Record Shops
go to leeds or lincoln for vinyl grimsby shops just dont cater at all!!!!period
ethix
Virgina and hmv have a nice collection of different types of music. Again probly best to go to hull or lincoln, more shops... Segals records in hull is a goodun.
htfr
boot sales!!
There used to be a shop called Sub-Level - run by trevor Horsewood for a while. That was really the only place to listen to fresh tunes in the late 80s/1990 - when the music really was banging. Come back Sub-Level, come back the DJs of the town (where are they all now, eh?), come back the Beach Parties (if you were there, you know what I'm saying), come back the heady days of all white clothes, De La hairdo's and Body Shop Dewberry scented humans!!! I loved it. God, what went wrong in the world?
Virgin its kinda the only place isnt it!
HMV of course... virgin is over priced and the staff are a bit dim
Woolworths is the biggest store in town. How grim is that? It isn't even a particularly large example of the famous red signed pick and mix haven.
HMV or Virgin Megastore in Freshney Place (Grimsby)
The one in the mill accross from freshney place rocks, and the dude there rocks.
Freshney Place now has an HMV, which sells music etc, at a hella lower price than Virgin and has a wider selection!
Top town
HMV, Virgin
THE HUUUUUGE HMV!! Freshney place! That store rocks! It's taken over from Virgin and it has soooo much choice!

Do we actually have any record shops in Cleethorpes?! The best one I know around here is Andy's Records, cos they can get you anything. If they don't have it, they'll order it for you.
virgin,andys records.
Nervous Records along from the end of Freeman Street, the best in alternative and indie in this hole world.
asda, virgin records.
Choices videos on grimsby road are good on the playstation games and it you want a fireplace try FIRELIVE!!
Not really any specialist shops, or at least any that could be labelled decent!
I am a VIRGIN shopper myself. Tesco is quite good value for albums.
We have none Grimsby can supply these we have to put up with the Yorkies so they can make the shops
Is this town alone in offering no record shops whatsoever except Woolworths?
Offshore, Bjork, Every things a pound, Help the aged

If Randy Todger is back on in Cleethropes, where is AL FRESCO - he was the best thing about Disco Inferno, I got a t shirt off AL...bring the man back!
At last a gay venue in grimsby, not far from cleethorpes i believe. lol. have just returned back to the area for a fews day after leaving several years ago to persue work interest, and my god grimsbys finally got a gay venue. La Rue's in Cleethorpes road. Had a great night out there over the weekend, and full marks to all the staff for making it such a great venue. Its about time this area accepted there are many great forms of life and there is a gay community here. We are nice people and shouldn't be cast a side, we don't hurt people, but want to just go out and have fun, like everybody else, so go the great gay community of east lincolnshire, explode out of the closet and show what a great place this is. Give La Rue's your support. They made the move so get down there and support them, I did. Good luck to the team there.
lol whos mackie? pier has had its day in fact i find most cleethorpes venues dull and boaring same old same old "CHEESE" take my advice visit gatecrasher clee and grimsby just aint all that as for making musical history i dont know but cleethorpes does have a rather big northern soul following.
loads of rubbish about macky he prob killed every venue he eva played in!!!its a good job the pier got rid!!! he tried to blow the sound system up when he got sacked how pro is that if ya ask me that sorta thing is unpro!! pier is far betta now the legend that is dave beeson is spinning the tunes!!
Legendary disco dj's RICHARD ITCHIN and RANDY TODGER who used to pack to the rafters pier 39 on wednesday nights are coming back to cleethorpes after 6 years.DISCO INFERNO will not be coming back to pier 39. A new venue for the most popular night in the history of cleethorpes may appear at BATON ROUGE. So search the attic and find those hot pants and get ready to boogie.
Gullys in Grimsby is the best club to go to. I have been all over the place, and have been to some of the 'best clubs' in Europe, but Gullys remains my fave. Its decor is horrible, they seem to play the same music in the same order and those stairs have, on many occasions been the last i have ever climbed. The young ones are still ill managing their angst, lined with kohl, and there are some bad movers and groovers. Every time i go i laugh out load, dance still i look like ive been caught by a big dirty north sea wave, i love it.
Remember Customs all nighters, Flam, Willy's, Nils, Nick Campbell, Sheffield, CJ's, Kool Kats, Beech parties, Trax records, Jackin House, Nu-groove records, yellow kelly's, california sunrises, sublevel, transmat, detroit, larry heard, Ron Hardy, DJ Pierre, lighthouse parties
well... gotta say after all the years ive known mackie, never seen him spoon feed people music.. plays what he feels right at the time maybe, and loves music but wouldnt say himself.. Deanno...
Somebody loves themselfs!!! innit i fink baton and pier are cool but i wouldnt say any cleethorpes venue was down to any one person and definately not the music they play you say all this as if you spoon feed the people of cleethorpes your music nah mate dream on your just part of the grind not the solution.
just a foot note about pier d.j, this guy has spent the lasttwenty years playing up and down the country ,trawling record shops , geting on mailing lists keeping cleethorpes as up front as possible , do some research people .Meggies was makin musical history long before most of us were a twinkle in our dads nads , and thanks to the likes of baker , the tompson brothers, marlklew , flyn and kirton and all the other dedicated vynil junkies who have devoted their time and effort to keeping the cleethorpes torch burning, and this definately inludes mackie and more nortern soul d.js than i have space to list!so think on . when your kids are out there doin the meggies thing in twenty years time , be thankful to these people and the ones who followed in their footsteps with the same tenacity to create the sound track of a lifetime not just a ply listed plastic populated late cafe bar playing mr blue sky because some bloke in an office in london has worked out thats what generation x wants at 22 minutes past eleven on a saturday night
ERMMM JUST FOR WHOEVER WROTE THE LAST POST?..MACKIE WAS NOT SACKED FOR PLAYING TO MUCH UPFRONT DANCE MUSIC!..MACKIE LEFT THE PIER DUE TO A BETTER OFFER HE WAS GIVEN!!!
Bootlegger still rocking,,DJ marc mackie mackay,Formally pier 39,Baton Rouge & just about everywhere else.lol Back on deck duties playing Funky House & RnB every sat night...game on
THE PIER HAS A NEW MANAGER , SHE PROMISES TO RID THE 17YR OLD IMAGE AND GO FOR THE 20S AGE RANGE AND AS SACKED MACKIE FOR PLAYING TOO MUCH UP-FRONT DANCE (NOT BEFORE TIME) THE NEW DJ IS SPOT ON PLAYING CLASSIX FROM THE 90S TO THE PRESENT DAY ....... JDS IS NOW A BLOCK OF FLATS ,FREEDOM NOW FINISHED AFTER NOISE COMPLAINTS FROM THE NEIGHBOURS , THE BATON SHUTS AT 12 EVERY NIGHT , ,,,,, EVERY ONE STARTED GOING TO TOWN TO THE RIVERHEAD BUT WITH SO MUCH TROUBLE PEOPLE AR SLOWLY GOING BACK TO CLEETHORPEES ONCE AGAIN.... SEEYOU SOON LOVE MOFF
Willys for Fatwax and Fink Funk nights 2am licence comin in Nov 2005
Baileys gy, west st marys gate- Boogaloo soundsystem
The barge is still one of the only alt bars in grimsby, depressing but truee.. Llyods arms is smokey but also plays loud alt music. The olde musician and spiders web are quite popular aswell but tend to be abit out of the way. The oak tree has been home to the grimsby goffs for random meet ups go to their website to find out dates.
J.D's was great in its day also known as junior disco for some reason (cant think why) ;-)
the baton rouge
the pier, seventies nights on a wednesday are always good (or they used to be)
flares is ok for a laugh
democracy at the winter gardens was Emazing! then it became somethin else cant remember now but i'll get back to you on that one!
god we need some more clubs in cleethorpes!!!!
O'Neills in cleethorpes is cool, it used to be for just the older lot but theres all ages now and the music is GREAT. oh and the barmaids are FIT! quite a fun bunch aswell! Great atmosphere but no caps allowed so it keeps the scum out.
pier 39
willys
art bar
IS SEYMOURS CLUB ON THE FITTIES OPEN THIS YEAR 2005 THE RUMOUR IS SEYMOUR HAS FINISHED
The Pier, although since i left town its gotten very youthful and a bit 'dirty' in its clientelle, maybe the doorstaff should be more selective and only let in the clean, nice people and it may become the club it used to be!!
alternate club i would suggest gullies in town its above the gambeling place near the barge (only pub thats a boat also a good bar if ur into rock music) its about 3.50 to get in and open till around 2-3 its a fun night an recommended altho it has been known that "townie/chav" looking people get turned away... in most cases tht can be a good thing in my personal experience but not always :)
Seymours is the best club in Cleethorpes and if the grabbing sods from bourne leisureget there hands on it god knows what all the locals are going to do when and if it shuts.
Seymours Club is the best club in North-East Linconshire and if Bourne Leisure get there grubbyhands on iti will never visitCleethorpes agian!
the only decent club is pier 39, wednesday night is £8/10 entry (dependin on the time) FREE BAR, thursday nites are now closed, people go 2 chicagos on the riverhead (gy) as its 'quids in'!! also a good nyt. friday the pier is now open til 3 and saturday is 'lock out' open til 3 again. musics always good and if you request a tune, andy will normally play it. i love the pier, probly cos i know most of the staff, theyre all lovely, and the manager is a real gem too! personally, i dont like the baton roug, the staff are rude, the bouncers are ignorant and the toilets are VERY unhygienic! flares is cool if ya in the mood and reflex is meant to be good, not been in myself yet! o'neills is for the older people, seen a few old teachers in there!! bless! ya cant beat baracuda for shots!! and the prices are right too. oh and if your old then dance the night away at 'the barcy', also open til about 3 i think! for the oldies again... the bootlegger is kicking on a sunday with live music (so ive heard). and dont forget ya pizza from pepi's or capri on the way home! best pizzas 2 stop hangover!! ENJOY YOUR NIGHTS OUT! :0)
Pier 39 = wank. Baton Rouge = wank.
Pier 39 if you want a fight with a 16 year old who's leathered off 3 WKD's. Other than that it's top class. Go to the Baton, on the top floor and look down all the girls tops as they come in. Sound.
Pier 39 is the only nightclub o speak of in Cleethorpes, its really rubbish, but sometimes has some offers on. Its just been refurbished, as a different manager has taken over. I worked there when it was the "pervy duo" running it, at the time I thought it could be shut down as it was so filthy! Only worked there 5 months! The Baracuda is a pub, but sells some wicked cocktails, Flares is a 70' theme club, but plays the same 5 records all nite long, and its a proper swaet box. You want a proper night out try Nottingham or Huddersfield!
pier
DARKDRAIN/O'NEILLS always a laugh, just make sure your wankerd before you go
the best places in cleethorpes are the baton rouge the pier 39 flares and park lane
THE PIER ROCKS!!!.... COME SEE ME AN MY SEXY GIRLFRIENDS!!!!!!! DONT DIS IT TILL U HAVE TRIED IT, BIG IT UP 2 SEXY DANIELLE, CLAIRE AN LORAA, DJ BOYZ, DONNY BOYZ, DANIEL&ADAM!
If you want a good dance go to Flares, djs are kinda ok on a friday and saturday and some of the doormen really get into it as well. For a teen bopper disco try the Pier - one visit tho and u wont go back.
OK DANCE FM IS IN YOUR AREA A LOOK PIRATE RADIO STATION,PLEASE TRY THE SITE @ WWW.DFM.XRS.NET OR CALL:07788197186,,,,WE NEED Sponsors
FLARES!!!! I LOVE THIS CLUB!! cause it helps to know the manager!!! Gullys is okies, errrrr Baton! Bootlegger!!
PIER
the new club on the front which no 1 has mentiones yet, FLARES, playes all the good old music, get all ages in there a rite laff deffo the best club on the front as the drinks r priced good and the entry fee after 10 is only £2
Just an update for you lot - Al Fresco left Disco Inferno at Pier 39 a long time ago. The show's now by Richard Itchin and Randy Todger, and features a band of great dancers (well I would think so, I'm one) boogying to the sounds of the sixties, seventies, eighties and nineties. It is the only party night in Cleethorpes.
well what can i say except cleethorpes is crap for clubs. The pier is full of underage drinkers and parklane is full of oaps.
Pier has lost it big time, the Brewery that owns Chigargo Rock Cafe, owns the Pier, they need to sack the Manager Granham and get somebody new in with new ideas etc. They do the same crap offeres every week, the place is cold, damp, expensive, boy band music, staff very unhappy and talk down at you, crap selection of drinks
Pier39: all i can say is cheese. 1 minute its pumping out the newest track and then in comes tragedy by steps.make your mind up what club you are!!! leave well alone!
The Pier and Flares.
Gullivers. Truly a Grimsby institution. I have taken loads of people from other places to this club and they've all loved it. Not a Ben Sherman in sight.
The Pier!!!!kinda place that's only exciting when you're very underage n trying to pass the bouncers (so I've heard).Full of slappers n townies. Everyone mings. It's the law.LH
Take my advice - if u want a good night out, leave Cleethorpes.Head to Hollywoods if its a tuesday (Rock night - best in the world! Well, i assume its the only one i go to!) Or if its friday try Gullivers (Gullies to yocals) tho the bouncers wont let u in if ur too pissed, and try and crawl up the stairs feet first (i dont know why)
Baton Rouge,High st ,Cleethorpes, Ok this is whats going on there.
Wed 2 for 1 on all bottles music policy Club classics & Anthems
thu quids in £1 to get in selected drinks only£1. music policy Dance house, trance ,classics with Marc Mackie Mackay & Chris Power.
Friday x-static 7-2am Club classics & House with des cheers
Sat lust 4 life 7-2am mainstream dance all night with dj Steve James & Guests.
Sun Passion 2 for 1 on selected products music policy house, trance, hard house with dj steve james & guests.
The Pier 39 is much better than it used to be. It now plays dance music AND house and its brilliant. Friday nights are the best nights. There's not enough people there on a Thursday night, 70's night is boring and Saturdays are a bit too packed but Friday nights are perfect. Another club that hasn't been mentioned is Park Lane but you would only want to go there if you are aged 30+ really coz that's who goes there. Another good thing about the Pier is that every Friday night the club goes on Viking FM for an hour and DJ Sam Hayward really gets you in the mood for having a good time too.
I notice that no-one has ever mentioned Seymours club on the Fitties at Humberston. Should be full of caravaners but seems to attract plenty of locals. Usually top class artists during the season and the beer is good also the staff are friendly. Just a pity the grabbing bastards from Bourne Leisure now run the site!
The best night in Cleethorpes now is going to Freedom at the Winter Gardens. It is the only place where you can get pilled out of your face and dance around to top tunes even though the DJs named on the flyers never turn up!
winter gardens,d.j centre, jay dees.
queens in seaview st LOUD!! bit clicky wait for agees if your face dont fit but good
charltons packed on sunday afternoons.exellent staff. johnny leezes local(what a gent he is)
JD's has been bought by the same bloke who owns hollywoods in grimsby. Take it from me he's a well dodgy bloke, so keep well away cos that place is going to be trouble
I'm afraid I can't compete with the current review - spot on!
Pier39 Cleethorpes. The manager is well known for asking out the female patrons (although he is usually turned down, and the girl is then barred). He also doesn't like people going if they are in a group-either from out of town,or an ethnic minority. He charges too much as well for a crappy club in Cleethorpes.
Well you've got to say the Pier haven't you. JD'S is crap and the Baton is a wanna be club. The new place that has opened looks quite good though the BarAcuda. I haven't been in yet. Oh yeah and for those older members of N.E.LINC'S there is always the Parasite club, sorry I mean the Paradise club.
JD's has had among it's guest dj's, Farley & Heller, Rob Tissera, Tony Walker, Griff & Jay, Norman Jay & Tom Wainwright. I should know I have been on with all of them(DJ TOMO). Just because people do not know their history just shows the ignorance & apathy that surrounds the town in general. To say that JD's has done more than any other club to influence the clubbers of Grimsby & Cleethorpes over the last TEN YEARS would be an understatement. If people are so pissed off with the place why do they keep coming back ? If you would like to come and talk to me I will be the one in the corner, opposite the bar, playing all that shit music. By the way under 18's disco's are now on saturdays between 7 & 10 how out of date is this page ? If you are a student reading this get a wash, a haicut & get a job you lazy, sponging, acne faced bastards.
Pier on a Wednesday night....the best night out around if you love 70's music.
j,ds 2 pints and ready to take anyone outside
pier 39 kicking night if u dont get kicked out to make room for another £7-10 punter (nice B.M.W)
Pier 39 always full only a few underagers in there ajoining to the Paradise club where everynight is granny shagging night
My friend loves freedom the best night ever. The local drug scene is alleged to live here at the Winter gardensbut good music and the drugs is a rumour
JD's the biggest shit hole ever boy racers and their pregnant 14 year old girl friends hang here along side those the pier didn't let in
The Monday night under 16 discoand Sunday night under 18 disco don't even think about it the under 16's is at the Winter Gardens with a bouncer who looks just like Bruce Willis. And JD's houses the Sunday night thing
If you're gonna go anywhere in Cleethorpes then the monthly Freedom is the best for clubbers and anyone wishing to get high. Pier 39 is always busy with the older looking clubber and a twelve year old is guarenteed entry to JD's any night so it is like there is no age limit. Lindsey school field and Trinity field are also popular because of their near Off-Licence position.
The Best Dance and proper clubbing in Cleethropes is a Outbreak at JD's - Never go to JD's when Outbreak is not on it is crap. Outbreak has very few 'lager heads' and the DJ's play the best in House and Trance.
DO NOT GO TO THE PIER - unless you like lager boys 'a plently'
The Pier used to be an on and off affair.. I remember the first time I played a House record there I cleared the floor!? (those of of you that remember will know who I am.. he, he). But then, being the fickle bunch they are, the locals claimed to be really into house music only a few weeks later. The rest as they say, is history.. Beach parties and all..
Freedom happens every so often, No tense atmosphere everybody gos for a laugh, to have a dance and be with there friends. Great music and top djs. sometimes there is a foam party open till 2 Over 18 only !
Al Fresco Disco Inferno at Pier 39 Discotheque, is a weekly tribute to the disco decade. Every wednesday 9.00pm Al Fresco and his mates, which include Trevor Leather and Randy Todger strut their stuff to the hits from Boney M, Abba, Village People etc. It's a great laugh and you can get in cheap if you get a token out of the Grimsby Evening Telegraph.
Pier 39 is very good open 5 nights a week with different music every night from 80's to dance.
JD's JDs plays horrible music and the girls dont wear too many clothes, but hardly any of them are over 18... ( well, not my age group).
The Pier night club is a legendary venue.
Live Music Venues
Please, please, please, please KEEP THE WINTER GARDENS! it won't be cleethorpes without it. And can u imagine a scooter rally without it?? NIGHTMARE!
lu carlys to see all the fat yorkeys tryina line dance. good when ur pissed jus looks like a line of lil piggies
Spiders webb and beach comber are the only places that really do gigs in grimsby.
the spiders web
the queens

the auditorum, ok sometimes
Gullivers, Winter Gardens, Wheatsheaf
THE BEACHCOMBER HAS GOTTA BE THE BEST PLACE TO STAY WHEN GOIN ON HOLIDAY!! ESPECIALLY IF YOU'RE A KID OR TEENAGER(13-17), AND CAN'T DRINK YET. IF YOU'RE EVER BORED, OR THE WEATHER'S BAD, GO UP TO THE GAMES ROOM. THERE, YOU WILL MEET THE MOST WONDERFULPEOPLE EVER!! MANDY & PAUL HUTCHINSON!!!! (I SHOULD KNOW! THEY ARE MY AUNTY & UNCLE!!)SO, KIDS, GO THERE!!!!!! ONLY OPEN APRIL-OCTOBER(I THINK!!) JUST ASK MANDY OR PAUL. THEY'LL TELL YOU!
The Beachcomber has started to get some really shit hot bands (even better than Earache my eye, and ObNat (local heroes)) For instance One Minute Silence (Sarah-i've still have my corner of Yaps towel!, and hopefully more will follow!
A variety of boom boom beats can usually be heard down the front!
The biggest venue is obviously the Radio 1 Roadshow - unbeatable! With previous guests like S Club 7, The Honeyz, and DJ's like Dave Pearce and the genius that is Chris Moyles, who can ask for more. Held every summer at the Boating Lake on the seafront.
We haven't got any! the auditorium is crap!
gigs at the spiders web, the catergate rooms an baker street are reall good.
Cleethorpes hosts one of the best Folk Music Festivals in England every year over the late May Bank Holiday weekend. We live in London but have been going every year for the last ten years. The Festival is centred on the Winter Gardens Pavilion, with a mixture of international concerts, music and club sessions.
