• Don't know which category I should put this piece of information is, so I think I will enter it here. Walked past Baxter Gate, Loughborough a few days ago, and to my delight I found a newly open "oriental food shop" selling oriental food and cooking ingredients. My friends and I think it's a great little shop selling interesting stuff, from now on we don't have to travel all the way to Leicester/Nottingham to get what we want. Thought I share this info with all oriental food lovers outthere. Thanks.

• Loughborough is apprently world-renowned in ringing circles for the casting and manufacture of Church bells. Taylor's bell foundry is based in the town and has been making bells of all shapes and sizes for hundreds of years. It's now one of only two such places in the entire country. You can visit too and watch the bells being made. Interesting stuff if you're a bit of a campanologist.
• Loughborough needs a serious makeover, we're losing serios money to nearby Nottingham and Leicester because of a lack of appealing nightlife for students and young people. Someone do something!

• Some good local Radio Stations to listen to are Campus Fm for students. They have a good varity. Their most popular show i think is the "alternitive alternitive show". Oak fm is good as well.

• My advice to anyone thinking of visiting Loughborough is DONT. Its not a nice place!!! Oh and going into Shelthorpe means taking your life into your own hands. You have been warned!!!

• Burliegh Community College sucks hairy ass.It is completely gay and full of little dickheads who think they are cool,but in fact are wankers.The best place to go 4 a fag iz the benches by the tennis courts or behind the kitchens.The worst place to chill is by the pond as all the geeks go there.The principal is a faget ginger bumboy,and Frankie No-neck is a twat,sum1 please shoot him asap.
• LHS is nice
• to have a good time in loughborough, you have to get absolutely rip roaringly drunk, treading the fine line between conscience, being sick, and incoherent to members of the opposite sex, and becoming incredibly bored at the dire music and lack of money to spend on drinks. If you can hit that line (and lets face it its not easy) then you can have an ok time in Loughborough. Plus it helps to have people around you who feel the same way and are at the same level.

• Loughborough High school girls are not easy and they are capable of finding their own boyfriends. Everbody looks down on them but they are just the same as anyone. Grow up. I went to LHS and I'm not easy so whover said that should get thei facys straight!
• Burleigh College- load of shit teachers but a few good ones. Shit ones include...Mrs. Hyman-Hell bent on keeping you in after the bell...learn french or die! She has a really greasy face and she looks like a rat-she's pregnant at the moment but not married so we can oficially call it a bastard! mr Todd- he has a massive forehead- "the alien forehead", he cant control a class at all! Mrs smith- "oh-no" if you've ever had her you'll know what i mean.
• The Loughborough Echo is a winsome weekly publication, whose morality is firmly rooted in smalltown nineteen fifties suburbia. Fortunately, light relief is found on the Letters page, where missives from popular local clergyman Reverend Leslie Robinson attacking gays/straights/blacks/whites/single mothers/the working class/young people never fail to reach new levels of blinkered, reactionary Thatcherite prejudice. Also of note are: Shepshed Scene (like we care!); Echo Newshounds (for the kids); Leisure (at the Curzon this week..., local blues band at pub); and the Weekly Crime Count (going up and up every issue). Only 35p from your local GT News.
• ok. I thought your web page was fairly good but i just wanted to tall you that I'm hoping to come to Loughborough University in september, i'm a girl and i'm not fat or ugly! Anyway you boys may hate the fact that theres not many lasses but thats one of the main reasons I chose the place! • THE TOWN WITH THE DAFTEST STATUES CATEGORY. THE INFAMOUSE SOCK MAN STATUE. SUPPOSED TO REPRESENT THE TOWNS PAST?THE FLEEING ANOREXITS WITH THE RUNS OUTSIDE THE UNIVERSITY GATES.
• Everything you sad about the teenie boppers is true, and the purple trackies are just gorgeous: every Lough resident knows when to cross the street!
• If you are a straight male and are considering coming to Loughborough University, my advice is DON'T!!!! The ratio of male to female is more than 3 to 1, and most of the girls that are here are either fat, ugly or both!! I suggest you go to Nottingham University, which is nearby and has a completely opposite ratio, ie lots of attractive girls!!!
• Loughborough should see the opening of its first Cyber Caf in summer 96. Decent food will be served and an alcohol license is in the pipeline. Internet access will be via ISDN provided by a new local provider. • Actually the best school is Loughborough High. There you will discover lots of sex-starved girls who are not able to get satisfaction from the Grammar School boys. You'll find they hang out in the Three Nuns.

• The toilets by the roundabout where Forest Road meets Epinal Way is a much more likely venue, or the ones in Queen's Park, especially just after Rickencampers (one-night a week (Tuesday) gay venue at Rickenbackers bar) has closed.
• Any self-respecting fag wouldn't be seen dead at the FND (Friday night at the Union) unless they were being ironic, or wanted to have a laugh at the strayt boyz' bad hair, bad clothes and bad dancing.

  1. Best place for gay sex is the Loughborough students Union, on a Friday night especially. They're all after a nice bit of batty, the toilets are comfortable, and they sell gay safe condoms. Best girl in the university is Kat Myers, she is a well good babe. Everyone should vote for her to be Union Vice President. She is from Blackpool. Not much drugs in Loughborough, not on the university campus. Best pub IS the Blacksmiths Arms, sells Charles Wells Bombadier.
  2. Best: University is great. Good campus university all-round. Worst: University hall food!
  3. Without a doubt, the best thing about Loughborough is the Student Rag. In 1994 we raised £204,871.88, an English record. We're great and sexy so put us in.
  4. Best? Subculture indie/alternative music society at the Union - the only place where you can bet on the people not being greasy engineers, jocks or rugby lads, or fans of the Cranberries.
  5. Best is Burleigh School. Worst is Stonebow school.
