Food
tandoori
New World, Pearl River
Fakenham wine bar is tucked out of the way round the back of the cinema, but it is great. All homemade ( last time I looked)and very nice. Also, Fakenham Tandoori is very good.
Excellent Egg Stall on Fleamarket on Thursdays
Thai above Stead and Stimpson about the most fantastic meal you will have in Norfolk. Pricey but worth it. Tandoori abit hit and miss. Pizza from the kebab shop the cheapest in the world and very tasty. Also chicken kebab second to none but London prices. F and C at Wells only. Do not entertain anyone in Fakenham.
Crusty Loaf do nice ice buns!
Two Chinese takeaways, one Kebab House, one Pizza takeaway, one Thai restaurant, one Indian restaurant. Most of the pubs do some sort of food at lunchtimes. The Crown has a good restaurant.
Eating In: A fair range from the corner cafe to a place I rather like when I'm rich tucked away off Norwich Street.
Takeaway: A couple of chippies, a pizza place (it always seems closed, wakens up in the evening), a kebab house - watch the chilli sauce, Chinese take-aways and the Indian provides take away.
Pubs
The Crown, The Limes, ETC, basically the only thing in Fakenham
They are all ok. Give the Rampant Horse a miss though.
The pubs in Fakenham are very poor to say the least. However if you are fresh-faced and youthful the best place to go is the Limes. A bit laddy and slaggy but generally ok, if you like being glared at by bitch girls and ogled over by pre-pubescent boys.
Used to be more but now only about four.
Limes if you are under 12,
Crown not bad( have to say that brothers friend runs it)
Bull, only when you are completely blotto,
Star out of the way (where it should stay)
The Bull brews its own beer - try Raging Bull (bitter) and White Bull (a wheat beer). Mmmmmmmmm nice!
The only place to go out to is the Limes. I enjoy the friendly and slightly nieve atmos. Do not entertain anywhere else other than the Crown if you want to pull RAF chaps. No problem being alone at the Limes if you are fairly outgoing. Everyone talks to you anyway and if you are half decent plenty of parties to go onto. London connection is a bit of a bonus.
Best Pub in town is The Crown Inn on the Market Place, beer and atmosphere are really good most nights especially Friday and Saturday. If the football (soccer) or rugby teams have won the atmosphere on a Saturday night is phenominal. Best characters in the pub are two girls called Carmen and Theresa, they can always be found there and are willing to tell you what is what about Fakenham. Best pub for music is the Limes Free House, they have bands (sometimes cool, sometimes crap). Other pubs are the Rampant Horse near the post office, The Bull opposite the Limes, The Mill at the river, the Star on Wells Road, and the Henry IV which is definitely without a doubt the worst pub in the town.
Quite a few, some offering hotel facilities and one offering loud music if you can get in. (If you just want the music you can always stay outside!)
Cafes and Coffee Shops
keanes
Too many. Go to Fakenham and eat- then go home cos there's nothing else here to see.
The Dancing Goat on OPak Street.....home made cakes...low prices and completely free insults from the outrageous Sheila
The Coffee shop
there is a nice one on Norwich St, opposite Superdrug. They do a good Jacket spud, and ceam teas. Also homemade diabetic cakes.
