Stranded at Lees, excellent Chinese place in Palmerston Road where you can eat as much as your gut can take for £7.99, excellent dishes and a good range of them.
Noble House
Cantonese at it`s best, Service is the best anywhere in the UK.
It's got to be Beckett's wine bar and restaurant for me. Hampshire Terrace;
near to Shorties. All sorts of wine of course, and absolutely gorgeous food.
The prices are about £3-4 for starter £7-10 for main and £3-5 for desserts
(approx)! Try the lamb - it's always excellent. And the raspberry brulee is
to die for. An orgasm on a plate!!! Wooden floorboards, small conservatory
at the back, and a nice ambience to the place. 10 out of 10.
Round 1 sandwich shop
Time For Change - Vegan Wholefood Shop - Fawcett Road, Southsea.
Shorties Restaurant in Bellevue Terrace has the tastiest food around. The friendly service and huge helpings make this place special for any occassion. Well worth going to just to see their ice-creams! Ken's Kebab's on Osborne Road or Albert Road is the place to end up on a Friday night piss-up. Do it!
Here's my top three restaurants in Southsea/Portsmouth:
Wine Vaults Albert Rd: Choice of five veggie and five meat meals, plus a pint for £3 every Sunday and Monday. Lots of real ales always on tap.
Fist full of Tacos, Albert Rd: Mexican/US type food, getting expensive but always good.
Balti house, Albert Rd: Chicken/Veg/Meat Balti £3.50 include a nan bread. Brill.
Southsea Tescos = cheap, open every day for sandwiches etc. Ken's Kebab House: 38 Osbourne Road, Southsea.
Pubs
good pubs in town centre but if u like somewhere alittle quiter try southsea not on weekend though!
The Fleet & Firkin the most wonderful pub ever- it has character a goog name and great location (features in the guildhall walk crawl )
For real ales visit The Tap, London Rd, North End, The Sirloin of Beef, Eastney, The Artillary, Eastney, and the two Wetherspoons, Plus a new one opening soon in North End.
Has anyone checked out Bar metro on the albert road? brilliant decor -Definitely a change from the crap red leather seats when it was called the albert!! Cracking dance music, friendly bar staff, and a brilliant mix of people. Brill place to start your evening off & get you in the mood.
Bar Bluu...good pre clu bar...on the parade
Easy Tiger...Albert road..busy busy busy
Still and West...the Point...what a view
Dome Bar...good atmos...
look out pubs, the vodka monster is comming
India arms used to be a wicked student pub (5 years or so ago) no idea what its like now.
The Liquid Lounge in Albert Road is cool with a good atmosphere. Rather pricey, but you appreciate its modern elegance. Bar Bluu on South Parade by the clubs is a great way of starting the evening ready to go clubbing later, and is also rather trendy
Yates Wine Lodge - cool because I work there.
Victory Pub Southsea Leisure Park
Hogshead in Palmerston Road is cool, and near to the clubs in southsea too.
Langtry's on the see front is decent enough .... gets a bit busy towards the 'clubbing hour', but after that things quieten down a bit and it's a good place to be.
Havana- Kent road, Green goose- elm grove, India arms- castle road
Bridge Tavern in Old Portsmouth has the best Karaoke this side of Nagasaki every Wednesday
Spice Island Inn, Bath Square, Old Portsmouth (good grub too). Still & West, Bath Square, Old Portsmouth (again good grub) The Mary Rose good grub and very cheap
The Bucks on the High Street is exclusively a meeting station for PGS or ex-PGS puplis to discuss the finer points of the wonderful Portsmouth Grammar School.
Cafes and Coffee Shops
lots of good cafes around
The House of Stacks....cheap but good food....Kings Road
Bar MuMu...serve a mean moccachino
All vegged out...southsea...luverly
Paws for thought...marmion rd...good tea and cakes
New Theatre Royal!
Nice daytime coffee shop upstairs.
There's a new-ish bookshop open in Commercial Road (funny name - can't
remember it) but it's opposite Allders. They serve coffee and italian type
snacks upstairs and the surroundings are great. Big squashy sofas and of
course, masses of books that you can read at your leisure while you sip your
coffee. The staff don't seem to mind the fact that you're reading and not
buying which is excellent. I don't like to be hurried!
The Knowhere Guide started out as a list of places to skateboard in the UK. It is a compilation of (unedited) information and views supplied by users like yourself. It is not a conventional tourist guide!

We make no claims as to the accuracy of the information in the Guide - our only purpose is to provide a forum for users to share their knowledge and opinions. So please keep a large bag of salt handy and be prepared to read between the lines!
