Bicycle Shops, Bike Sales and Repairs

  • freespirit
  • winklebury cycles basingstoke. amazing bike shop must have over 2000 bikes on show, great repair service and very prompt i must say.and the staff know there bikes and they advise you on any upgrades you need to make on your cycle. great shop loads to see
  • pedal on
  • action bikes! jamie the guy who works there is a nutter!
  • WINKLEBURY CYCLES AT WINKLEBURY CENTRE BASINGSTOKE IS REALLY COOL THE GREATIST BIKE SHOP AROUND AND LOADS OF BIKES LOTS OF MOUNTAIN BIKES AND RACERS
  • NEW "push bikes" shop opened up near to wilkinsons and the anvil, havent been in there yet but it sure looks different from halfords with the dodgy new sign that looks like some un educated "artist" has done whilst being exstremly out of their head. in the shop opposite the hammicks bookshop there is a basement full of nice bikes with wheels and an on premises mountian bike mechanic (wahoo). Up at the brighton hill retail part 2 outlets sell push bikes. There is also Action bikes or what ever it is called now, must have changed its name around 5 times in the past 7 years sells mountain bikes and racing bikes. YAHMAHA bikes sell suprisingly motorbikes near kempshott industrial park.
  • Action Bikes - not bad, caters for all types of cyclist.
  • Yeah there's some good bike shops (cycle), and a motorbike shop on the outskirts of town.
  • Yep, we got one of each - Bicycles at 'Pedal On', Bishopswood Road, Motorbikes at Des Helyar, Pamber Heath Road.
  • A Few - Maclaines etc. Not really my cup of tea. Expensive I guess.
  • Halfords, Brighton Hill roundabout. Overpriced and stuff so-so quality but at least it's open late during the week and on Sundays
  • Maclaines Cycout on Wote St. is good for decent mountain bikes - and the staff are friendly.

BMX Trails, Street Spots

  • all of the above is absolute rubbish the spine has a 4FT sub and 7FT extentions, there is a metal sk8 park with a 6FT quaterpipe,4FT jump box along with a 5FT hip. there are some secret trails but if you find a guy called geoff and bribe him with food he might take you there! don't listen to all the political rubbish that goes on just ride! if you need to be shown around look for a guy with a shaved head and tattoos called tom.
  • go to the marble ledges in town its all rite for grinds or oakly people say its shit but its rad the 1/4 pipe and 1/2 pipe are so smooth the shit pit in down grange is a good dirt spot with a 5 pack recently built and new bits to be built next summer 2005 the bus station drop off point nere liquids good when wet coz its undercover but quite allot of woodpushers but there safe.errrrr one of the best places is winklebury spine mainly coz it got built again and its pretty nice once u get used to it it has a 5ft sub on it now so go down there before it gets burnt down.......again

What is Knowhere?

The Knowhere Guide started out as a list of places to skateboard in the UK. It is a compilation of (unedited) information and views supplied by users like yourself. It is not a conventional tourist guide!

In most cases, the information in each section has been submitted by more than one contributor (the credits at the bottom of the page list some, but not all, of the contributors) and some of it dates back to the 1970s.

We make no claims as to the accuracy of the information in the Guide - our only purpose is to provide a forum for users to share their knowledge and opinions. So please keep a large bag of salt handy and be prepared to read between the lines!

If you disagree with a comment, or information is out of date, please submit an update! The contributors come from all walks of life, and their opinions are bound to be subjective, so if your view isn't represented, please speak up and contribute to the balance of the Guide. See below in the 'Have Your Say' section for how to add your voice.

If we have helped you out or made you laugh you can buy us a pint.

Have Your Say...

The Knowhere Guide depends entirely on real users for information. Please feel free to join in.

You can tell us more about Basingstoke. This is also the method to use if you want to correct some of the information already here. (But please remember you're not mailing the person who actually wrote whatever-it-is.)

You can use the add an event form to tell us about events happening in Basingstoke.

Or, if you'd just like to leave a message for other users of this site, take a look at The Knowhere Board (handy if you're just trying to get in touch with someone).
