  • kfc is better than Mds, its a dam sight cleaner 4 a start
  • jasmine house (chinese) on leamo
  • Now this is a strange thing because it seems that people buy food from the many outlets in Sutton then they throw it away onto the Streets (its no wonder there are the many rats about.(STOP IT NOW).
  • Outram street, ranges from pizza to indian...
  • Pavement fish bar best in Sutton, cheap aswell!!!!!!!!!
  • Mcd's Kfc etc etc, Theres the usa chicken place aswell!! and i would strongly recomend Jasmine house! for oriental food
  • Maccy D's, KFC, USA Express Chicken, Papa's Pizza's, numerous chippys
  • Prego on Brook Street. What I want to know is, before it was Prego it was the Welcome Cafe. Prego is Italian for 'Your Welcome'. Is this coincidence or what?
  • Try Teversal Grange Country Inn & Restaurant a bit off the beaten track but well worth a visit arare family run hoselry with excellent food must be one of the best venues in Nottinghamshire

  • Mcdonalds. KFC (nearly)
  • Hmmmm, oh yeah! KFC, Mc Donalds, USA chicken and... and er...?
  • McDonald's, a few chippies, Indian, Chinese, pizza all readily available. An Italian restaurant on Outram Street. The Snipe on the outskirts of town is a good pub/restaurant. Try the gammon.
  • Bekash Indian Restaurant (Outram Street) - National reputation, intimate, great food. Don't go if in a rush though, service can sometimes be slow. Pregos (Brook Street) does good, relatively cheap italian meals, very lively and friendly. The meals on the specials board are often worth a try.
  • try the white swan the have givin it a face lift looked quite good now foods great
  • There are at least six or seven chippies/chinese takeaways within a mile and a half radius of Skegby. The best being, Forest Road Chippy and China Chef on Mansfield Road.
  • Lots of bakers selling sanwiches, sausage rolls, etc, during the day. Plentiful chippies, try Fridays on Carsic Lane. McDonalds (drive-thru) is your best bet. If your really out to impress, try Prego (Italian-quite cheap) or Windsors (French-quite expensive).

Pubs

  • Town Mill for rock and some indie bands.
  • King and Miller..on Mansfield Road ..Nice pub with a nice atmosphere!
  • The Anchor has gone!
  • All shite
  • The shakespear inn on high pavement was my local from 17-21 when it was run by a right loser called dave darington,he was no good as a landlord as he used to get drunk and TRY to start fights with the punters and also TRIED to pull some 2. Im glad i got barred from there for taking his so called custom(they were my mates and they were as bored with his pub as me)
  • Progressive Club, Stanton hill
  • nags head (where they allow underagers) denmans head
  • Right then, there's a new land lord in Bar Zizz, and the place still looks fantastic, nothing unmentionable on the seats of yet! no fighting, no drugs. and the beers fantastic! open to gay and straight alike!
  • tom's left the denny's.!!!! a pint will never taste the same again (thankfully)
  • the woolpack opposit halfords
  • nags head, first base, apollo, shakespeare (shaky), blue bell, white swan
  • the bloke from sutton centre can sometimes be found in weatherspoons. he has cut off all his blonde hair and is now very funky but dark , still very fit and i pulled him yeah!!!!!!!!
  • Most pubs in sutton quite terrifying,
  • fox & crown used to be great, now very tardy but here's hoping for a better day now the landlady has gone............ ashfield has completely rejuvenated itself, brilliant, and the food is excellent too - try the teriyaki steak
  • the cardinal, its got to be the cleanest around, rather up market for the town actually!
  • DONT FORGET THE BEST MANSFIELD HOUSE IN SUTTON. SPEED THE PLOUGH ON MANSFIELD RD IT HAS GOT TO BE THE FRIENDLIEST PUB AROUND AND ONE OF THE CHEAPEST!!!!. SMALL OLD FASHIONED BOOZER WITH DARTS DOMINOES , SKITTLES AND PROBABLY THE BEST KARAOKE IN TOWN ON A SAT NITE
  • There was at one time 42 pubs in Sutton (bet you cant list them all that are still open. Then include all the clubs & welfares.(go on have ago ask your Mam & Dad.)
  • me fave place for beer is the nags head where I have a few beers with my main drinking pal the mullet king. You can also see me in the grouse with my other mate the viking and his mate shawy. On a saturday afternoon catch me in the spoons with my cousin 'the donkey'
  • Don`t forget the Rifle volunteer just outside sutton going towards skegby, Excellent beer and good food too !!
  • The list is endless, u might wana wear a scalf as none of em have windows, if u wana fight go to nagshead or woolpack...
  • Those buildings which quite a lot of people stagger out of at closing time dotted all over the place.
  • Try LFB`S Rose and Crown.NEWLY extended. An original old pub, Darts, dominoes, skittles and football teams.Old time piano on weds.with free pie and pea supper at 10pm.Great Saturday nights, live entertainment.Over 30`s crowd no hassle with under age drinkers, just not that type of pub.Come and try out this great little pub, don`t forget to ask what the LFB stands for.
  • Bar Zizz is very nice but doesn't look like it belongs in Sutton or down Newcastle Street, I give it 2 months before it's complettely wrecked and the chairs are marked with something unmentionable.
  • Everytime you go, you get hit if you look at someone, so dont look at anyone! Best pubs are Charlies and Diamond.
  • Don't go to the Anchor in Skeby. They shut it.
  • woolpack
  • the denmans head, who is the guy with the grey coat and beard who appears to have taken root there?
  • only go into a pub in sutton if you are pissed.
  • They've got a weatherspoons pub......See Food (RE: KFC)
  • Many, where else do they go on a firday.
  • The Nags Head! You WILL get served, trust me- make a fake ID like I do!
  • the travellers rest has got to be one of the nicest pub sutton has to offer there is a good selection of drinks, nice bar staff and a good allround atmosphere
  • well you think sutton is rough, maybe you dont come from round here!!!! best place is the denmands head right good beer, maybe we dont see any fighting cause were in the right crowd or weather its just the usual lot that cause it
  • Nobody has mentioned how bad Tom's ale (Denmans) is!!!!!!
  • The Witch and the Wardrobe. One of the most popular as it is en-route to Mansfield.
  • In the centre of town the only 'real' pub is the Denmans Head. DON'T BE FRIGHTENEND, have a look. Best beer usually at the Mansfield houses, eg Blue Bell, Apollo, Travellers rest.
  • Portland Arms, Peacock, Travellers Rest, Staff Of Life, Mapplewells Inn
  • Loads, but unfortunately frequented by LOTS of old men and ageing slappers. Try both the Blue Bell pubs, one on Lammas Rd and other on Mansfield Rd. You could try the Red Grouse (Mansfield Rd) but I don't like it personally.

Cafes and Coffee Shops

  • One in the town shopping centre..right smack bang in the middle of every thing ..kind of a open plan coffee shop..nice though!
  • Anybody remember the Rat Cafe? Chip cob & beans for 50p
  • the new one thats opened across the road from morells top pets and the florists, it looks quite up market, which makes a change for sutton.
  • The coffe bar just off Low St in the 1960s was (I think), called the "carrioca Bar"
  • wicked breakfast at maggies
  • the rat cafe, i almost got a job there once but just couldnt get on with the toe bittin rodents around the place
  • The person asking for the Cafe off Low Street was "The Karioki" (i think thats how you spell it).Now think of this name "Karioki" we in Sutton had a cafe named this in the early 1960s then all of a suden in the 1980s there this pub thing called "Karioki" & the name goes Nation wide.I am not saying that the person who named this cafe in Sutton invented the name but the question is why did he put the name to the cafe in 1960 (where did he get the name from???)
  • They only sell alchohol....
  • the thing in middle of idlewells!!!! did u not notice it, and theres a nice shop on outram street

What is Knowhere?

The Knowhere Guide started out as a list of places to skateboard in the UK. It is a compilation of (unedited) information and views supplied by users like yourself. It is not a conventional tourist guide!

In most cases, the information in each section has been submitted by more than one contributor (the credits at the bottom of the page list some, but not all, of the contributors) and some of it dates back to the 1970s.

We make no claims as to the accuracy of the information in the Guide - our only purpose is to provide a forum for users to share their knowledge and opinions. So please keep a large bag of salt handy and be prepared to read between the lines!

If you disagree with a comment, or information is out of date, please submit an update! The contributors come from all walks of life, and their opinions are bound to be subjective, so if your view isn't represented, please speak up and contribute to the balance of the Guide. See below in the 'Have Your Say' section for how to add your voice.

If we have helped you out or made you laugh you can buy us a pint.
