  • For the bairns - Mowbray Park, Park Lane For the older folks - any of the great pubs and clubs in the town
  • Parklane is fookin mint like rightz its the place to be, to be in with the coolest people who like rock music let alone it is full with people in bands such as: brent, micky, jamie outa The Stride Danny, Ian, Jack outa the Junkies Helen outa the Frontline Suspects and Willis from the one and only best punk band from sunderland,, LOUDMOUTH
  • Princess Anne Park
  • park lane is mint 4 sk8rs n goths
  • sunderland is shit and stinks...lots of love, newcastle:)
  • all the little charvas in the Thorney Close/Grindon/Springwell area, like to gather in the "Park Extension" which connects all three estates - and fight each other! Westside Story it is not! Then just for the absolute hilarity of those who work nightshifts ride their stolen "'peds" around and around at 10 am on a sunday morning! highly irritating.
  • the subway
  • Are you all simple or something? It's people lke you that make me think twice before saying I'm from Sunderland. You bunch of illiterate, ugly fucking spice boys and trendy girls. Stop shopping in Topshop and get a fucking life. By the way, you're all sooo cool for snorting a bit coke.
  • the bench outside deniros in heerington
  • Pzazz is Closed!!
  • We hang around the public toilets on Park Lane. Every Day for a bit of Cottaging.
  • hylton castle park is where all the charvers go on a weekend wiv their litre of white lightning or pulse or the gud old 2 litre ov bella nd start riots on bunnyhill
  • hyltoncastle park is where everyone goes on a weekend with a bottle of white lightning or pulse or and the gud old 2 litre ov bella. then the riots start on bunny hill with redhouse.
  • Costa in Sunderland is about the only place where you won't be violently attacked by pug-ugly, tracksuit clad morons. Being situated in a bookshop means it's hard for them to get into, seeing as most of them are iliterate.
  • Not much for going out drinking (less staggering distance if you do it from home!) but the Keel Boat in Washington is nice
  • great
  • The dene next to Hylton Castle, always plenty of kids in tracksuits swinging from the trees, like the bloody monkeys they are.
  • The dene next to Hylton Castle, always plenty of kids in tracksuits swinging from the trees, like the bloody monkeys they are.
  • houghton park is the local youth club in houghton
  • Behind the Leisure Centre
  • mostly at vertx. almost all the time u will find some 1 there who is gona go street skating
  • In a back lane behind the pub "The Royalty", it used to have a cheap alcohol shop next to it, but it closed down thanks to me and my mates being caught by the bizzies
  • outside of the shop or the steps
  • The Community Link Team Shop, Villette Road.
  • the steps at mowbrey park next to the winter gardens... and the windmill in seaburn
  • ALL SKATEBOARDERS!!! GO TO VERTX ON THURSDAY CUZ ITS A SKATERS MIGHT....most ppl go 2 vertx and hook up there and then go to like newcastle
  • mowbray park by the pond ( waxt up bench) and "VERT X" skatepark
  • eden vale where all the tracksuit slappers and carrier bag drinkers hang out
  • Bunny hill next to wear view. with a few tinnies from Mr Sangha and a bottle of white lightning for the ladies. Then on to Mr cheng for a romantic meal!
  • Behind Fulwell Mill is the biggest Sk8r hangout Eva!
  • Mowbray Park lol, the Vert-X skate park on Toward Road
  • Noticing that most notices pinned here focus on the city center, I am willing to venture further afield into sunny sunderland. To begin, a perfect place to get burnt alive by cider warriors has got to be Seaburn Beach/roker park. Talk about viewing the culture ov sunderland, its all nicley rounded up at these scenic venues!
  • backhouse park near the play area is where the charvers hang out
  • VERTEX SKATEPARK IN SUNDERLAND.ON TOWARD ROAD HENDON.INDOOR STREET,VERT (HALFPIPE) AND STREET.OPENING VERY SOON.
  • The very best "hook up spot" has to be the leisure centre in sunderlands town centre. Its where me 'n' my mates used to "hook up" for the odd bottle of cider pr , dare I say it? bag of naily! Not much goin on there at the mo though, full of homeless smackheads but still has good memoies for me.
  • Outside C&A
  • maybe a new skate park on toward road
  • charvers seem to like hanging outside my house to call me and my flatmate f*****g moshers amd other "pleasantries" near benedict building/
  • Most people hang around in there little groupies, like on estates such as Dowhill and Hylton Castle etc....
  • Unless you want to get beaten up, don't try hanging around anywhere in Sunderland. If you are looking for people to beat up: try the Civic Center (Sunderlands version of the Hexagon), Mowbray Park or anywheer in Hendon.
  • the stupid statue thing out side the bridges
  • The Purple Olive is a good hang out for bands and arty types who like to eat good stuff. It's where the Boyeater crue conduct business! Anywhere around the University too, IE: Forster Building doorway. Also the Bunker Practice Space is where all the bands worth anything hang out. the dust generated by the place will make you ill though.
  • Outside C&A
  • Mainly Park Lane, especially the bus station (sorry - interchange!)
  • RILEYS. THE NEW POOL HALL NEXT TO THE OLD LIBRARY IS A TOP PLACE
  • Nowadays, it's the new six-million quid bus interchange for Kappa Slappers and tracksuit Warriors.
  • The "boy-racers" used to regularly do the lap from holmeside and past the old CBS but since they started all that work on The Bridges it's gotten quite. Morrisons car park seems to be still popular.
  • Park Lane Bus station - until they closed it down, so now anywhere they feel like it.
  • Silksworth sports complex
  • No particular speck but the local youth will just hang around the streets all day and night. (baa humbug)

What is Knowhere?

The Knowhere Guide started out as a list of places to skateboard in the UK. It is a compilation of (unedited) information and views supplied by users like yourself. It is not a conventional tourist guide!

In most cases, the information in each section has been submitted by more than one contributor (the credits at the bottom of the page list some, but not all, of the contributors) and some of it dates back to the 1970s.

We make no claims as to the accuracy of the information in the Guide - our only purpose is to provide a forum for users to share their knowledge and opinions. So please keep a large bag of salt handy and be prepared to read between the lines!

If you disagree with a comment, or information is out of date, please submit an update! The contributors come from all walks of life, and their opinions are bound to be subjective, so if your view isn't represented, please speak up and contribute to the balance of the Guide. See below in the 'Have Your Say' section for how to add your voice.

Have Your Say...

The Knowhere Guide depends entirely on real users for information. Please feel free to join in.

You can tell us more about Sunderland. This is also the method to use if you want to correct some of the information already here. (But please remember you're not mailing the person who actually wrote whatever-it-is.)

You can use the add an event form to tell us about events happening in Sunderland.

If you are unhappy with any of the content on this page, turn on the flags.

Or, if you'd just like to leave a message for other users of this site, take a look at The Knowhere Board (handy if you're just trying to get in touch with someone).
