zoo bar in the west end good well crowded on saturday nights also crescent bar good one or two awkward doormen there though might turn you away good music there though
Sorry keeping this to myself - club tourism kills our local clubs! (try Ministry of Sound(Elephant, SW)! Out-of-towners will love it - they still have a great sound system.
barfly
Hombres off Oxford Street. Play great RnB but not the best place for going on the pull. Go with a group of friends for a laugh. Oh and pop into the pub nextdoor before going into the club, its got a kind of 'gothy' theme and sell cocktails/shots in test tubes!
Gossips in Meard Street for trashy and goth types. No shortage of flyers around the streets at night.
Capital club! Woah memories! Small but good atmosphere!
333 Old Street - thye don't care
the 12 bar club (off charing cross road) is a great place to spend an evening - they have live jazz/blues kind of music every night (not sure about sundays) and they're open till 1am...this is my favourite place to go out in london :) be warned - it's not a place to take large groups of people because it's tiny (about 40-50 people max) but that's one of the reasons it's so marvellous...lovely atmosphere, nice beer, good vodka and the music is fab :)
bagleys at the film studios is a good night out.legends in old burlington street is however by far the best night out in central london
Live Music Venues
camden has alot of places
Just go to camden
Best area for live pub music is Camden such as Dublin Castle, Parkway; Barfly, Chalk Farm Rd; Jazz Cafe, Parkway; Caernarvon Castle,Chalk Farm Rd; The Underworld, Opposite Tube; Purple Turtle,nr. Mornington Cres. station +various others
Ronnie Scotts in Soho. Great place, music til early hours. 100 Club in Oxford Street. Sometimes have great bands but rarely have any advertsing. It hasn't changed for years and is run in haphazzard way but it's quite fun.
barfly
12 Bar Club in Denmark Street - small, mainly acoustic dive - great people - some really good theme nights (punk, metal, showcases, etc)
The Goldsmiths Tavern in New Cross
Splash Club, Kings Cross Subterrania
Marquee
Borderline (0171 734 2095)
Cinemas
Sooo many cinemas - odeon, ugc (cineworld) and myvue are all over the place in central london. all of them are good places to go - no "best"
ugc at east india dock it is well nice cos the chairs are comfy and the screens are huge.
Prince Charles Cinema just north of Leicester Square. It's so cheap! - and they show some really good unusual stuff.
Leicester Square is the place to go!
Curzon Soho
Any Repertory cinema buffs, who often find themselves going on their own, to cinemas like The NFT or The Prince Charles, may like to check out 'London Cinema Social'. This is a free, and voluntary run club, where movie buffs, can meet and socialise at cinema events. To find out more click: http://uk.geocities.com/filmfan99uk
the abc on tottenham court road is always a good bet because they generally have a good selection of films and it's off the beaten track (ie: not leicester square) so it's never overcrowded.
The Knowhere Guide started out as a list of places to skateboard in the UK. It is a compilation of (unedited) information and views supplied by users like yourself. It is not a conventional tourist guide!
In most cases, the information in each section has been submitted by more than one contributor
(the credits at the bottom of the page list some, but not all, of the contributors) and some of it dates back to the 1970s.
We make no claims as to the accuracy of the information in the Guide - our only purpose is to provide a forum for users to share their knowledge and opinions. So please keep a large bag of salt handy and be prepared to read between the lines!
If you disagree with a comment, or information is out of date, please submit an update! The contributors come from all walks of life, and their opinions are bound to be subjective, so if your view isn't represented, please speak up and contribute to the balance of the Guide.
