Clothes Shops, Shoe Shops, Fashion and Bargains
oxfam
Virtually none. Unless you are over 70 then go to Aldiss.
No. Debenhams is not still there and hasn't been for at least 10 years. there are no decent clothes shops in Fakenham.
none. occasionally you can find an old potato sack. the last clothes shop, pams boutique, closed in the seventies.
If you are used to the Roman forget it. Car boot between Fakenham and Wells does some notable second hand bargains. I got a fab fake snakeskin jacket for three quid. bare in mind the retro scene if you are a Londoner!
A number of smallish shops offering a moderate choice, however I am advised by the ladies that bras are expensive and they "can never find anything to wear". Also a fair smattering of Charity Shops which are always worth a look.
Arts, crafts and such (Anything from pukka art galleries to craft shops. Trendy and twee both welcome.)
Check out the stunning Indonesian batiks on the auction site market every Thursday - next to pet stall. Also wonderful collection of costume & silver jewellery.
Alladins cave at top of wells road. Tons of stuff.
This town is a haven for antique collectors. Everyother shop is either a hairdressers, charity, or antique shop. Or cheap junk shop. Unfortunately, Jaks is no longer there.
R&S Lane Bookbinding - Craft restoration on Bookmend@AOL.com
ah hah! there's a pottery in broomfleet! technically not in gilberdyke of course, but there you go.
Check out Sue Rivet antiques and the Wooden Horse craft shop, both have good selections in what they sell and are friendly.
Magazine and Comic Shops
Several, moslty on or near Bridhe street. And not forgetting the famous Wells Road Post Office. It sells everything you could ever want, almost.
You might find the current "Beano" in a newsagents.
The Knowhere Guide started out as a list of places to skateboard in the UK. It is a compilation of (unedited) information and views supplied by users like yourself. It is not a conventional tourist guide!
In most cases, the information in each section has been submitted by more than one contributor
(the credits at the bottom of the page list some, but not all, of the contributors) and some of it dates back to the 1970s.
We make no claims as to the accuracy of the information in the Guide - our only purpose is to provide a forum for users to share their knowledge and opinions. So please keep a large bag of salt handy and be prepared to read between the lines!
If you disagree with a comment, or information is out of date, please submit an update! The contributors come from all walks of life, and their opinions are bound to be subjective, so if your view isn't represented, please speak up and contribute to the balance of the Guide. See below in the 'Have Your Say' section for how to add your voice.
If we have helped you out or made you laugh you can buy us a pint.
Have Your Say...
The Knowhere Guide depends entirely on real users for information. Please feel free to join in.
You can tell us more about Fakenham.
This is also the method to use if you want to correct some of the information already here.
(But please remember you're not mailing the person who actually wrote whatever-it-is.)
You can use the add an event form
to tell us about events happening in Fakenham.
Or, if you'd just like to leave a message for other users of this site, take a look at The Knowhere Board (handy if you're just trying to get in touch with someone).
