Clubs (Dance Music) and Music Bars

  • Echos on a friday for rock music and a bit of drum and bas thrown in, good offers on drinks, and security staff who turn a blind eye to the odd bit of toot or X. vice versa is played out, after you go there a while you get bored. used to like it now i don't
  • Teca has been bought and is re-opening as 'Rapture' in September, lots of new nights planned and a total refit i hear. Lets hope so!
  • The Union is the only place you need to go!
  • VICE VERSA, Vice really isn't that bad and i resent that comment about underage drinking and pub brawls, Vice is a great place to go but people tend to forget that vice isn't strictly a night club, they open 7 nights a week and open every day but sunday too, Monday Wednesday and Fridays are the best nights in there as that is when the best DJ is in, but the other nights aren't too bad, they have a seperate bar downstairs with a seperate DJ and he's pretty good too, IF YOUR EVER IN LOUGHBOROUGH THEN HEAD STRAIGHT TO VICE!!!!!
  • it seems to me door staff in loughborough should calm it!! a suit and tie dont make you the top dog! vice versa bouncers are particually predgergist to who they let in if they dont like the look of you every one knows! Bar Zero on the other hand may look small but it is big in atmosphere and music, its a really friendly place to go and in all the time of going there i have only seen trouble once (and belive me i go at least three times a week} tuesday is gay night and even if you aint gay its worth a visit at only two pound a srink on certain nights you cant go wrong. allso hayleys bar which has a bad repritation but not from the owners now the people who tarnished the repritation weas the previous owners when it was blue bannana for a brief time and matts bar before that in which it was a dive but give it a go even just for one drink you got nothing to lose have fun!!!!!!!!!!!
  • Rain - at last, a club in Loughborough that isn't utterly shite.
  • discoteca beta that it was, bit cold in winter tho with windows open! pulse now know as wild is popular and used to be packed, so did busters and peggys, now known as vice and beauchief
  • Yep loughborough is a shit hole grow up there had a good night at pulse last night but u know what ive been places like birmingham for night life no probs but loughboroughs just full of f**king bad boy and girl wanabees f**king twats
  • NOPE! Not in Lufbra unless you want sick on ya shoes and ya bag nicked, The beauchief is alrite...I work there on saturday nights
  • echos sucks ass ! bouncers are feeble pathetic men and the talent are all students gross!! no high light s there but if u wanted fun i guess theres a f**king kebab van lol
  • Having read a plethora of varied reports – most branding Echos a hell-hole I felt compelled to write and put the record straight! Yes the floor is sticky – consider this a bonus as it prevents sliding-induced accidents when enjoying Baywatch or performing any slightly un-hinged dance routine. Yes, at times the music might go off course, but from midnight you can predict the tunes thus building a sense of great anticipation and excitement. The toilets are always blocked, it’s sometimes hard to get to the bar due to the ego-aura surrounding the rugby union crowd, it’s empty during the holidays… But the drinks are cheap, everyone's there for a laugh, no dancing style will ever be frowned upon. Like an aged aunt, you have to get involved to love it. You have to understand Echos. Fond memories burst out of the doors of the place – diss it at your peril!
  • 2005 Discoteca is the place to go, check out www.discotecauk.com for the latest info but lately DJs gracing the PURE FILTH nights have been, Danny Rampling, Jeremy Healy, MYNC Project, Graeme Park... the club is getting a refit shortly and caters for everone Young and Old. All the problems spots are the other end of town and scutters tend to head for Vice Versa (under age drinking and pub brawls essential) Pulse (would need no pulse to get me in this place)
  • Get yourself down Echos on a Saturday night. The resurrection of the old Poptastic night has been going down a storm with students and locals alike. Expect queues if you go down after 11 though. Tip - the echos dj's also dj in the phantom scream pub beforehand if you want passes...
  • As a 'young looking' 18 year old i would advise that u avoid 12 degrees (although it is pretty awesome) and bar euuropa. DONT FORGET-'YOUNG LOOKING' 18 YEAR OLDS KEEP THESE PLACES OPEN WHEN THE STUDENTS GO HOME
  • DOES ANY ONE REMEMBER ECHOS BAR...IF YOU DO YOU HAVNT BEEN!!!
  • Loughborough is the worst place i have ever been to, DO NOT GO OUT. The only place i would recommend is the union on a monday night - its called champagne and there are always more women than men there. legendary night.
  • Check out Loughborough Acoustic Club. They meet every thursday and have a mix of music in Open Mike form or Guest Nights. It's a chance to still get a beer inside you but in a laid back way!!! I know they have a website if you're interested www.LoughboroughAcoustic.org
  • pulse has *the* sticky floor, not nice. echos cheap drinks...cheap girls....expensive contraception. vice is ok providing it's not saturday night. except thursday night with the 'fresh faced' youth population of loughborough....
  • Theres a once a year punk festival in Loughborough called Beefest, theres always some decent bands playing there if your into Punk Rock.
  • if you like sticky floors, being ripped off, dense townies, drunken brawls, butt ugly women slags, arrogant thick people, illegal bouncers, cheesey crap music, low life scum, an abundance of 12 year olds, and venues that smell like a combination of piss and sick then Loughborough is for you
  • Vice on fridays, Echoes on saturdays and whatever you do stay AWAY from Pulse
  • Yikes nowhere decnt in Loughborough which is a shame as theres plenty of money to be made from student. If I win the lottery things may change...
  • We're a group of lads who visit loughie for 2 weeks every 2 weeks. we love the nights out. You rarely pay more than a quid a pint get wrecked for less than 20 quid everyones a winner. True there are a few inbreds lurking in the dark corners of the rooms but avoid these urine smelling nomads and your laughing. Our nights consist of mondays- unicorn, come and watch the old ledgend break dancing like a crazy mofo. Get kicked out around 11 and pop into vice-versa till you drop. By the way our man b@#$$y f*x is lookin for a bit of dj work if the right people are reading this! Thursday is our other regular night out. Get ruined in amber room, turbo shandies for less than 3 dollar. good night mate! The gallery puts up with us for an hour or so belting out some tunes on the kareoke then finish off in pulse or vice-versa which then is the most expensive part of the week. If you fancy joining us come along to one of the venues above and look for 10 rowdy good lookin men singin dancin and gambling(busted). See ya round!!!
  • i enjoy the company that appears in vicaversa it is a remarkably turned out place for loughborough. i met a lovely albanian fellow there and we conversed for simply hours about the lovely place that is albania. (i also met a right willy called graeme told you that he is a willy look how he spells his name) also met a simply lovely chappy called Pooter from nigeria. vice is wonderbar (see what i did there?!) if you want to meet people from all walks of life. come to vice ill see you there tally ho old fruit!
  • PULSE has improved! Yes really. The place has been redecorated (no more huge sperm on the walls!), the carpet is new, and the sound system has been repaired. Thursday night is RnB / garage in small room, 80s/ 90s large room. the oldies night DJ is VERY stroppy (talk to his mates who are much more friendly) but he throws the odd club or grunge classic in to catch out the unsuspecting. Feb 2005
  • Vice Versa commonly known as vice - Its lovely full of High School girls smoke and scary old guys. Nicest place in loughborough at the moment is Lloyds - The Amber Rooms (also one of the only place sin loughborough where you need to at least look 18)
  • pulse = puke hole echoes = student tottie discotecca = dansing till yer drop
  • pulse, echoes and discoteca are all shit, unless u want some fat slags trying get off with u, then u might like it.
  • discoteca loughborough is a wicked night club, plenty of house music and top dj's. Stay away from cheesy night clubs such as pulse and echoes they are really shite.MBC , THE RUSHES, LOUGHBOROUGH, EVERY FRIDAY NIGHT, DJ STEVE G, 8PM TIL 1PM TOP HOUSE TUNES, FREE ENTRY, LOADS OF DRINKS OFFERS.
  • The nicest club in Loughborough is definitely Vice-Versa. Its very tastefully turned out and they've sacked the DJ who used to get pissed and play hard house all night then pass out. AVOID Discoteca aka 'Tekka' at all costs. Its FULL of scallies and its not a nice place to be in. Equally as dodgy is Pulse. STICKY STICKY floor and the only club i've ever been in which is CARPETED! The music is crap and full of old old men!
  • There is a under 16 or 18's club called magic. Never been but my friends have, they say it's safe and fun.
  • Whoever said vice versa was Cheap do not believe them, Yeah its pretty good in there but £3 Quid a pint, and two pound summat for sambuca your having a giraffe, I cant be bothered with the clubs anymore, just go out to pub, and make sure youve got a couple of crates of lager back home then have a party, but if i had to reccomend a club its probably pulse, Always Full But not to full, I mean echoes goes from one extreme to the other on a friday Noone is there on a saturday you cant move, and discoteca, man i used to go there when i was 15, for the quid tequila slammers, got accused of drug dealing once when all i was doing was trying to buy drugs HOWS THAT DEALING, that got me banned for a couple of months
  • All clubs are crap in loughborough!!!
  • Jesus, the clubs in Loughborough are shite. I know nightclubs in general are pretty poor, but Loughborough has some of the finest examples of crap clubs. If you value your life, avoid Loughborough at night - there's more stabbings in this town than in downtown New York.
  • my god where do i start? echos is an over priced dive only popular with people so far up there own arse its unbeleivable. the place plays noise not even recognizable as music (unless sweet child of mine comes on). pulse is a good laugh as it doesnt take itself as seriously as echos. you might find this hard to beleive but echos claims to be a nightclub!!!!!!!!!! pulse smells of sick but thats a bonus as it disguises your own BO!! the union is full of rich boy students who get pissed on 2 'nasties' and find being sick a form of entertainment. if you like queing and standing next to blokes who think the world owes them a favour then lboro is for you.
  • I'm writting in response to the post where someone mentioned that all the people in discotea loughborough are under the age of 18 Well....... your actually wrong. on Fridays now Discoteca holds KAHUA which is one of the best house nights in Loughborough, There are DJ's such as Nick Correlli from The MYNC project, Strakes from passion, and in the coming weeks the homegrown boys from Manchester will be there keeping it loud. Alot of people attend this night and they are all over the age of 21. Once a month there is also a night called Pure Filth which has recently been graced with the appearance of Farley Jack Master Funk. The tunes were Jackin and the club was to full capacity. Visit www.kahua.co.uk
  • Fuck you all discoteca is the place to be on a saturday night, its a great atmophere and you know every one up there, it is not full of underage drinkers and the music is grrreaaat, baricuda bar is another great pub because of the music and the people around you, its also a good place to be on a thursday night when it is only a pound a pint.
  • pulse is SHIT. so is teca da whatton shed is the best
  • Timmo in Teca. Dirt.
  • for a small town it really ain't that bad.... honest! Simply follow this basic guide: Mondays at Echos. Tuesdays at ViceVersa. Wednesday either Echos, or Hey Ewe at the union, Thursday... dodgy, but if you must go out, brave Pulse. Fridays aren't complete without a trip to FND at the uni... Saturdays are townie days - play spot-the-chavva or just stay in! Sundays... pound a pint at the Phantom til midnight... sorted. Tip: the Griffin has pub2club discount cards at weekends for Echos... go late for cheap entry and minimum queuing!
  • The Union is the only place in town worth going, although that's rapidly going downhill as they let anyone in these days...
  • baracuda
  • Echo's white room on a saturday night is chilling! it kills pulse or vice, the uk garage and rnb is sick! head to techa after echo's white room about 2ish til 5!
  • i'm afraid to say but echoes and the union
  • no clubs in loughborough are worht it, Pulse has a sticky floor, my mate trod in glass there cos her shoe had stuck to the ground! try Vice Versa for a smoother drink and a nice dance
  • vice versa
  • Freedom every Thursday at the EHB - Free Entry featuring Loughborough's Premier DJ - 'Smelly Ash'
  • Well L'boro has no good clubs! Bars would be Barracuda and maybe Vice Versa. Head 2 Leicester or Notts 4 good clubs
  • vica versa is bad good tunes cheap drinks and a freindly up 4it environment, 4get discotecha the spice girls went out a long time ago!!!
  • The Famed Discoteca, Sadly Ive been Banned, I think they got fed up of having to carry me out all the time after i had a shitload of £1 Shots of tequila
  • pulse-smells of cheesy feet echos-smells of vomit both play cheesy crap
  • Pulse, Discoteca, X Treme - h8 clubbin myself
  • The clubs in this towm are crap full of underaged drinkers - its sooo obvious and crap music. Best to go to the pubs like Llodys, unicorn and Gallery they all have a good atomosphere and music you and your mates can have a good boogie to.
  • best places now are orange tree, vice versa, baracuda bar and moon and bell. Sadly the only good place to dance is thurs at pulse - if you're into 60's/70's
  • Vice Versa is absoulutly gorgeous!!!!!! and definatly the BEST place in Loughborough!! and only £2 entry! discoteca is just full of 15yr olds from the high school, grammer school and convent and a few others!! and the other clubs arent up to much either! go to Vice Versa!!
  • It used to be next door to the Curzon!!!!!!!!!!! Cant remember the managers name who made our life hell (or so we thought!!!!!! how innocent!!!!!!) but he did pass away at an early age
  • This Summer (2001) XS has had a refit and is now being called Echoes once again!!! Apparently most of the money spent on doing the club up has gone on the loos! Crystals is the place to be though on a Tuesday nite, and Vice Versa is good too, straying away from cheesy music which seems to infiltrate all of the bars and (3) clubs Lufbra hosts!!!
  • Pulse is crap and it smells funny. Rather like the caretakers cupboard at schools.
  • Pulse, well there will always be a fight that you can spectate, or go and harrass a barman called Martin. that's always fun! Club XS has cheap drinks on a saturday nights, and poles so u can poledance, and toilets with no doors. there is no need to have privacy from your friends let alone the rest of lufbra apparently.
  • pulse. Does under 18 nights too for teenybopping townies.
  • CLUB XS IS ONE OF THE BEST CLUBS IN LOUGHBOROUGH NOW. IT MAY NOT HAVE IMPROVED AS SUCH. BUT LETS FACE IT PULSE IS A SHIT HOLE NOW DAYS. YOU STICK TO THE FLOOR AND IT STINKS TO HIGH HEVEN IN THE CLUB AND THE TOILETS. AND AS FOR DISCOTECA I HAVE ONLY EVER BEEN THERE ONCE AND I WALKED IN SEEN HOW CRAP IT WAS AND WALKED STRAIGHT OUT.
  • Pulse Nitghtclub in Loughborough is wicked (don't care what anyone says, you've gotta have a bit of tackiness sometime!) and even better if you are an underage clubber, cos they let most people in, especially girls in very low cut tops- flirt with the bouncer and your in. DOn't forget to check out the interior, most people don't realise this but the walls in Pulse are adorned with giant blue sperm. I've had some wicked nights in Pulse....
  • Pulse nite club, with its spunky walls! YOU GOTTA LOVE IT !
  • pub - Beauchief Hotel (formerly Peggy's Bar) - loadsa local bands playing
  • The Pulse is shite awful and a spawning ground for amoebas in stilletoes! The staff are ignorant and look like they'd club you if you met them down a dark alley! Steer well clear....V/Verca is a reburbished Busters, the clientele are as tacky as ever
  • Diabolical! Never ever, ever, ever go to Pulse.
  • Pulse is in loughborough next to argos on the main street i love it i go every week, in the big room the music is shite seventees and eightees music which is allright for a wile but it soon pisses you off but the small room is banging hard house and trance played on friday and saturday nights. it does have more of a yunger crowd than most of the clubs in loughborough except(clubxs) which a youth club would be better named. i hate it in clubxs the music is shite and the clientel is much to be desired. Discotecca is quite good the music can get a little crap but its fun and the beers cheap. Iv'e only been in vice versa once it's over 21 but the club it's self is clean and cool the music is good and it's always full of the opposite sex.
  • Pulse, well what can i say, it's ok, in moderation.... All the little kiddies go to the one near the halifax...
  • Pulse, everybodies nightmare. Unless youre balding in cowboy boots and Adam Sielbles dad; A.K.A Mr. Wonderful. Plays cheesy chart crap in one room, and cheesy chart dance crap in the other. Go if you want to get bottled, pelted down the stairs by the illeagal bouncers and pursued by girls in sovereign rings and white peddle pushers wanting to know why you were "looking at her boyfriend". Dont even bother with the truth, "Because he's dancing like an ape on speed" cause it will only result in her immitation gold jewellry leaving a nasty gold stain on your gob. Club XS, the old echoes. Always empty, but for the token few that do turn up, its cheap you can wear your trainers and hoods without any hassle. we even got past without paying pretty easily, but dont everybody do it. thats our trick. Barely any white peddle pushers. More students than Shelthorpe chippy workers. Reflected occasionally in the music. But dont break dance, the bouncers dont like it, however comedy you manage to make it. Discotecca, wouldnt with yours. Except on the occasional studenty type night, but even still you get all the stereotyped student anthems. Leave it out Damon Albarn. Just for one week. Recognised DJ's? If thats referring to local dropouts; Ashley Turner, fat, freckly, ex performing arts student=loud and annoying, V'S Dj Scrawney on the decks, an ex school heart throb turned cradle snatcher. Possibly got off with the majority of the 12 year old girls who fancied him at Harry Carlton. If you miss their stint at 'tecca' then you might possibly be able to catch them handing out their own flyers beforehand. showbiz.
  • AVOID LOUGHBOROUGH LIKE THE PLAGUE IF YOU WANT TO GO OUT AND HAVE A GOOD TIME AFTER 11PM. I just moved down to bournemouth to goto uni, comparing bournemouth and in particular, Slinky (Slinky just rox man, i spent 2 weeks in to have 1 good night there ffs) is like comparing a sunday dinner to the contents of a babys nappy! the Zone, which no longer runs since mr walsh and mr schofield (hello donna chaz)decided to turn it into a posh place for over 20's. or basically theyre saying no under 18's. either way we all get in, whether thats because the guys on the door know us as one of my best mates gfs dads is mr schofield or whether we actually ARE over 18 and still stupid enough to go out. Go nottingham, i went there for my 18th and spent £100, twas fantastic, although ive promised myself im going to check out Slinky @ Industria on the friday before xmas.
  • "No true Lufbronian [sic] would have a bad word to say about (krystals) pulse!" What the fuck is that all about???? Despite the fact I'm only guessing that I qualify as a 'Lufbronian' (whatever that is), I have to take issue with this point. Pulse always has been, and ever shall be, a complete and utter shit-hole.
  • No true Lufbronian would have a bad word to say about (krystals) pulse! Ive had some great nights there! though the bouncers can get ruff if they spot you in the wrong loos!!! be warned! Pulse rocks man!
  • Pulse, Loughborough's answer to the Ministry Of Sound is a saddly pathetic little place with a remarkably varied age group among it's clientelle. Music is on the Stilton side of cheesey and the DJ's could be charitably described as ropey. If you want to spend a mint and wake up the next morning wishing that you'd stayed at home listening to Grandma talking about the war, don't miss out on pulse, the premier nitespot in town.
  • The Zone has really banging music these days (but it's joined to Busters with the Maestro of Cheese himself DJing every night - where did they find that guy?) If you like hard house/trance, the Zone is cool.
  • The club.....(which was by all accounts shite) has now been replaced by Discotecca- which although it has the crappiest name by far is by far the best club in Luffbra. it has the nicest interior, and ought to be given a chance- at the moment it is populated by a large group of remarkably young 18 year olds and the odd student with taste- give the place a chance- it beats pulse hands down.
  • Echos is now "Club XS" (same shit, diffrent name) Fri/Sats have legal drinkers who could be mistaken for 16 year olds. Anything at the Union is shit, with Rugger me Bugger me boys.
  • Club XS (formerly Echo's). Just like when they changed 'Marathon' bars into 'Snickers' bars, the differences between old and new are miniscule.
  • Shock horror! Echo's has been bought by XS Leisure, and the Snooker bit is being turned into an American Pool Hall. What will happen to the club?
  • Echo's, on Monday nights, just to see if Jim manages to stay awake in the DJ box all night.
  • Busters has a dance room called The Zone and the girls in there are alot cheaper than your average prostitute.
  • The three clubs in town are; Echoes, moshy punk night on mondays, student night wednesdays, friday and saturday are townie nights. Capacity around 500. The Club, Monday hosts an R&B and Hip Hop night, tuesday is a cheap drink night, Friday night the club hosts some well known DJs. Capacity around 250. Pulse, Tuesday is student night, Thursday is student/seventies night, friday and saturday are townie nights. Capacity around 700. It only costs £8 to get a taxi to the Emporium in Coalville where top night Passion is held every saturday, best DJs in the area and guaranteed a good night.
  • A top place to go is the PULSE. They have just had a half million pound re-fit and its ace. Allthough the music will deften you for the following day. Entrace is cheaper b4 11.
  • 'The Club' is a new club in town - it used to be called TJs. Don't take any drugs in or you will take a beating.
  • NOT MUCH THEY'RE ALL A BIT CRAP. VENTURE INTO NOTTINGHAM AND LEICSTER. THERE MUCH BETTER.
  • Labour Club (free live bands every Saturday)
  • The Pulse, in town. It's shite though, with a very young crowd.
Pulse and if you like youngsters go to Echos which is shite.
What used to be 'Krystals' (above Barnados and Argos...ha, ha, ha) is now called 'Pulse' - more of the same I should think.
The Pulse is the best of the three nightclubs in Loughborough, and can get quite busy at weekends and on student night. However, there are still far more blokes around than girls, regardless of age.
  • There are no clubs of note in the town unless you count Echo's, whose one claim to fame is that Bianca from Eastenders once threw up in the ladies.
I am one of the Doormen at Echo's, as well as a Uni Student, and we have had more celebrities down there than Patsy Palmer and the subsequent river of vomit!! We have had Vicky from Coronation Street twice, Melanie Williams ( c/o Pure Filth 1995. ) Mel B. and Nigel Benn ( at a do c/o Loughborough Uni. ) We also have famous top talented DJ's on a monthly basis at 7th.Heaven, such as Seb Fontaine, Chris & James + the Mixmag tour, John Digweed and Daniele Davoli. Numerous extras also participate on 7th. Heaven nights as well, adding to the atmosphere.

  • The shed in leicester
  • The Hanger - EHB
  • The Three Nuns apparently, Notts is good w/ Ice Arena, Rock City (OKish) and the awesome Junktion 7
  • As far as i remember the Newshouse does a fairly chilled live night in a sunday night, with plenty of covers (indie, bit of 60's etc) and the atmos is pretty good
  • Town Hall and the uni - not great choice really
  • ***The three nuns is one that sticks in my mine. It pretty small but very personal. Ive seen some great acts in there. Outside is always alot of fun (it might not be the place jsut the memories!! :P) But i do recomand to see and band there.
  • Try the Orange Tree (Sunday nights) or the 3 Nuns on Churchgate on Saturday night. Orange Tree does get really packed with students though but thankfully it's not too bad on a Sunday.
  • Every where in the Uni! Suicide tower as we knew it had bands and gigs pouring from every oriface and of course all the up and coming stars started in the uni! paul young (not a personal favourite) john lydon with PIL - a definate for my youthhood...................
  • the labour club, but someone shut it down. the town hall, for the trendy oldies or the union
  • There are times when the University has classical concerts. Usually by the East Midlands Orchestra. One hopes for more!
  • Students Union
  • The Orange Tree is the place to be on a sunny Sunday afternoon, haver good bands and potent cocktails (depending on who serves you)
  • Best Venue around is Rock City in nearby Nottingham. Not stricly Loughborough but you can get the number 1 bus to it from there. Does that count?
  • The Griffin has sadly (?) decided to knock live music on the head. Fortunately, it is being replaced by a live DJ, the legendary Jim Shady (real name: Jim Hartley) once of Echo's fame.
  • Anywhere where you have a radio 107 Oak FM
  • The Griffin!!! Although after the appearance of the diabolical Red House (fuck me, were THEY bad!), we can only hope that the pub will have its' entertainment licence revoked.
  • Student Union - not!!! When will some decent bands be booked for Thursday nights? Failing that, some bands that we have heard of! When I were a lad, it were all Ocean Colour Scene and pre-fame Radiohead round here. Even the Neds played a couple of times. Now, it's all gone to pot.
  • Uni Union on thursday night
  • The Three Nuns on Churchgate have live bands every Tuesday & Saturday nights, and Jazz bands play the first Wednesday of every month.
  • Swan In The Rushes - Cracking bues and quite often a lock in to boot. Beware - Tim from JUST MUSIC drinks in here, with his mate Chris and his brother Chris (bit of a pattern devloping Timmy boy??....... The Packhorse - bottom of South Street - good for folk
  • Like Jazz? Try The Priory, top of Nanpanton Road, on Saturdays.
  • Leicester and Nottingham.

Cinemas

  • Flix! A student run Cinema located on campus which is much cleaner than the Curzon by the sounds of it!
  • Although the Curzon is quaint ,film selection is poor, I would rather go to Derby Showcase.
  • cheap and chearfull
  • The Curzon....mmmm not really a cinema with a 32 inch screen!
  • I love the Curzon! This decaying ceramic tile-clad Art Deco picture palace smack in the middle of town was last refitted in about 1963 and is all the more atmospheric for it. The best place I've ever been to watch scary films - it has the atmosphere of a haunted house anyway. I moved to Leeds a few years ago and we only have big shiny multiplexes surrounded by parking deserts here, but the old Curzon will always have a place in my heart. One day soon I guess they will probably flatten it and turn it into a wine bar or summat, but all it really needs is a lick of paint... just appreciate it for what it is!
  • yeah its old but it has a screen n a comfy back row
  • haha. u gotta love the curzon. it doesnt matter that it smells is never cleaned and is the size of a pea...its got something about it. no point travelling 2 leicester...experience the charm of the curzon. even if it's only sittin on the steps getting abuse hurled at u from the local...'people',
  • Curzon, simply.
  • Curzon = definition of shit hole
  • Curzon, bit small but v good
  • Freemans Common has a cinema worth travelling to. Loughboroughs cinema smells of mice and has ads about PUTTS which I've seen ever since I can remember. Not recommended
  • only the curzon which is a perfectly adequate cinema for those unfortunate enough to go there. i like to attend film premiere in leicester square in london.
  • Horrible cinema. Its old and still has an intermission in the middle of long films.
  • curzon..not bad...
  • Curzon cinema is a joke. Every year they tell us they're re- doing it to justify the price rises and every year we return to the same smelly flea-pit. The seats are so uncomfortable, it smells and you leave with a dead leg and 190 flea bites per square inch of flesh. Go to Leicester!
  • In Loughborough it is cheaper to go to the cinema but it is quite small.
  • Odeon smelly and shite
  • curzon, in town centre
  • Curzon - it's been there since the stone age, seats are really uncomfortable and some of the screens are rubbish - but it's still great!
  • The Curzon - the original and best.
  • the curzon is amazing. its the only cinema in the counrty without surround sound. the heater at the front make so much noise you need subtitles and your lucky if 3 people ar eint he cinema with you
  • no good cinemas in lufra and avoid the one they have like the plague
  • the curzon sucks its probly the crapest cinema in the world.
  • saturday afternoon on the pull at the curzon (did they actually show any films cause i never bloody watched any) U GIRLS NO WHO U R
  • curzon FINDING NIMOOOO... LOOOOOSSEEEERRR (lol marc)
  • Hot staff!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! go just to get a look at the beautiful girls!!!!!!!!
  • the girl in there was in the Busted Video
  • loughborough curzon is a kool cinema, its not a big and flashy one thats why its so good, you cna feel dead comfy there too
  • the only cinema is the Curzon. Its erm an experience, but only worth going if screaming kids, screaming teenagers, no leg room, no decent films and undescribably sticky floors are your thing.
  • Dont dream of goin in the Curzon (it always was, always will b a grotty smelly dump)
  • The Classic in Baxter Street. Sadly, for the last 25 years it's been a bingo hall. But those of us who remember Saturday Morning Cinema in the early '70s will remember the glorious foyer with grand staircase and huge windows. Then marvel at the enormous auditorium with balcony. If the bingo ever closes down and someone has a pot of cash let me know.
  • Students can enjoy Flix, Loughborough's Student Cinema based in Loughborough Students Union with one of the largest screens in the East Midlands. Showings are each Sunday at 5.30 and 8.30 for recent blockbusters, with great value pricing of £1 members (membership £5 for the year) £2 Non-members. Visit www.flix.org.uk for more information.
  • curzon-boiling hot,the least comfortable film u'll see
  • Well from the look of it most don't like Curzon. I think it's great though. It's cheap, it's convienent - i mean it hasn't got comfy chairs and great air conditioning - but i wouldn't avoid going there!! btw cinema 6 is like having a massive screenin yor living room!! its tiny!!
  • ***question was-Would you travel miles to see a film there? -- Or would you travel miles to see the same one somewhere better? and it would definalty have to be travel somewhere eles. I suppose its all right if its not a bog film but u need to travle if its a big box office hit the cinemas are about as big as my tv and the sound is my cd player on volume 11. and it cost so much..it also smells
  • The Curzon, A butiful art deco cinema, Straight lines peircing the sky, magestic. Well that was last year now its been bought by Klash, a business mogal, owns most of market street, hes ok but his Idea of renivation involved getting rid of the famous Stage Icons, (a giant beast from Beauty and The Beast) cladding the interia in cheep chipboad(or mdf) and painting it white. Small smelly and cramped, prices now match warner brothers.
  • Loughborough cinema is shit and expensive its 4.50 and the sreening shite and the seats are expenisive food so your better off travelling to notts
  • leave poor curzon alone if u don't like it bugger of and go somewhere else.it does cheap days on mon and thurs.
  • The Curzon -good sound (actually seems to make use of surround sound speakers, unlike some multiplexes I know!), nice building. Bit pricey, but it's not bad.
  • The curzon is much better than those huge big sniny multi screen places, definatley worth a visit. Oh and a tip,if you're in screen 1 leave through the left hand front exit and your right by the phantom pub!! v.handy
  • the curzon
  • The Curzon cinema has just been taken over and the people of Lboro are promised an new state of art cinema. About time too, the Curzon is an old fashioned flea pit and ought to been modernised years ago. Very cold in the winter too!
  • The cinema in this town is the dumps. Don't go there.... ever. go to the Showcase in Notts.
  • curzon cinema is a shit hole, but it shows films, sells chocloate and is incrediably cheep! so it cant be that bad.!
  • 1 cinema, no quasar, no bowling, need i say more about the intrests of lufbra?
  • The cinema in Loughborough is ok, however the staff who seem to permanently be having their time of the month are slightly off putting, making it some what nicer to travel the short distance to Leicester, Derby Nottingham etc.
  • Curzon. Shite, expnsive food & small screens.
  • has to be curzon, doesn't it? There isn't another one
  • SHITE!!!!
  • it just gets worse the cinema isn't really that big if you want to go to a good cinema then i suggest you got to somewhere like the meridian in leicester.
  • Curzon! It does show up to date films. It need a face lift and was supposed to have one. It doesn't belong the large Groups. I go there sometimes.
  • Curzon - Market Place, cheap tickets for all shows on Mon & thursday evenings (get in for the price of a kid)
  • The Curzon is a flea pit but its cheap and has some hilarious local advertising- namely Putts and the Koh-i-Noor
  • Cinema, curzon? You must be joking... try the odeon in leicester...
  • Best off going to Leicester or Nottingham.
  • If you fancy watching a film in surroundings that smell like stale pants worn for three weeks after a good drinking binge then pop over to the Curzon. Although the pants do seem tempting on a Monday and Thursday nights when its student cheap night. Take a packet of Galaxy Minstrels. At the right angle they can really come keen when pelted with full swing. Perfect for those who have fallen into the seat behind you after first falling out of Matt's Bar.
  • Curzon - this is a local cinema... we don't want strangers here. Seriously, it isn't great, but it's local and the prices are good (particulary Monday and Thursday).
  • Loughborough's cinema is the curzon, the screens have only just become colour and the sounds OK untill the old man can't wind his gramaphone anymore. Avoid like the plague. Also renowned for the vileness of its staff.
  • The one and only Curzon - 1950's decor, 1980's films. Go to Fosse park in Leicester.
  • There is apparently going to be a whole new complex built including a cinema, pubs, etc, on the site of the school on Shakespeare Street, behind the new Australian bar.
  • The Curzon, a 1930s-type movie theatre which has been turnrd into a multiplex(badly.)Some seats face the wall at 45 degrees and surround sound, let alone THX, is yet to arrive. Generally decent films though
  • I'm biased in favour of the Curzon, although I admit I did go to Warner Brothers to see The Phantom Menace. There's nowt wrong with the Curzon, despite it's dirty, smelly interior. Anyway, it's all being done up and turned into a multiplex thingy, with a bar, and a restaurant, and God knows what else.
  • Curzon is quite large and reasonably priced. No student discount though.
  • Ugh the only cinema in Loughborough is the Curzon cinema near Mc Donalds but it's CRAP.
  • Curzon cinema. Pricey but will do for taking your missus to
  • The cinema in Loughborough (The Curzon), appears to be run by a close relative of Mary Whitehouse. Whoever the arrogant shit for brains is, whenever a slightly risque film is released (recent examples being Crash & Lolita), he bans them with no consultation. He really is a pious bastard who should in no way be allowed the responsibility of running a public entertainment facility. I CALL FOR A BOYCOTT UNTIL he changes his 1830's views. Knob.

What is Knowhere?

The Knowhere Guide started out as a list of places to skateboard in the UK. It is a compilation of (unedited) information and views supplied by users like yourself. It is not a conventional tourist guide!

In most cases, the information in each section has been submitted by more than one contributor (the credits at the bottom of the page list some, but not all, of the contributors) and some of it dates back to the 1970s.

We make no claims as to the accuracy of the information in the Guide - our only purpose is to provide a forum for users to share their knowledge and opinions. So please keep a large bag of salt handy and be prepared to read between the lines!

If you disagree with a comment, or information is out of date, please submit an update! The contributors come from all walks of life, and their opinions are bound to be subjective, so if your view isn't represented, please speak up and contribute to the balance of the Guide. See below in the 'Have Your Say' section for how to add your voice.

If we have helped you out or made you laugh you can buy us a pint.

Have Your Say...

The Knowhere Guide depends entirely on real users for information. Please feel free to join in.

You can tell us more about Loughborough. This is also the method to use if you want to correct some of the information already here. (But please remember you're not mailing the person who actually wrote whatever-it-is.)

You can use the add an event form to tell us about events happening in Loughborough.

Or, if you'd just like to leave a message for other users of this site, take a look at The Knowhere Board (handy if you're just trying to get in touch with someone).
