Record Shops
No decent shops in Bathgate.23rd precinct in Glasgow HMV for vinyl and Cd's
The only two places for records are Woolworths and WH Smith. Possibly the market at Weekends!
bathgate sux for good music....
There are no decent independant record shops in Bathgate - only Woolies and WH Smiths.
Clubs (Dance Music) and Music Bars
The Twig - Bathgate! There has been a few shady remarks about this club made, and i have to say, they are all untrue! Someone said its full of guys who love themselves and girls more orange than the people who work in tanz? well clearly you aint been in a while, cos, looking in the mirror, i aint no tango, and all the guys av met in the twig, dont love themselves, hint of jealousy id say! The twig is a minted nite out especially if your with a group of mates, great tunes played, good priced drink and a fair fiver to get in! Def recomended nite out to anyone lookin for somewhere to go!
what has happened to the twig, where is dj rab away too, does anyone know
the twig, the dreadnought and room at the top
Nightclubs in Bathgate- Room at The Top/The Twig/ The Dreadnought/
Nightclubs in Livingston- Clubearth/ Nightspot-power station/da vincis
The best club in Bathgate is most definately r@tt!! People are always saying nasty things about this club, yeh it may let under agers in but apart from that the club is amazing, its had a multi million refit and it looks amazing, its the biggest and best looking nightclub in west lothian and it has the biggest and best djs, also it has three rooms, Room 1-Dance and rave music. Room 2 Old school and pop. And Room 3- Latest dance and R&B!! So there you go a taste to suit everyone!! If you havent been its the place to be!! Although it can sometimes be costly! It sometimes has dancers too.
The dreadnought is all rock and is definately for the older generation!!! Full of moshers and goths too!
The Twig- its crap, smells badly and is tiny- its full of idiots wanting to fight and crap also cheesy music. Its also full of regulars.
Da vincis- is tiny and full of ladywell regulars.
Nightspot- is okay but has lots of under agers too- thursdays its free to get in b4 10.30 and drinks are £1 all night.
Clubearth- is livis best nightclub, no under agers in here, its very strict!!But its a club with variety- you see 18 yr olds then you see people around 60??? Its mad!!Its for anyone!! Okay music, not bad size nightclub- but full of guys who look so gay and girls with orange faces. All the girls love themselves and you get dirty looks if you look better then anyone!!
Pubs in Bathgate: Best are- Balbardie,Maisons, Central Point or Engine Room
Pubs in Livingston: Best are-Wetherspoons and Chicago Rock!
Pzazz on a thursday night
The twig - mainly pop and dance songs and more underagers than Bathgate Community centre on a Friday night. Also full of guys that are obsessed with themselves. More orange than the lassies that work in Tanz !
Remember as as a younger teenager being chased by a large part of a 'mental' group of youths ("C'mon ya bass!!!!") , full pace from the entrance of RATT towards the rail station. Managed to somehow dodge the multiple attempted 'glessin's!' Still, Rave on! ;-O
The dreadnought rock rocks, its the only place to go that plays decent rock music and is not full of silly little kids trying to act big. The Dj's Iain, Billy, John and Keith are excellent and play old as well as new rock a right good mixture of what the crowd wants. The dreadnought will go on forever.......... If you havent been you don't know wht you are missing
Clubs..RATT if that interests u.. Glasgow n Edinburgh or a good weekend in Liverpool Newcastle and this week Barcelona, bit far from Bathgate.
no-one yet has mentioned the wonder that is the Twig, nightclub extrodinaire and the place to be seen on a Saturday night, forget Room at the Top!
The Dreadnought great put and disco avoid when the DJ is billy (bald withbig ears)
can spin a disc for love nor money
R@TT
Bathgate boasts Scotlands top nightclub room at the top which unfortunately has "over the top" prices but if you are young and like to go out half naked then this is the place to be!..:)
The Dreadnought is by far the best club in Bathgate, the music if fantastic on a Friday and Saturday night and the atmosphere is brilliant! Keep on playing the funky music Billy and John ra DJs!!
Stay away from Room at The Top. It's full of agressive underagers who will bottle you quicker than you can say 'Look Out!' The Dreadnought may not play music to everyone's taste but its generally a friendly place.
The Dreadknought is the best club in Bathgate - especially a Friday night. It has a great atmosphere.
The Dreadknought is the best club in the known world - well it's good anyway! I've been going for 9 years and Billy Haggerty plays the same music every time - you can set your watch by him!!!!
Massive discotheque opening - Room at the Top (3000 capacity).
Live Music Venues
Lets not forget that Room at the Top now hosts live music every friday night. Room 1 has been fitted out with a top spec pa and other goodies fit all live acts. Recently went to see the Complete Stone Roses. Top venue, go see.
The regal
Smiths..The Glenmavis Tavern....Holds bands, karaoke some good singers, and the proprietors are very friendly.
The best band to come out of Bathgate since Goodbye Mr McKenzie are a unique sounding six piece act called "Fiery Jack"
Check out their website at http://www.fieryjack.sc
Fiery Jack is a West Lothian based 6 piece band playing
regularly to packed audiences in the area. The bands
reputation is building and they are currently in demand
further a field. Their style draws on a number of influences
from Alex Harvey to Nick Cave, The Clash and The Pogues,
with a bit of good old Scottish traditional thrown in. A
pleasure to hear, the band are also exciting to watch as the
individual performances demonstrate a vitality and
spontaneity that shows that they enjoy what they do. No two
gigs are the same as the bands energy and spark keeps the
sound fresh, dynamic and above all highly enjoyable.
Watch the fireworks next time you can catch Fiery Jack!!
You can see Fiery Jack in The engine room,The wesport,The Glenmavis Tavern (smith's) and The masons
www.fieryjack.sc
Some famous DJ's do regularly visit Room At The Top.
RATT - room at the top - full of neds, good for a fight
The Glenmavis Tavern has live music upstairs in the disco usually the last Sunday in the month.Check out a superb six piece band called "Fiery Jack" who regularly play there.Their music is unique blending Scottish Traditional music with rock/punk.Truly well worth seeing.
Bathgate sadly lacks live entertainment unless you like a bit of the old foxtrot down the british legion although pubs like the livery and balbardie have live acts but tend to lean towards the scottish/irish folk scene... then again theres always the karaoke available to local warblers in most pubs towards the weekend...altogether now puleeeeeeezeeeee release meeee.........
The Livery Lounge, The Balbairdie Hotel
The dreadnought is crap, it caters for older people. Bathgate needs a club that plays todays decent music (rock I mean).
Regal Community Theatre has a variety of musical events from 60's and 70's disco to brass bands and wind bands. Check it out.
Bands used to play in Fergies and Glens. They sometimes have bands at Room at the Top and the Dreadknought but its not often enough to be cool. one good thing is the schools Rock Platform - this is organised by the music teachers of the schools in West lothian. They hire a venue and all the young bands are able to do a set. I went to support my mates wee brother and it is actually an excellent night. West Lothian has a lot of young talent and it is a good experience for them to play in front of an audience.
