  • Martin Kemp: Spandaou Ballet and Eastenders. He occassionally graces a school fete and acts as though everyone should be grateful.
  • Martin Kemp is planning to buy a flat in Valley Road. I've also spotted David Seaman on many occasions in the supermarket and in an estate agent (lucky beggar!)
  • Miss Howell!!! ex maths teacher from Rickmansworth school. Known for being v scary but v excellent at her job. If it wasn't for her i wouldn't be earning 30 grand at the age of 22!!!
  • Being a Mill End resident i can tell you that Geri Halliwell didn't grow up in Mill End. Her half sister lived in Church Lane, where Geri stayed for a while. She was actually brought up in Watford.
  • Geri Halliwells mum, Elton John, Martin Kemp, Graham Taylor, & more
  • Sam Thomas the celibrated yachtsman lives in Mill End. Tony Bolton (no relation to Michael Bolton)the well known Pop Star used to live just up the hill from Field Way. Ken Willis the well known lecturer in electrical engineering used to live in Mill End. If anyone knows of their whereabouts please email dwhite@dwatech.fsnet.co.uk
  • Er that bloke Steve Owen from Eastenders - the one who was in Spandua Ballet....Is oftern seen lurking in WHSmith on the High Street.
  • Dave James, author of West Australian historical book 'Climb When Ready', went to school in Ricky (St, Monica's RC School behind the Catholic Church 1955) - although he's barely known by anybody in Western Australia, let alone remembered by anybody in Ricky!
  • Dangerous Dave
  • Andrew Ridgley did leave in Mount View, I also live in that road and new of neighbours that were friends of the Ridgely's including George Michael. I believe that Val Doonican was last living in one of the big houses along the Batchworth Hill.
  • David Seaman actually lives in Belsize - Fact - Know his housekeeper !
  • Martin Kemp lives in Ricky as does Brian Conely of 'it's a puppet' fame

  • I think Irish 70's easy listening superstar Val Doonican used to live around Ricky somewhere.
  • After the break up of Wham, Andrew Ridgley opened up a bar called "92s". Unfortunately this was burnt down, and my personal opinion is that it was done by a Duran Duran fan. I am not 100% sure but I think George Michael and Andrew Ridgley came from Rickmansworth (or near about).
Andrew Ridgley did come from Rickmansworth. He actually grew up on a street called Mount View in Ricky. I actually saw him once when I was visiting friends who live across the street from his home.
Actually, George Michael came from Bushey. Him and other Wham! members used to work in the Ponda Rosa cafe in Watford until they became famous (and dumped the girls). I think Andrew R. lived close to Ricky though.

What is Knowhere?

The Knowhere Guide started out as a list of places to skateboard in the UK. It is a compilation of (unedited) information and views supplied by users like yourself. It is not a conventional tourist guide!

In most cases, the information in each section has been submitted by more than one contributor (the credits at the bottom of the page list some, but not all, of the contributors) and some of it dates back to the 1970s.

We make no claims as to the accuracy of the information in the Guide - our only purpose is to provide a forum for users to share their knowledge and opinions. So please keep a large bag of salt handy and be prepared to read between the lines!

If you disagree with a comment, or information is out of date, please submit an update! The contributors come from all walks of life, and their opinions are bound to be subjective, so if your view isn't represented, please speak up and contribute to the balance of the Guide. See below in the 'Have Your Say' section for how to add your voice.

If we have helped you out or made you laugh you can buy us a pint.

Have Your Say...

The Knowhere Guide depends entirely on real users for information. Please feel free to join in.

You can tell us more about Rickmansworth. This is also the method to use if you want to correct some of the information already here. (But please remember you're not mailing the person who actually wrote whatever-it-is.)

You can use the add an event form to tell us about events happening in Rickmansworth.

Or, if you'd just like to leave a message for other users of this site, take a look at The Knowhere Board (handy if you're just trying to get in touch with someone).
