• Top Shop, Top Man (Caroline Street) Loads of good designer stuff at MacArthur Glen Designer Outlets, Parc, Bridgend (just off J36 of the M4)
• * Apart from pines we have quite a good selection of shops, Top Shop, New Look, Top Man...ummmmmm there not actually all that good but we have a WH Smiths, Woolworths, Etam.....umm quite a lot of music stores.
• There are now about 50 trendy clothes shops in the first "Designer Outlet" centre to open in the UK. This is an experiment by out of town shopping centre developers aided by the former Tory government who ran the planning permission system to enable such places to destroy town centres forever. Designer Outlet shopping provides the comparison shopping that keeps the town centres alive if not kicking.
• Army stores, sports shops, lots of trendy shops. Though not according to reports in the summer of '95: "I can't think of any trendy clothes shops there at all! "

• Theres a few art shops in NOlton street

• the disappointment one feels when ooo look what's coming to town type events turn out to be non starters

• nolton art gallery on nolton street bridgend, round the corner from argos fab art shop selling bitz and pieces of everything pastels, acrylics, oils sketching materials everything i needed to see me through my art course at the tech...... i was even given a student discount.... take a look you might just be surprised i was , especially when i was told that i could exhibit my work. the girl that i was talking to at the time said that once a year year they will put on a student show where anybody can show they,re work get down there and see if mine is there and if it is pleeeeeeeese buy it as i am still a starving artist...... this computer is borrowed ...honest....

• Check out the fine display at the jewelry shop on the old stone bridge , see Iolo and if you decide you dont want anything there ( highly unlikely ) then Iolo will always be willing to have a chat and if you are lucky he will have his guitar, he the man .
• Lizzis on wyndham street is the only funky shop in town.

• Claypits pottery, Pottery Hill, Ewenny, Bridgend. Absolutely beautiful and definitely unique pottery and also gold and silver jewellery. They also have a gold shop on The Old Bridge, Bridgend, lots of celtic designs, handmade.
• There are no art'y people but plenty of crafty ones
• Nolton art gallery has moved (and by the way I'm not the owner - as the next comment will confirm) Cheesy watercolours (mainly) but a smattering of ARTtherein if you're prepared to look.The old post office in St Brides has turned itself into some kind of arty-farty arrangement and the name is prety silly (but it escapes me know) but the pots in the window look quite good!!!!
• Cerys Williams is the local freelance jeweller. Find her at Fetes and Fayers selling her erotic new age ( some might say tacky ) jewellery.
