• English to Portsmouth translation - Lesson 1 - Say you wish to inform a fellow 'Pompy Kev' that you wish to "Go down town to buy some brown trousers for a pound", simply say thay you are "Gain dain tain to buy some brane traysers for a paind", he will then reply with something like "I likes gain to tha' cheap gaff dain the mar'et to", which roughly translats to "I like to go down the more cheaper end of the market too"
• Porstmouth strikes me as a pretty happening town in the sense of being sophisticated and wide ranging. Its big without being sprawling. The library is huge. The housing is cheap half the price of London for a flat. Secret aphrodisiac!A large tray of FRESH cockles from the little stall near the Victory entrance Wow!Must be somehting in the freshness.........
• Thirst, a brilliant 4 piece 'grunge rock' band born and bred in Portsmouth, they're going to be massive! They play quite alot of local gigs and are well known in the area.
• Best Band....The Murmers of Irma (and im not just saying that cos my brothers the drummer) GO AND SEE THEM!!! Gigging soon near you!! 60's psychadelic popsters....Daryl has to be seen to be believed....the scary sailor suit and the remaining Weirdre Sister!!
• Beware of an influx of gold digging women from south wales. They hang around for any males that are stupid enough to fork out vast amounts of money on their whims, mainly men connected to the MOD are at risk (and I dont mean the naval prescence in portsmouth!)
• Most bizzare must-see place : Cumberland museum - full of stuffed eerie animals that you just love going to visit as a kid.
• Does anyone have anything good to say about the place?

The Knowhere Guide started out as a list of places to skateboard in the UK. It is a compilation of (unedited) information and views supplied by users like yourself. It is not a conventional tourist guide!

In most cases, the information in each section has been submitted by more than one contributor (the credits at the bottom of the page list some, but not all, of the contributors) and some of it dates back to the 1970s.

We make no claims as to the accuracy of the information in the Guide - our only purpose is to provide a forum for users to share their knowledge and opinions. So please keep a large bag of salt handy and be prepared to read between the lines!
