Food

  • Jamiesons, Binfield. Absolutely the best food for miles around. Book early to avoid disappointment. The Shakara changed hands and went so far down hill it buried itself. Haka Chinese isn't bad.
  • Fish and Chips doon da 'Hollands
  • The Balti King at Easthampstead shops is the TOP place to go in Bracknell, try it.
  • Berni Inn which is the Manor was the first steak house around Bracknell, good food and Mr & Mrs Rossi welcome hosts
  • haka, the king of all chinese take-aways! 01344 862832, easthampstead!
  • Mcdonalds is shite, Burger king is shite, Kentucky is shite, they need a quality resturant not the hilton way too expensive.
  • Dorothy's Fish and Chip shop in Harmanswater do great food and when youre pissed up, the local kebab vans look appealing too.
  • Has anyone noticed that the price of pizzas in Bracknell appear to have trebled. 2 pizzas and garlic bread cost me 28.00 quid. I can buy the same in a supermarket for a third of the price, and its nicer!
  • The chinese takeaway at Birch Hill Neighbourhood Centre is just fab, Sweet n sour chicken a must!!
  • Someone got a deep fried mouse in their KFC bargain bucket one day.
  • Yorkshire Rose, Warfield.
  • Bring sandwiches!
  • Back on to the Kebab van's, The Running horse carpark WAS the best for many miles, but has had 3 changes of managment in the past year, food is precooked and reheated, where as it used to be thrown away if not sold that night. The Southern industrial estate has recently moved on through low sales. I am at present checking the others out BUT seem to be returning to Market Street (Behind the Point) where the portions are big, price is fair ALL chicken and burgers are cooked when ordered and the donar is greatnot too greasy and not too dry, only down side is they don't griddle the donar before serving UNLESS you ask really nicley. Staff are VERY friendly and have a laugh with you.
  • shikara (indian where simpsons was) is crap. stick with the passage, koh i noor, sultan balti house in gt hollands or the new one in easthampstead shops
  • Best pizza? HAS to be Herbies Pizza. Best kebab? At the moment I go to the one in the Southern Industrial Estate. Best chicken? Has to be KFC. Best Chicken Fajita's? Has to be my house...follow ya nose!!!!
  • 36.5% of Bracknell's popuplation is made up of Pizza delivery boys. The many roundabouts were designed to allow them to 'get their knees down'.
  • Uh Maccy D's but thats about it.
  • Passage to India nr town centre is OK. Dominos Pizza now in the town centre. Best Pizza, though, is Pizza Bakery in Easthampstead. Superb burgers too! Dodgy Simpsons Nightclub nr town centre shut down (good riddance) and is now an Indian
  • There's a drive-in KFC, a Beefeater and a Harvester.
  • I agree about the restaurants and eating out places - not enough good ones. I had a 'bad' experience at the 'Wooden Hut' in Binfield back in September of 96. My parents paid for us to go out for a nice family dinner. The service was 'appaling', the food was way over-priced, they didn't ask us if we were enjoying our meals at over 16 pounds a piece - not recommended!!
  • There's loads of Kebab vans, the best being in the car park of Bracknell Rugby Club.
  • Also there is Herbies pizza place (they deliver free as well).
  • Koh-I-Noor is indeed top class.
  • There's McD's and soon to be open BURGER KING (next to the new fountain).
  • Pizza Hut
  • Loads of other Chinese, Indian and pizza places (most do free home delivery too).
  • Koh I Noor, Indian Restaurant, excellent food and service.
  • Best Things: Bar Torino for heart stopping coffee and excellent food - if you like Italian style grub. Office fave : Pollo Milanese in a crusty baguette. Well done Franco! It's not cheap though - so you won't see many inmates from Bracknell College in there.

Pubs

  • God help us.... If the people drinking in Bracknell start looking any younger I'll be applying for OAP staus at 26. Please Hogs Head, Bar 38, anyone, rescue Bracknell and give us a trendy pub.
  • Fook All! Unless you want your head caved in.
  • The Boot has been done up...I think...
  • the pubs in bracknell serve anyone drink even underage i no pubs such as the manor, the oak, the running horse, the prince and i could go on and on
  • for a fresh faced croud try the gooose
  • The Royal Oak was a real old locals pub, small with low ceilings, no muskic or games machines, just chat and locals
  • The Red Lion The Bull The Goose
  • Who on earth got paid for praising the Running Horse Pub? I think you have been mis-led my friend, it's awful and it is full of under-age drinkers, the local bike and pals and should be driven past quickly. The Running Horse used to be sited where Ethyl is now, then it was a very small, friendly run country pub, that's when it was great. The best pub is the Forester's on the London Road heading towards Ascot. But if you want cheap then Bracknell Bowling Club is your answer- mind you its members only.
  • hard pushed to decided what to recommend theyre all pretty awful!
  • The manor is always packed on a Friday lunchtime - so don't even think about it, okay!
  • Hey no-one has mentioned the Runner - the spectactular pub on the huge roundabout - the only pub in Bracknell where you can get away from the normal dregs of Bracknell - no druggies, slappers etc - and a perfect pint!!!
  • Well...I hate to say it but I do tend to go to The Manor a lot. Don't know why really...the people are crap, the service is crap, there is no pool table and it smells of salt and vinegar. It does have good cheap drinks and it is very large for a pub....that is about it!!! (If you are into quizes I believe The Green Man pub to have the hardest quiz EVER!)
  • This list needs updating. The old manor has turned into sssssss*********tttt. full of morons. The bull and the twigg are also crap.
  • Frisco Jacks - Great during the afternoons, between 5-7, then all the usual Bracknell Riff Raff arrive, and the place turns into a boxing ring and a place where little skinheads who think they are 'Hard' start trouble!! Good entertainment if you like boxing (although not always so much fun when you are involved - especially when the bottles come out!!)
  • new town pippin harmans water sad s--t of a landlord & landlady a must see before they go OH PLEASE GOD
  • There are a few good pubs in Bracknell especially the Silver Birch in Birch Hill
  • South Hill Park really is the only thing that makes Bracknell bearable. It has 2 bars and the Cellar Bar where live bands and comedy are, plus art galleries, theatres and a small cinema. It's the place to go if you want to get away from legging clad pram pushing teenage mothers.
  • The Canny Man in Great Hollands, well near it anyway. I don't know where it is exactly but it's near the spar. Me and my mate Gems can be seen there on a Saturday night, usually outside, watching as the talent goes in and out, or summoning them to greet us. Whichever comes first.
  • The Prince of Wales (Thought I would add that.
  • All the pubs in bracknell are pretty crap really. Old Manor is best for good beer, but is full of students.
  • The Weather Vane - also does meals.
  • The William Twigg in Gt Hollands (even nicer).
  • The Bull (nice).
  • Rumour has it that the Market Inn will be transformed in to a 'Firkin' pub.
  • The Manor (no music but has excellent real ale festivals every now and then).
  • The Red Lion (packed full of schoolgirls on a Friday and Saturday).

Cafes and Coffee Shops

  • Bloody hilarious! Cafes and Coffee Shops in Bracknell???? Chippies and that Tea House for OAPS outside Woolies!!
  • the @ttic is good, its a cyber cafe
  • Starbucks (woo hoo!!!) Come join the boring clientele with the mind numbing lounge music which is elevator versions of things like hendrix etc. High prices for no atmosphere. Some of the staff are FIT!!!
  • Try Hammicks bookshop coffee shop, very nice - newspapers and all.
  • BB's has very nice coffee if youre into proper coffee - overpriced it is, but a nice setting where you can smoke, eat there overpriced but delicious sandwhiches and drink coffee, chat with a friend - the bracknell riffraff can rarely afford the prices to stay in there long enough ;p
  • To Go in Princess Square and the Crossway great food & Coffee but please opoen BOTH STORES ON A SATURDAY
  • There use to be a cafe in the co-op, the broadway and above the old international foodstores in Charles Square
  • Fontanas, B&B Muffins, Mountstevens.
  • BB's muffins is cool but expensive. But since im not home much it's a nice place to meet your mates and catch up on life.
  • They need a cannabis cafe cos 99.9% of the Bracknell population are potheads!
  • Bar Torino - you are joking, you can see "Mr Torino" in Sainsbury, Bracknell Town Centre buying all his goods to resell at a very high mark-up every working day!!!!!!
  • Go to any number of coffe shops or burger bars youre unlikely to be able to tell the difference between them
  • Bar Torino is a wonderful Itallian themed cafe in the town opposite the fountain. Try one of their Prawn Mayonaise baggettes with salad. They're great mate.
  • The best are all based in Ascot High Street, Bracknell couldn't compete if it wanted to as its totally classless!
  • May I recommend the hot chocolate at the Bentalls cafe. It is served in a tall glass, layed with whipped cream and then covered in chocolate dust....LOVERLY JUBBERLY!

What is Knowhere?

The Knowhere Guide started out as a list of places to skateboard in the UK. It is a compilation of (unedited) information and views supplied by users like yourself. It is not a conventional tourist guide!

In most cases, the information in each section has been submitted by more than one contributor (the credits at the bottom of the page list some, but not all, of the contributors) and some of it dates back to the 1970s.

We make no claims as to the accuracy of the information in the Guide - our only purpose is to provide a forum for users to share their knowledge and opinions. So please keep a large bag of salt handy and be prepared to read between the lines!

If you disagree with a comment, or information is out of date, please submit an update! The contributors come from all walks of life, and their opinions are bound to be subjective, so if your view isn't represented, please speak up and contribute to the balance of the Guide. See below in the 'Have Your Say' section for how to add your voice.

If we have helped you out or made you laugh you can buy us a pint.

Have Your Say...

The Knowhere Guide depends entirely on real users for information. Please feel free to join in.

You can tell us more about Bracknell. This is also the method to use if you want to correct some of the information already here. (But please remember you're not mailing the person who actually wrote whatever-it-is.)

You can use the add an event form to tell us about events happening in Bracknell.

Or, if you'd just like to leave a message for other users of this site, take a look at The Knowhere Board (handy if you're just trying to get in touch with someone).
