Skateboarding Spots

  • end of st leonards road its rare no chavs it rocks
  • Westcliff 6 set is a great place to skate, just outside the westcliff C2C station, there is also a 3 set there too
  • i do trails and dirt but b&q and under focus.the front wall at westcliff
  • it aint in southend but the best hook up spot has gotta be the skating ramp at clements hall. ive been there a few times to see what its like and all they do is moan about how everyone in southend are "chavs" or "slags". tossers.
  • These have all gone - either that or you can't skate there anymore unless your rocking some sims
  • CIVIC CENTRE! SKATE CENTRAL NO CHAVS IT ROCKS IN SOUTHEND GO THERE I HANG THERE N SKATE SEE IF U CAN FIND ME...PEACE OUT!
  • right, start at the odeon great floor totally cool beware of the people trust me!you will see a spiral stair slope goes up to the next level, good spot to skate soo much room its untrue grungers hang there but they dont annoy skaters.if not southend try rayleigh in the park some half pipes grind rail.CHAVS! yes they are there but when you deleiberatly kick flip a board at them they dont come back for a few days atleast.appart from that.runnymeade, speed bumps to practice ollying, curbs, its a massive car park...i almost forgot handrails are awsome there defenatly somewhere to go mind the counsellors (counsil offices lol)its basically the swimming pool car park but with rails like that it should be full of skaters.
  • in southend when you go to argos go up the stairs or lift or moving stair thingy and there is abbandoned shops out side there is great flooring for beginers, beware of the police man that walks round, chav central but who cars because you can hit them like i did
  • Civic carpark, black deff 7&4, the crappy banks out side the library, courthouse 2 ,3 and road gap, chalkwell beach! civic 8, red cycle path gap the list goes on but to be honest what southend really needs is a counsil skate park thats been thought through and with a decent budget like we were promised.
  • skateboard spots...hmmm....well i used to go skate on the mini half pipe on progress rd...had sum gd times there...broke me ankle nd split me head open...but hey! skateboardin aint no fun until u break summink rite??
  • well, i would say Shoebury skatepark, but since ppl have been stealing the half pipes and hip pipes, and trying to run away wit the benches, its turned into a dump. I used to skate there (yes a goth girl can skate), and its just gone down hill majorly.
  • quite a few are round by the libary or the police station but the best place is down a quite one way road just off town, cant remember the name of it(opposite southend central station)
  • the court rooms by southend library has a 3 stair , theres black death , the boxes by the library are pretty cool with the slopes on the sides so quite like a ramp realy , safeways crapark in leigh is good when its shut at 9 o clok at nite but if ur goin on sunday it shuts at 4
  • there's a carpark opposite safeways carpark entrance in leigh. Its got this huge ledge and loads of stuff hanging about so you can build something.
  • Rayleigh high street enuff said.Mainly near the Mill.
  • not a skater although i used to roller skate over safeways eastwood..
  • If you guy's are struggling for ramps and tarmac how about moving onto dirt - MOUNTAIN BOARDING?!! Really fast, really extreme, just mad! Loads of different boards in the new shop in Hamstel Road, Southend, UP 4 KITING.
  • That area around the Civic Centre can be pretty cool. B&Q carpark when it's closed.
  • skate spots in town are victoria road, theres a 2 stair ,3 stair ,4 stair, 5 stair,6 stair and a 7 stair but then it jumps up to a 22 stair if ur one f the flip team. B & Q car park at 4 o clock on a sunday is packed out wid skaters and kicker ramps, this is most sunays not every 1. job center has good curbs but sk8 it on a saterday and sunday only. iff u go to holy famil (its a scool in thundersly, it has two 3 stairs and 1 of the stairs is into a flatbank and the other has an hand rail bout 3 decks hi whick is so cool.
  • Southend seafront: waxed ledge, crap 5 set, new 3 set near pier, 10 on the bridge near pier 5 and 3 near ten. Civic centre: 7 set handrail round back of black death(huge 4 set), carby house, 2 set, 2 car parks (one with manual box and one with gap), 5 and 7 at office building, banks outside library, blocks and small 5 set the other side of library. Tesco 5 set aswell.
  • Civic Centre area. There's black death, Courthouse, all the civic stair sets. Chalkwell beach can be a good skate, as well as pier hill, Holy Family, Runnymede... no skate parks apart from rampage. No street parks. Might aswell just go to London.
  • used to be a rollerskater myself..not Blades!.. I think the skate-board park at 2-tree island has closed now, so a nice skate along the seafront is good.
  • there's a wicked marble bench in town centre that curves that looks sick
  • Queensway car park, opposite the back of argos attracts little sk8er dudes, and opposite southend library.
  • ok, the best places 2 skate in southend have already been ruined, Cliffs 4 has had 2 rows with gaps put infront of them, courthouse 2 runup is full of cracks, grungers have taken over queensway and are slowly but surely taking over b and q. this is all since tony hawk and his games attracted mindless retards into sk8ing, so stop littering and go wen a security guard kicks u out and stop being such retards. The BEST places 2 skate are b&q (obviously) anywhere along victoria avenue and my personal favourite, the unloadiig bay on top of the royals, ledges of all sizes but a 20 minute skate at the most,(beware of the rudey security guard!!!!)
  • outside the bus stop next to argos is Queensway car park which is quite old and not used as much as it used to be but it is underground therefore weather resistant and has a few long waxed sloping kerbs.
  • Middle of Rayleigh Highstreet. If u like a walk first (but u can ride most of it) then Rayleigh Weir where Texas used to be behind Sainsburys!
  • SORRY BUT SOUTHEND SUCKS FOR SKATING COME ON COUNCIL BUILD US AN INDOOR SKATEPARK WHERE IT DOESNT GET ROTTEN AND YOBS AND LOUTS HANG OUT. COUNCIL IF YOU READ THIS A GREAT PLACE FOR A SKATE PARK WOULD BE THE HAMLET COURT ROAD SITE WHERE THE HOTEL USED TO BE ITS RIGHT NEXT TO THE TRAIN STATION AND IT WOULD BRING BUISENESS IN FOR LOCAL TRADERS.
  • Bench outside BT Cellnet
  • ok outside southend library, theres all these bump things, loada skateboards go there!!! but its not that good anymore, not many boarders go there but the ramps are still good.
  • b and q on a sunday after 4
  • B&Q, farringdons, Lidls, seafront, Leigh ramps, uhhh victoria ave
  • Prittlewell School, theres a couple of drops, stairs , rails and stuff. Only problem is a couple of wannabe rudeboys who hang around, but we've never been bothered by them.
  • B&Q is the main place at 4:00pm on Sunday. A few poles and walls there. Lidls has a great wall which I waxed thank you very much! Top of the Royals is good but we always get chucked out there. Underneath the Job Centre is the main place to be when it's raining, loads of people turn up there though it's crap, ther is just one curb. Farringdon car-park is pretty good, steps and curbs. There are loads of places, but the main one is near the Library, there is a 3-step, 7-step, and a 5-step. 5 waxed walls, rampy things (hard), but it ain't very good ground. Oh yeah and 'Black Death' is five metal stairs which is called so because so many people break bones (trying to) olly it.
  • Everywhere in Southend rules
  • ok there is loads of places where me and my mates go to skate there's the civic center car park which is really smooth and has some slidable curbs and the infamous gap where kids break their heads open trying to jump of this platform and over the curb. also the legendary farringdon carpark where hundreds of people turn up in cars and skate their tits off although personally the place bores me shitless. my favorite place is at the top of the royals shopping center where the produce delivery car park is you go up the big slope to get to it and there is loads of curbs, ledges and sandbags to play around with
  • Half way down pier hill, under palace hotel, skateboard areana.
  • Bit of 4 x 4 and a set of corgi car wheels is all they need- any boot sale.
  • B & Q, Farringdon car park, College Stairs, Royal stairs, Lloyds Bank, Victoria Avenue. Steps at the top of Pier Hill, Oakwood Park mini ramp (low, easy to ride) also Asda in Shoeburyness and don't forget Leigh on Sea.

Skateboard Shops

  • limit southend
  • Limit
  • Limit SKATE SHOP! Used to be in Basildon, I'm a native!
  • theres a shit shop called limit, its real crap.
  • Well Methodz was the best, but if you like black go to theshitty place by quickfit round about
  • Jelly Mumbos is decent enough, always nice and give you some breathing space to browse. Answer any questions to the best of their ability, cool environment. I was dissapointed to be mislead about Limit. There's a difference between skater-owned shop and shop owned by someone who owns a skateboard, not to mention the guy behind the counter ripping how I dressed. I don't think he knows how loud he actually talks. X-Isle is ok, albeit a tad on the pricey side. Nice enough selection.
  • Limit Skates on the london road coming into southend, absouloutley rocks.
  • i get most of my decks off the net...but Limit skates aint 2 bad...nd they do clothin 2...nearest thing 2 the skate shop in Camden Lock..
  • Limit on London road is the shop, run by skaters for skaters, Alex in Xilse don't know anything, he's a wakeboarder not a skater hasn't got a clue about skate stuff
  • X-Isle is the best shop around for clothes, decks and all things cool. Alex is a genuinely nice guy who knows what he is talking about. Have a good chat with him and he will do you a cracking deal
  • Jelly Mumbo's, Limit now have a nice range of trucks, wheels, bearngs, etc. however, i used to go to london for all my skating needs. I havnt skated in a while though so my board will need some work.
  • there is one down town outside the royals or one down london road. both are shite
  • xcile is quite good but bloody expensive , jelly mumbos is da worst shop 4 stuff cos theyre never open , hoax in chelmsford is da best place if u want shoes n decks , trucks wheels etc.....
  • Why not get a power kite from up4kiting in Hamstel Rd. I recently did service was good, the guy cut me a deal. Lots of decks and stuff too. www.up4kiting.co.uk
  • New Limit store bigger better 84 London Road southned on sea, opposite the town centre sainsburys still independent and skater owned forever
  • no offence but steve in Limit chats to everyone he's well cool and he even grips decks that aren't bought from Limit, he never gives evils maybe your just being paranoid trust me go up Limit and speak to steve and you will get a massive chat about skating music what ever he's well cool. not gripping decks at the weekend? not a skate attitude to have no offence to x isle but its not even a skate shop the dude in there is like a wake boarder or something not a skoater but each to their own
  • exciles is well good but jelly mumbos has go down really badly
  • there's a new one opening in june its going to be 84 london road by sainsburys rumor has it they will stock like 100 decks from all the top brNDS AND ITS SKATER OWNED
  • the dude in X-ile is alot friendlier that the dude in limit. im not dissing him or anything but i think he's got it in 4 me coz he just gives me evils wenever im in there. but the dude in X-ile was more than happy to grip a deck i bought there even though he dont usualy do that on a weekend. he even had a conversation with me about he was hoping it wud snow. the most steve in limit has ever dun to have a conversation with me is asking me if i wanted a recipt
  • Used to be rad city if now then er toys r us?no no wings on wheels?
  • i know of jelly mumbos...buts its never open when i drive past it
  • Sk8 stuff available from Up 4 Kiting along Hamstel Road, Southchurch. Near Jayz Cycles. Got loads of mad stuff. Mountain boarding and power kite shop.
  • Jelly Mumbo's along London Road (past Hamlet Court Road on the way out from town) is pretty good.
  • jelly mumbos is poor you need a tetanus shot just to go in there fuck HOAX! support small skate stores but unfortunately jellys is dirty
  • JELLY MUMBOS, london raod. x - isle on side of the royles.
  • next to the royals theres a real cool shop and its real small
  • X-isle. Jelly Mumbos sucks. Why not just order the damn things!?
  • jelly mumbos!!
  • Limit skate shop in Basildon is nearby that rocks cheap as chips
  • X-isle is for skateboarders, surfers and stuff, abit lame and small really. Jellymumbos is for skateboarders, sadly it sucks BADLY.
  • Jelly Mumbos!!! go there, its good!!!
  • There is only 1 real skateboarding shop and that is a shop called Jelly Mumbos that is on london road (the road that comes off of southend) there is one other called Xile which is a surfing shop although it sells a few decks trucks and shit like that...
  • X-Isle, Jelly Mumbo's and theres another one but i forget its name!
  • Skate & Surf shop near the Royals run by a guy called Alex. Alex is the most enthusiastic person I have ever met in my life! I would buy anything off him..........and have!!
  • X--ISLE X-ISLE X-ISLE X-SLE X-SLE I THINK YOU GET WHAT I GETTING AT
  • ex-isle quite a nifty joint, friendly cool and caustrophobic.
  • Exile
  • x-isle,jellt mumbos and the other ones which i cant remember but the park at peir hill is now closed!
  • jelly mumbos is a good skatebord shop it's near hamlet cort road. or the one near the royals.
  • Jelly mumbos X-isle
  • There is X-Isle which is very small but good prices and it's near the seafront. Down London Road there is Dreamland and Jelly Mumbo's which are okay, but X-Isle is still better.
  • well, there is only one isn't there?
  • There used to be one opposite chalkwell park. Don't know of any others though :(
  • Speed Factory, X-isle (cool blole in there who surfs and shit and gives reductions if your nice!!), Jelly Mumbos - all sell some good baggy clothes and some smart skater gear!!
  • Methodz-This is the best skate shop around, the guys in there are really cool and they have a big range of products at good prices.
  • jelly mumbos is the best 'cause the guys in there are really freindly and you can hang out with them all day watching sakte videos if the weather's shit
  • It's not a shop, but halfway down Pier hill, under Palace hotel, there is a skateboard arena. Open all week about £3 for half a day. Pretty cool apparently
  • new one in chalkwall
  • Wings and Wheels. There's a half decent shop opposite the Sun Rooms with Alien Workshop, Quicksilver etc. Tacky "snowboard" shop has recently opened in Alexandra Road. It's shit.

What is Knowhere?

The Knowhere Guide started out as a list of places to skateboard in the UK. It is a compilation of (unedited) information and views supplied by users like yourself. It is not a conventional tourist guide!

In most cases, the information in each section has been submitted by more than one contributor (the credits at the bottom of the page list some, but not all, of the contributors) and some of it dates back to the 1970s.

We make no claims as to the accuracy of the information in the Guide - our only purpose is to provide a forum for users to share their knowledge and opinions. So please keep a large bag of salt handy and be prepared to read between the lines!

If you disagree with a comment, or information is out of date, please submit an update! The contributors come from all walks of life, and their opinions are bound to be subjective, so if your view isn't represented, please speak up and contribute to the balance of the Guide. See below in the 'Have Your Say' section for how to add your voice.

If we have helped you out or made you laugh you can buy us a pint.

Have Your Say...

The Knowhere Guide depends entirely on real users for information. Please feel free to join in.

You can tell us more about Southend. This is also the method to use if you want to correct some of the information already here. (But please remember you're not mailing the person who actually wrote whatever-it-is.)

You can use the add an event form to tell us about events happening in Southend.

Or, if you'd just like to leave a message for other users of this site, take a look at The Knowhere Board (handy if you're just trying to get in touch with someone).
