Music Factory Mastermixes, the UK rivals to DMC. Now I bet you did not know that, and all from one man who grew up in Dereham and went to the Dereham boys secondary modern school. His most famous quote is: It can only happen if YOU make it happen.
• Walk straight is this geezer in town who,well, basically can't walk straight!!
• Bishop Bonner, who liked to burn people who tried to enjoy themselves or demonstrate free thought. Sums it all up, really.

• We nahve a bloke seeling the Big Issue with the aid of his guitar, and that is about it.
