JRJ Records
Sounds is the greatest Shop on the face of the planet. If it exists, he'll not give up till it's ordered.

The bloke in Sounds is cool, despite what others may think of him. He is a wicked bassist and is a keen record collecter. Whatever he does not have he can get!

Hmmm....theres Sounds down by Iceland which must sell something

displayed in the window.
Clubs (Dance Music) and Music Bars
if you dont like the fragrant and frankly to pissed to care "pit" dont go and leave room for us peeps who actually thrive on the place! (namely young parents who cant afford to go out much, and when we, do WE LAP UP EVERY DRUNKEN MINUTE OF IT! DEREHAM IS GREAT WHEN YOUR DESPERATE FOR A SOCIAL LIFE AWAY FROM THE POXY TWEENIES! LONG LIVE BEERHAM!
the upstairs downstairs.....the most crappest place in the world!!!!full of remarkably young squaddy lovin mother fu@#kers!!!once experienced you will feel dirty both mentally and physicly.AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!!
splitz nightclub in Dereham is just one of those places where you have to go and visit. Thursday nights upstairs is good with the happy hour at only £1 a drink, time to have a few then. The DJ is good as well. Then friday and saturday nights downstairs, what can i say.....its quite good. The music downstairs on a saturday night is the best tho with a variety of tunes hosted by DJT, check him out, he's cute and plays good tunes. Give it a try anyway.
tee hee hee the downstairs is still going tho so its probably worth looking in for the nostalgia value. After reading this it seems it has changed not a t all.
Want to get beaten up, go to the downstairs, some of 'OUR' boys(squaddies) will happily facilitate you.
The upstairs downstairs, and Chameleon aboce the bowling alley Strikes.
New place, above the Strikes bowling called Chameleon. The guys are currently offering 1.50 pints between 9 and 10 30pm. Open til 1 at the moment. Very small, but nicely decorated. Good call, give them your support. It's the only good late night bar in town. DJ's are good too. Forget the downstairs people. Go here!
Again the "pit" is the ONLY club in dreary Dereham where you will find young men adn old women, or should that be the other way around?
The pit is a gud place 4 a laff and meetin them lush squadies, wich i do...well cum on its sumfin 2 do if u cant get sumwhere...plus its the m8s that make it a laff not the sticky carpets is it...stop ur complainin!
The pit is great, especially wen it cums 2 meetin sum lush squadies...well cum on its sumfin 2 do init. Thn the plough of course.
Ah! Norfolk's finest. The Downstairs, The Shit Pit, The PIT, Upstairs Downstairs, The Ninth Circle of Hell, once The Aurora Boreallis? (why), Splits - you may have thought the name implies a venue for private dances in exchange for a tenner.
Rest assured - none of the 'ladies' down Splits will charge you a penny. A place where you can hold polite conversation with men and women of our special forces and occasionaly induge in the partaking of some physical banter. The chance to listern in on a mix of multi-national dialects. Oh the carpets, what more can one say but as the night goes on your ability to move becomes less and less to the point you piss where you stand!
Warm glasses, no ice and the underbar heaters, the charm of the butch barstaff (female only) and the one, the ONLY, thank god, DJ Sparky contribute to an experince many can never forget. They try but once you've experienced it you have to go back just to make sure entrance to the Devil's Karzi does exsists.
I challenge anyone.
ps The fact it's open 'till 2 is great. Entrance criteria - TO BE AS PISSED AS POSSIBLE.
Downstairs??? Upstairs??? Can I see a club here
will ever1 stop dissin the downstairs, its the best place to go in dereham at that time. it mite not be brilliant but its a laugh, somwhere 2 dance and pull!
The upstairs downstairs are they the stickiest carpets in history. The music is pre fred flintstone.
Well it would be stereotypical answer of Downstairs (i'm taking my boyfriwnd from Edinburgh there, luckjy chap), But to be honest you can not beat me beatboxing outside the Florin
smelly carpet club.
Oh you mean the shit pit (upstairs/downstairs) the worst place you could ever go to, don't do it!
isn't there only one? Downstairs will always be downstairs
Upstairs-Downstairs was the old name - just is NOT worth it - you want clubs? Go to Norwich
Good place to find the local tallent and pull!! you know what i mean !! THE DOWN STAIRS IS THE PLACE TO BE !!! WICKED !!!!!
Well upstairs, downstairs is the only thing & i would not pay to go there it's to
hot & cramped.
Only Splits (used to be called upstairs downstairs) The only thing that can be said for it is that it's a late drink. (If you are despererate!
the plough and splitz
splitz , plough
DownStairs, Horrific meat market, full of vile diseases
Forget dance music, for a real wild night, join Dereham YFC. See local posters for details. of meetings, discos & nights out.
Enterprise Hall has closed down. Downstairs, under the cinema, is fine for the pre-pubescent party goer.
Upstairs Downstairs is the one
Enterprise Hall (Friday nights). Excellent night out can be had at Churchills club in Market Place, membership free, pints of Caffreys £1.70 followed by a cheap curry, ideal for non skateboarders and people too old for the Enterprise hall. Good place to go to to hear RAF stories is the Wellington wine bar.
Live Music Venues
Cherrytree rocks it out on a saturday nite, best pub in town, the football team aint half bad too!(know what i mean girls!)
memorial hall used to be great years ago, Cherry tree now
Norwich, waterfront UEA, etc. Janels have gigs, and when there are small bands playing, you'll no doubt see the flyers.
The Phoenix have good nites, no battle of the bands venues as of late. I suppose the pub next to teh Cherry Tree has an edgier music scene which has much nicer people in it.
The Cherry Tree is very friendly despite its reputation as bein a bit of a rockers retreat. Pheonix also has good bands sometimes.
Dereham Jazz Society at Aldiss Park every Wednesday
please note change of e-mail address
rvnelson@freedon255.com
precint, dnt no who he is but all the grunges sit in a circle and sing happy sing songs??
Please delete Jazz on Thursdays at the Millwrights Arms. this finished over a year ago. The club has reformed as the Dereham Jazz Society and has live mainstream jazz every Wednesda at 8.30pm at Aldiss Park (football club) Norwich Road, East Dereham. e-mail rvnelson@bluecarrots.com for a gig list
THE CHERRY TREE???
For jAzz it would ahve to be the Millwright sin Toftwood every Thursaday night. Blues is every Friday night in the Kings Head and The Phoenix in the middle of town has bands such as The Lee Vasey Band and others that nobody has really heard of. The best place for contemporary music would ahve to be the Waterfront, UEA and Fat Paulys in Norwich which is about 30 mins by bus.
Dereham Folk Club, 3rd Wednesday every monthe in the George Hotel. Good beer, good singing and good music.
the labour club has gone no where left
The Toftwood Millright has good music events sometimes.
Cherry Tree pub has great bands on. Recently had Cellar Blues band - fabulous!
just the 2 clubs
pheonix
Travel a little and try the Fox & Hounds at Lyng (abt 6 miles)... they have everything from Rock to Jazz... most Saturday nights and often on a Wednesday. Food's good as well..... 6 real ales on pump all kept great.
The local band D.R.Y. are always looking for gigs contact Paul Godfrey in Swanton Morley
