Hook-up Spots (That hallowed spot where everyone hangs around with their mates dreaming of the time when they can get into the pubs or clubs - a bench, a corner: you name it.)

  • once you have your cider about every park or bench in b'stoke is perfect to sit with your mates and just dream of when you can actually be able to get into the bars and one club that b'stoke has to offer. i mean sittin on the grass over forthill field winklebury is about as exciting as the night life in the town is anyway. just a few places: benches in castle hill school great cover from trees police never spot ya. corner of the forthill field brillient little campsite area until local residents complain. also the spinny woods over by the hospital sit and admire the 100s of burnt out moters.
  • Whiteditch Park, Oakridge - Cider and fighting. The Hippy Tree, Vyne School Field - Stoner heaven
  • For the melancholy and solitary (poet, philosopher or just plain anti-social), Hatch Warren Park in Brighton Hill. You could stand here for eternity and guarantee that nobody you know will pass!
  • people (especially under-age teenagers always seem to hang out in the local parks or the local shops with a bottle of White Lightning and a pack of 10 cigs!
  • Soldiers Returm playing field, many a sly spiff smoked there in my youth !
  • the wall outside the back of the shopping centre, the statue and the general floor area around there..and outisde the train station
  • the big ruined bit of the Holy Ghost church. search for 'the Lost Tresure of Elvis the Tramp's Housing Benifit Money!'if you are lucky, you can find me mate Dave tryin' to impress his bird by jumpin' of the very top of the ruins, or the rest of us lightin' fires.
  • off best, sk8 park, civic, mc donalds,
  • Just a point about the tadley skate "park" (or should i say two ramps and a jump box) Dont bother to go unless you have plenty of spare fags, a bottle of white lightning, can out run your average Piky. Its not a place for beginners trust me.
  • Eastrop Park. When I was living with my fiancee in Rosebanks we used to go there, ride our bikes around a bit along the cycle path and look forward to the day when we left for the bright lights of Watford. (That sounds soooo depressing doesn't it?)
  • The Portsmouth Arms in Hatch Warren
  • Off Beat Sports, just down the street from Mcdonalds, you will find most of the skaters in here at one point or another in the day, and if you need knowledge on sk8 spots just ask Brains or Sean who work there.
  • Memorial park, benches between Willis Musuem and McDonalds, the disgusting old bus station which has been got rid of and will not be replaced for ages..
  • The bench by McDonalds
  • Outside Budgens in the car park - favourite place for skateboarding, cycling dimwits who haven't yet realised they've build a skateboarding ramp on Tadley Common. Also any bus stop...
  • Outside Basingstoke's superb lime green ice rink. Place to find Rinkies, foreign substances, the odd 2 litre bottle of White Lighting Cider, and usually a smack in the face if you stare at someones bird for too long. If however you venture inside you can spend a top night with the 12 years olds high on glue listening to top tunes spun on the wheels of steel by DJ Image and Tim Love.... NICE !!!!!! Also see Bowling alley - if you're fake I.D can get you past the bouncers? Probably not!!!
  • I left Basingstoke two years ago and go back very rarely, but is its true, we do all sound like we come from the Queen Vic, hence my nickname at Uni; Cockney Bird. It is dangerous after 11.15pm, unless you are worth knowing. The only good thing to have appear since my last visit is Rhu Bar, a great place for a clicky drink with the rest of the clicky population of Basingstoke!
  • M&W Bustop, Oakridge (Cheap cider etc.)
  • The bandstand thingummy in the park. In fact, the whole park pretty much. The only nice part of Bstoke when they're not using it for some tacky event. Tokers heaven.
  • The Bat Cave
  • Anywhere near the DSS Office
  • The bus station, along with all pervuading smell of urine and chips from the chippie in the New Market Square Gather at night and watch the residents of Tadley and Aldermaston board their busses back to obscurity, do not do this during a full moon, as the inhabitants of Alermaston glow in the dark on account of all the radiation!
  • From the ghost-town like appearance of the place at night, I can only assume the answer to this question must be: Their own front rooms.
  • Sadly, Playgrounds throughout Black Dam, also Town Centre on w/ends
  • Most people loiter around the bus and/or train stations, trains and buses come and go, and they still wait!!
  • Cafe Rouge does a mean cappucino, but too many posers with mobiles!
  • Memorial Park.
  • Outside McDonalds on the circular benches in the Market Square.

What is Knowhere?

The Knowhere Guide started out as a list of places to skateboard in the UK. It is a compilation of (unedited) information and views supplied by users like yourself. It is not a conventional tourist guide!

In most cases, the information in each section has been submitted by more than one contributor (the credits at the bottom of the page list some, but not all, of the contributors) and some of it dates back to the 1970s.

We make no claims as to the accuracy of the information in the Guide - our only purpose is to provide a forum for users to share their knowledge and opinions. So please keep a large bag of salt handy and be prepared to read between the lines!

If you disagree with a comment, or information is out of date, please submit an update! The contributors come from all walks of life, and their opinions are bound to be subjective, so if your view isn't represented, please speak up and contribute to the balance of the Guide. See below in the 'Have Your Say' section for how to add your voice.

If we have helped you out or made you laugh you can buy us a pint.

Have Your Say...

The Knowhere Guide depends entirely on real users for information. Please feel free to join in.

You can tell us more about Basingstoke. This is also the method to use if you want to correct some of the information already here. (But please remember you're not mailing the person who actually wrote whatever-it-is.)

You can use the add an event form to tell us about events happening in Basingstoke.

Or, if you'd just like to leave a message for other users of this site, take a look at The Knowhere Board (handy if you're just trying to get in touch with someone).
