Record Shops

  • Used to be a great place in Dunraven Square called Stephens Music shop
  • THE JUNGLE,NOLTON STREET
  • deffinaely jungle, bit of info for u hitman closed bcos the manager commit suicide in the back of the shop, no shit he really did. fact
  • The Jungle is pretty good, but has crept its prices up a bit since Hitman Music left town.
  • Virgin XS for all da oldies n classics. Wollies or WHSmiths for da latest. Da jungle if ur into ur rock. Cant believe they closed down hitman- that place rocked!
  • well if you like rock jungle has some great imports sadly most of their shelves is dedicated to rubish emo music not rock
  • The Jungle
  • the jungle is the nearest thing, although it has gone a bit "whack" over the years. hitman was pretty good but now replaced by the nicer subway.
  • Only the Jungle to buy music - it's sad really when you consider that with a population the size of Bridgend there is no decent record shops, or bookshops or film places either
  • The Jungle
  • The Jungle. Got all your rock and punk needs. And I need punk and rock. Makes sense really.
  • Only the Jungle - and most of the time cheaper than woolies!!
  • The Jungle has a good range but the manager always seems pissed!
  • Only jungle now and thats quite shit
  • THE JUNGLE
  • The jungle would have to be the best place now hitman has vanished - to be replaced by the delicious subway! Best buy your tunes off the net.
  • whsmith usually stock the guiness book of records
  • There's always the 'Jungle'; what a comfort.
  • the jungle, only choice worth making
  • JUngle,Woolies, WHSmiths, Hitman
  • Hitman has closed and Jungle has moved.
  • The jungle on nolton street or hitman music next to "absolutely fabulous" costume shop.
  • The Jungle - better choice cheap as chips and they will order anything for you!!!!! Hitman is closing down by the way.
  • jungle is grat it has everything u need and alos a grat funny staff
  • There's an ever-lasting war between Hitman Music & The Jungle
  • Hitman, which is great. Plus this really hot bird is sometimes there.
  • the jungle kicks ass but they havent got any proper death metal
  • go to jungle great prices and more choice than hitman , the only reason to go to hitman is to se if that hot girl Gemma is still working there
  • JUNGLE all the way
  • Jungle!!!! cheep shit for all of us unprivilaged valley people!!
  • The Jungle- The ONLY place to go for the latest releases esp if you're a metal/rock/nu-metal/punk fan!- New releases for around £12.99- £9.99. :o)
  • Er, don't think we've got many independant places left now.
  • Jungle
  • The Jungle - thebest, the most helpful and the cheapest!
  • "jungle"&"hitman"
  • HYPER VALUE COZ IT IS LIKE AN ASOLT COURSE GETTING AROUND IT.
  • hitman hitman hitman all the rest are complete ripoffs... in fact go to amazon bloody better customer service
  • The only shops worth shit in Brigend is Native and BadHabits
  • Jungle is the greatest music shop ever the helpful staff always get me my manics import cds i is very grateful
  • ...uh jungle....just coz i go there too often and spend tooooo much of my hard earned cash...
  • Jungle, Hit Man.
  • Jungle and Hitman are both great, you won't find a better record shop within 100 miles-literally. Swansea's shops are shite, Cardiff is overpriced, even spillers is shit nowadays. I travel 30+ miles to bridgend for those two shops, and the Penybont is great for lunch.
  • The Jungle-the only place 2 go!!!
  • The Jungle and that new one down by the tattoo parlour.....erm....don' know the name, sowweeee
  • Roxcene Records, I used to buy a load of LP's from here dirt cheap and go accross to Record Collector to sell them on for a HUGE profit every weekend! Until Roxcene Caught on and started punching holes in the cheapy LP's. Swines, thanks...i was just getting used to the expensive ciders too!
  • the jungle, wollies, w h smiths, hit man and thats about it. the jungle and hit man are the best! good deals, and the jungle stocks local bands cd's. nice!
  • The Jungle & Hitman. The Jungle specialise in mysterious 'live imports' and seem to sell every CD they have for exactly ten pence less than Hitman. Go figure.
  • hit man is the place to shop. Even if you dont find the right cd you can always stare at assistant with the cool dreads
  • Has to be the Jungle . The only place in Bridgend that sells vinyl and good price stuff .
  • Jungle is amazing if you want to buy cd's tapes etc.You can even buy t-shirts with SLIPKNOT on them!!If that's your 'thing!!'
  • The Jungle and Hit Man I suppose.
  • There can ever only be one like it ..."JUNGLE" is the main place to get all your tracks from the great to the cheesy , and is the only place in Bridgend town that sells chart vinyl . After years in the biz after running Roxcene records , lee and the lads have got things running even after some pr*ck burnt the place down last year . And cheeper than woolys and the hitman . Tony Preston
  • the jungle a fab shop with fab staff!!!!!!!!!
  • The jungle in nolton street has cds tapes, vinyls , and concert tickets
  • Hitman is probable the best but lacks essential classics! Avoid Xcess in the Pines
  • Hitman music as my mate works there. LOL.
  • Actually the record shops in Bridgend are dire...all except Woolworths which by a blind but complete luck, invariably has the more obscure singles before any other shops and at a cheaper price.
  • There is only one worthy music shop worth dropping into in Bridgend and that is the Jungle stocked for all tastes and good value and they get loads of manics imports!!!!!!!
  • The Jungle is a fantastic record shop
  • Go to Hitman - definatly or The Jungle - depends what your looking for!
  • Hitman Music, Opposite Barclays Bank - loads of great cds etc for less money than anywhere else
  • The Jungle, in Derwen Street. Roxscene Records has gone, replaced by yet another charity shop.

Clubs (Dance Music) and Music Bars

  • ok to the new manager of sax>yes you have spent a lot of cash refurbishing the club better lights etc but to say cheaper drinks is wrong, for the last three months i been goin there the beer pumps are STRANGELY not workin therefore we are forced to drink alcopops all nite which cost three quid each dont get you drunk and leave a nasty taste in your mouth and a big hole in your pocket.it confuses me that you spend 2 million pound on a nightclub but dont seem able to serve beer.RIPOFF.<<<<<<<<Hi I'm the new manager of LAVA & IGNITE in Bridgend. Come down and check out all the changes I've made to the club; new doorstaff, new DJs, better lighting, lower priced drinks, etc. why not visit www.lavaignite.com/bridgend and see if you can find any of your mates on our photo galleries.
  • right on mate, blue was a shit pit, run by a couple of wanna-be gansters, to many of them in bridgend. hey i see that it has now changed to a new lady owner goes by the name lucinda should change it to lovvvllly lucinda i reckon, shes hot. lucindas entertainment bar, had a dance of a girl there whos legs never stopped i couldnt belive just how longggggg they were, it was worth the money, i think she will marry me if i nag her enough. great place great girls and oh my god never seen so many extra cold beers there everywhere, also they got a nice chopper on display want one of those. nice one lucinda!!!!
  • moved away from bridgend years ago, when the hyper bar changed over to cafe mocha run by some dodgy guy, it was then called blue a gents club would you belive, not nice. just moved back and went back to what i thought was blue with some mates to find it had changed owners and what a lovley owner she is. the club hasn't changed much but is much cleaner more open and just a nicer place, i see good old dj dia is back there mixing things up which is nice. by all accounts there are big changes instore for the place, which should be interesting to see, so a thumbs up for lucindas entertainment bar, im glad i went back.
  • ikon bridgend is as close as you can get to hell on earth!,the beer is water the manager is an arrogant git and only when you are completely intoxicated by their overpriced drinks can you vaguely enjoy the crap music which you can find on any local tin pot radio station.my advise..give it a wide birth not worth your cash or teeth!!!len.
  • The Toll House is ok. Tuskers is good too.
  • I absolutely love Bridgend. its a fab night out 4 me neway. All of my mates r there n its a fab place to meet new people. Iv even met people who have helped me get over my ex.My fav places r Cody's coz tehy always paly da magic carpet ride n its a fab song coz u get 2 strut ur sexy moves!! N of course Sax, Ikon< ignite..wotever u wana call it or remember it as. I loved it when it was Ikon and then it turned into Ikon n they took my bloody stage away!! However 2 make it up they let me dance in the podium from time to time. Im living at Swansea at da mo, n even tho i love going out 2 Swans i just can't get enough of Bridgend n get really excited when i go bk home to have a nite out in Bgend. At da end of da day, if u dnt like Bgend dont go 2 Bgend, but just give it a chance. Who knows, u may c me out 1 nite n i could change ur mind!!
  • Ahh bridgend ruff Ikon sax or whatever its called no really all these places Are just meat markets for valley comandos to come out of their caves and pick up women wth their clubs to drag them home bridgend is a meat market go to cardiff
  • Cody's, Sax!
  • The Toll House in Bridgend town centre is a must for any gay person to visit as most of the people who go there are gay too.
  • Tuskers
  • fluod , sax , appollo
  • Lava - Too posh for Bridgend, fridges full of Champagne, over 21's very hard to get into, cream leather seats ! The Roof - with its famous concrete garden, has a lived in feel, either that or its a theme pub, where the theme is "in need of repair" Jaggers - Remarkably young patrons... very cheap but would have to be. Ignite - The big club, very new and rather nice, RnB and Dance, we'll see how long it lasts. The York Tavern -aka- Monroes - Late Bar For the older Burberry wearer. Carys - Live music bar very small and woody. Cody's - Late bar for the younger Burberry wearer. The Court House - Your mother would love it, a pub with a little dance floor and a late license. Tusker - Sports-Rock bar come ex-church.
  • Well Bowlers just shut down, didn't care too much for the quite obviously legal, although extremely short customers, same with Cody's only it's still open. All the old people go to Courthouse, Jaggers is the best nightclub all round, Tuskers is the coolest place (Converted Church, hell yeah!), and the Three Horseshoes is great, cos it actually qualifies as a nightclub so you can stay out all night playing pool. Rock.
  • Th Tollhouse - which muppets keep insisting is still called Jaggers - BUT ITS NOT!!! Its been the Tollhouse for one year less than the Cambrian has been the Roof. Great DJS Lloyd from Astons - remember him??? Stilling playing in the Tollhouse every Saturday. Oh and they do better drinks promos than anyone else spec on Fridays.
  • SAX
  • Ikon is the only club in bridgend now since AStons was fired by a pyro kid who was refused entry apparantly. ikon is a bit shitty really, full of alcohol fulled crazies and the music is annoying and crap. The spoons and o'neils are good places to chill, tuskers is an ok place - someones gonna fall off that balcony one of these days!! Codys is a sweaty packed shit hole full of freaky people trying to get laid. only go in codys if you want to end up trying to drink your pint off the floor. a night in the roof is about as safe as a maximum security prison during a riot. To be honest there ain't much in Bridgend, get in a taxi and go to cardiff or swansea to have a good night!!!
  • Clubs don't exist in Bridgend unless your a hard-house-loving pill head, in which case I'd recommend Sax a.k.a Ikon and the amazing a-joining bar route-66, what a dive.It smells so bad of B.O and piss in there you have to be off your head to last more than 10 minutes. Tuskers is an alright pub, drinks quite reasonable but music is utter shite and you can hardly hear it. Nice decor and stuff but can be dodgy, don't cause any trouble there or you'll definatly get glassed, happens most weekends.Men there can be quite fit but generally they're monged. The Roof is the only place to go these days. Loads of men, loads of out-of-towners to laugh at who only go there cos the massive queue to get in makes them think it's guna be good, ha. Probably the most rank pub in the world, the floor is now concrete mixed in with old tiles, classy. drinks are priced ok, but stay away from their own vodka, its rank, bound to make you ill. You have to go before 10.30-11pm now otherwise you'll be queuing for an hour. Outside bit is great for the summer and its easy to jump over the wall if you get chucked out. the bouncers are idiots there.
  • Go to Cardiff. Really.
  • All of bridgend's clubs fucking rule!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Apart from Sax
  • Crossways ( now closed) had to be the best club about, Monroe's is the worst club anywhere, in all of history (where do they get those doormen from?) Brackla break cafe (open all night) wasn't a club, but the superb fry up was a good end to a night on the pop
  • Anywhere good? No. But if you go the Courthouse, O'Neills The Wetherspoons, or Tuskers, some dickhead 12-45 year old wont try to assault you for being alive
  • The roof has recently been playing a really good mix of music that will have you dancing through the night. With it's cheap bottles of stella it is definately the place to go. If your looking to pull your best place is the Litten Tree or Kitten Tree as we call it because the amount of pussy in there
  • bowlers- teeny bopper hang out, but cheep drinks!!! 2-4-1 on sat+ 3-4-1 on sun!!!! sax + sax bar (aka ikon + route 66, or sould that b 69!)- not bad music, drinks r way too expensive +it smells of shit in the tunnel! club extreme/bud bar200/hyper or cafe mocha as it known, yes u guessed it, its all the same place, just a different name to try and convince people its something new- full of under aged pill heads!!! cheap drinks tho!
  • well... this site is ssooooooooo out of date since HYPER has closed down it is now known as CAFE MOCHA..soon to be the local sleeze strip joint!! ERGH another place for the perves of bridgend to hang out!!...BOWLERS.....still the place u can guarentee to see all of your mates on a saturday night!..... everywhere bloody charges ya to get in now and it is so pointless..coz ohalf of the good clubs in cardiff dont charge the hell out of ya like they do!!...umm also LITTERN TREE has opened, a rather nice bar....full of slightly oler stylish people sumtimes....bouncers craw round that place.....good nite tho!
  • Sax - OK but not a favourite of mine. The music's ok but not particularly great, not worth paying to go to. Not too many good looking boys there either!! The Roof- Music not that great, no good dance, always packed, but a pretty tidy atmosphere and FULL of guys! Monroes- At the start of the night it plays pretty decent music, not hardcore dance, but more like pop-dance or softer dance stuff. Not THAT many youngsters there, seems to be over 30s nights most nights, but there's usually some hot young guys there at some point. Music does go downhill as it gets later tho' and it's usually jam packed by 11:30, tho' there are a lot of old slimy guys around. So keep watch!!! Codys- OK, music varies, but it's generally ok. Drinks are slightly more pricey than those in Monroes. Jagers- Not a favourite of mine. Never spens much time here.
  • Pretty crap. Avoid Monroe's / Browns (Aka the Mos Eisley Cantina because of the strange patrons).
  • Astons
  • Well it has been all change since this site was last updated. "Monroe's Nightclub" has FINALLY closed down, making way for 70s and 80s club "Brown's Nightclub"- that's 70s and 80s music in Brown's, as opposed to 70 and 80yr olds in Monroes. Also, the much maligned Hyper has been raided for the last time, making room for upmarket (snigger) Cafe Mocha. A real classy establishment. Finally, there were obviously not enough drinking holes in Bridgend already as The Litten Tree will open sometime in August.
  • WELL DONT GO TO ASTONS OTHERE WISE YOU WILL FIND YOUR SELF WAITTING A WHILE TO GET IN DUE TO THE FACT THAT THE PLACE HAS BURNT DOWN!!!
  • well unless you are a whistle blowing, light saber waving(what are they about)DRUG USER don't bother with the clubs
  • Astons has burnt down thank God it was such a turd on the lanscape. Pity the clietele were not there at the time.
  • i can highly recommend the roof cos i work there and the aga of the punters has increasec to legal age since i like the feeling of power i get when i can ask the youg twats who are underage for I.D. Sax free bar is still going i know sax sucks but if you drink enough it doesn't seem so bad
  • er...clubs...I wouldn't say Bridgend had any clubs...pubs yeah loads...but the 'clubs' here aint your average London kinda club
  • RIP Astons bar (those 2 little w*nkers rot in hell) we may never be able to maddly jump around to the tunes of 'Rage against the Machine' or 'Counting Crows' again! I suppose everyone go to The Roof from now on!
  • Hyper absolutely reeks of pee, there is a fight on every corner coz most of Bridgend is hooked on pills and it makes them paranoid. Astons is OK (also smells bad) but is full of the same people each and every week, most of which are pill heads and are very young (Surprise Surprise). Take my advice and stick 2 Astons bar - top music and no atmosphere unlike Astons club.
  • Astons, Sax, Hyper.
  • The Dj`s in Bridgend`s supposed superclub is quite possibly the fattest man on the planet. shouting ole ole to the Delight of the mongd out steroid friendly wankers who parade this vile town. (a heart attack 4 him would be welcome relief for n e 1 who is suicidle over hearing and seeing this cunt in action). I mean ghostbusters and whigfield are long due retirment!!
  • sax is the only place to be thursday friday saturday and sunday!!!! it's got a cool dance stage astons is full of people who r intoxicated on something other than alchohol. hyper has gone waaayyyy downhill (i used to go there every weekend) but the guy with blue hair has stopped workin there now, and he was hot - in fatc the only reason i bothered going. monroes - boooooring.
  • So tired are the majority of Bridgend's Bowlers Nightclub regulars with the woefully inadequate DJ "Roy" that a movement against him has been instigated. Check out the KillRoy website on www.geocities.com/neandercarl/killroy for further details. :0)
  • Oooo, my personal favourite is Aston's on A-Lvel results night. It only comes once a year, but its a wicked atmosphere..
  • cool calm class act carl (or neanderthal carl) has been made a barman in sax bar. FREE DRINKS then!!!
  • Having moved away 3 year ago to pastures greyer, when i go back it's gotta be said that Sax Bar is a good laff and there's plenty of slappers in there! one bacardi breeza and they're all yours..lads check their ages first tho! n.i. cards a must!
  • bowlers is young! but you have to go and see good old rhian on the door.
  • For the foetuses of the country wanting to listen to an abundance of cheesy music, try Bowlers or Astons. For the same crowd wanting mainstream dance, try Sax. For more hardcore dance, but an unfriendly environment, try Hyper, for mid-life crisis men, try Monroes.
  • Bowlers! Ask anyone in Bridgend and they say they hate the place. But turn up on Saturday and their all there (including me!) WE ARE THE CHILDREN OF THE NIGHT! and SPACE INVADERS! Songs you will hear nowhere else!!!
  • F**k all! If you want my advice then I suggest that you go somewhere that doesn't charge extortionate prices for utter s**t! If you a re feeling to happy then a night in Bridgend is GUARANTEED to make you feel on the verge of suicide! Anyone mildly unhappy or not looking for a fight should steer clear!!
  • SO Called ''DJ'' Roy is a fu^king Wan*er and the biggest prick (without one) you will ever meet. Sax night club has a ''free'' bar for £13 but is it really worth it I mean it is Sax for Christ's sake! You need a pension book to get into Monroes. Go to the all new P.S. on Park Street. A ;ittle expensive for a pub but a well nice place. I thoughroughly recommend it!
  • Astons for meeting peoplle. Bowlers to see your mates. Wetherspoons for cheap drink. Sax and Hyper are both dingy holes/dives- don't bother
  • Go to Swansea .
  • Astons,Monroes,Sax,The Roof.
  • U talk about club-xtreme, Budbar 2000 and Hyper. They are all the same place!! club-extreme closed down about 3 years ago and Bud-Bar transformed into Hyper about 6 months ago, which is why i query that you say Budbar 2000 is a dive with dodgy bogs and Hyper is awseome???? They didnt even give the bogs a coat of paint!!
  • sax nightclub
  • The Ways was the only one worth visiting. I particularly enjoyed the walk home withthe latest manof the moment
  • May the lord come down and bless Astons DJ Rob,most notable are his appearences on a friday.his hits include such bands as Rage Against The Machine,Nirvana and The Offspring.I praise bowlers for its remarkable atmosphere but get that shitty DJ out.He even gives sh*t a good name!Other notable bars include weatherspoons and The Roof.
  • In my opinion there is nothing better, on a Saturday, than Bowlers via Astons. A Friday, on the other hand, is experienced best in Sax's Free-Bar (as recommended by Rhys 'Egon' Jones). It cost only £10 and once you're in you can drink as much as you want (avoid watered down pints).
  • The newly chritened "Bowlers Sports Bar" has recently opened (not that it closed) but the that f#cki*g w*nk bisciyt "Roy" is still there. Hyper is awesome but unfortunatly the only free place in town is the Roof. Spoons + Rugby club are cheap and free places to get hammered in though.
  • The newly opened 'Hyper'. The man on the decks is former BudBar saviour DJ Dai. Long may he reign. Every f**king alcoholic-beverage provider in *uc*ing Bridgend that has any kind of party atmosphere now charges entry. Long gone are the days of free-roaming the town, drinking wherever you want and interacting with all the regulars. These fascists are destroying the community spirit. You now have to a) stay in the same place all night or b) spend more money than ever before. Not fair. Not cool. Bowlers Bar is still the best place to be. 2-4-1 drinks downstairs in Sax Bar, then up to Bowlers in time to watch WWF SmackDown! Now, there's a good nite. Who needs women? :-) (That woz a joke, of course. I have my priorities straight.) Only bad thing about Bowlers? Pathetic prick of a DJ, Mr. "Steve" Roy
  • Crossways RIP. 'Nuff said.
  • The old 'Bud Bar 2000' has been redecorated, and is actually a NICE place to go now, especially with DJ Dai on the decks!
  • There aren't any. People in Bridgend spend £2.50 for the priviledge of spending saturday night standing in a bowling alley!!!
  • What are these rumours of Jumpin' Jacks? Well, both the most fun (Bowlers) and cheapest (Bud bar) places in town are closing down. So is Sax. There'll only be Astons. (Hooray.) If you go to Wetherspoons, you may see the former snooker champ guy. Worth it. And this really bright faced bloke with grey hair.
  • There is a dirty, filthy, stinking smelly hole in Bridgend. Answers to the name "Bud Bar 2000". It's a foul, piss-drenched hole, but it's really cheap though. Check out the state on the bogs. Foul. Full of pill-heads and "hardnutz". The place to go if you are looking for The Town Twins (Robert and Kelvin) Yeah, you know 'em!
  • THE NEAREST CLUB IS IN BRIDGEND TOWN IT SELF BUT FROM A VILLAGER IN BETTWS A BUS IS YOU BEST BET. BUT BE WARNED THE LAST BUS IS AT 11.15PM!!! BE HOME EARLY.
  • Sax is a so called townie place with a lot of pills flying around Astons is the same but slightly smaller Monroes is for 30+
  • I'd rarther go to a barn dance in Kosavo
  • Astons is probably as good as you are going to get because Mr. Jimboo Kingston kicks ass.
  • allright if your desperate and only if you know people otherwise it turns into a nightmare scenario
  • Bowlers and Sax, now under joint ownership - far too many sixteen-year-olds for my liking though.
  • Bowlers on a saturday- your bound to know half the people there so its a laugh
  • Monroes is ok if you want creepy, slimey old men coming up to you, and Sax is alright if you are the more teeny bopper type that likes the under age, whacker whacker scene!!!
  • * Astons - This is one of the best pubs/clubs and it has a really good atmosphere *Sax - This happens to be really easy to get into?....Its suppose to be good?
  • Sax, the only place to visit in Bridgend.. Opened in June '97, it has the best lighting, and sound quality in South Wales. But, the DJ is rubbish...
  • There is a new nightclub opening soon at the site of the former MGM Rover Garage. Astons is still popular, as is Monroes!
  • Benz and Crossways are now sadly both shut. Club Xtreme and Monroes are two of the worst clubs in the entire world.

Live Music Venues

  • Porthcawl, YMCA Bridgend and the old Kee club in Bridgend, used to be near Tesco's and the old bus station.

  • The Tollhouse - live bands every thursday whatever the weather! NO KIDS strictly over 18 venue - no matter what other people say!!
  • Black-River Arts put on monthly gigs at the Blaengarw Workmens Hall and also run a Jam-Night at the Charter Country Club in Blaengarw on the last Thursday of every month! In addition to this they offer a cheap and cheerful demo-recording service for local bands!
  • The Rec, Jaggers, Carieys, PS . Not much good shit in Bridgend (get on a train to Cardiff)
  • Jaggers, bands midweek, join years 9 to 11 headbanging to thier mates band.
  • CODYS FRIDAY NIGHT DJ MATT ROCKS THE PLACE, AWESOME!
  • The Toll house, has decent local and international bands.
  • The Tollhouse on Derwen Road THIS PUB IS NOT CALLED JAGGERS YOU THICKHEADS!! Some of the best live music from local guys to worldwide acts and everything from punk to emo and death thrash metal (whatever the hell that is!) Loads of big names, Lost Prophets played there loads and more recently Funeral for a Friend. And really cheap to get in too.
  • Good scene at Cardiff, but Bristol is really where it's at.
  • Jaggers can be alright on a Thursday, O'Neills some nights
  • the rec isnt doing any gigs anymore cos sum twat set the fire alarms off last time... cunning stunts r moving to icon so i heard and u gotta b 18... HAHA LIL KIDS NOW UR SCREWED!
  • The litten tree , although at the moment there is some w**ker from bridge f.m there on a sturday night . for a good while there was another guy who used to do The Shoes get him back his tunes were great and always got the place jumping and even played requests unlike half the other places in town ,Think his name was Ant .
  • Toll House still rocks, wrinkly headbangers are allowed! But the beers c***.
  • toll house is the only place for live music but cunning stunt promotions rip people off
  • Jaggers / Toll house most Thursday nights. Live bands mostly punk/ metal / alternative. Why has no one mentioned it yet?
  • There's live music in the Tollhouse on a Thursday
  • The Tollhouse (bar formely known as jaggers) Fantastic punk and new metal every Thursday - NO kids.
  • Well, First off there's the PS bar, Jam night - Wednesdays - Great if u like "paranoid by Black Sabbath" and band night on Fridays. Good venue. you got Jaggers, thursday night have bands - this is probably the best place, good DJs! otherwise you got the football club, bit of a dive, but good laugh if u like 12 year olds.
  • COME TO THE ROOF AND PAY MY WAGES
  • IOLO Keep on rocking in the free world, dude
  • penybont- a class act of a pub, and PS is good for live music, although free for all night attracts the strange population out of their hideouts
  • Go to Cardiff.
  • Bridgend Rec has hosted many a memorable gig from The utterly shite Spurious And the margingly better Jeff Killed John (The Original singer was better)
  • JAGGERS!!!!!! every thursday night...punk/metal bands...again lots of rah guys attend
  • Nothing big, but the TOll HOUSE has live local bands on most Thursday nites-some real good talent can be found here. Even had 'Nerf Herder' (Buffy Theme) play here.
  • The Roof, Codys.
  • nil points! cody's on a sunday's usually got a shit band on..try the rec or coychurch rd footy club. watch out for iolo edger down the macworth in laleston from time to time...bridgend's answer to bob dylan-but a better class!
  • are there any? no cardiff is the place for live bands.
  • Bridgend Football Club, incredibly disgusting but allow bands to play on a regular basis. Bridgend Recreation Centre.
  • rec or bandstand at the pines
  • Cody's and Jumping Jacks had a fine band play in them once.
  • Cody's has regular live music. Polar Bears are top value if you can catch them there. I like my rockers rotund.......
  • Your having a laugh as i said nobody can play an instrument of any description Oh i tell a lie i once heared Darren Thomas whistle, but there's a shame he's lost his teeth now
  • As a musician I can honestly say that Bridgend has a truly amazing potential as a centre for live music, a potential which is sadly not being recognised.
  • The Rec has a few well known acts now and again ( The Dammed , Wishbone Ash )
  • Only pubs, but...

What is Knowhere?

The Knowhere Guide started out as a list of places to skateboard in the UK. It is a compilation of (unedited) information and views supplied by users like yourself. It is not a conventional tourist guide!

In most cases, the information in each section has been submitted by more than one contributor (the credits at the bottom of the page list some, but not all, of the contributors) and some of it dates back to the 1970s.

We make no claims as to the accuracy of the information in the Guide - our only purpose is to provide a forum for users to share their knowledge and opinions. So please keep a large bag of salt handy and be prepared to read between the lines!

If you disagree with a comment, or information is out of date, please submit an update! The contributors come from all walks of life, and their opinions are bound to be subjective, so if your view isn't represented, please speak up and contribute to the balance of the Guide. See below in the 'Have Your Say' section for how to add your voice.

If we have helped you out or made you laugh you can buy us a pint.

Have Your Say...

The Knowhere Guide depends entirely on real users for information. Please feel free to join in.

You can tell us more about Bridgend. This is also the method to use if you want to correct some of the information already here. (But please remember you're not mailing the person who actually wrote whatever-it-is.)

You can use the add an event form to tell us about events happening in Bridgend.

Or, if you'd just like to leave a message for other users of this site, take a look at The Knowhere Board (handy if you're just trying to get in touch with someone).
