Skateboarding Spots
Dover St car park is big and quiet late at night...
Sussex avenue carpark in spring lane is pretty good ive been told.
the top of the castle street multistory is awsome, until the traffic wardens or the police come and kick you out. Don't go on saturday afternoon, theres loads of cars there at the moment there is a piece of metal there and some bricks you can make a pretty cool grind object out of them. The marlowe theater is awesome until they kick you out and the wincheap industrial estate's carpark is awsome when none of the shops are open, maybe sunday afternoon.
the park and ride in wincheap is prtty good on sunday bcse there arent mny cars and the grounds pretty smooth, there's a skate park (pretty rbbish thgh) jst round t cornr from that as well which is where i go bt there is usully chavs there on there bmxs who beat u up if u dnt leave when they get there
Canterbury is a well cool place to skate. Theres he marlowe theatre which has a 2 set, 3 set n a 5 set. we normally have qite a good skate until the marlowe theatre people come out and chuck you away. Castle Street carpark is good, as you enter castle street car park from the high street side there is a 4 set as you walk in on the right which goes down to the road, the landin sucks a bit coz theres the pavement then the road. On the way to the carpark from the highstreet theres a building with sloped walls, the sloped walls are ok to skate, but by the main doors theres a little ledge which is well nice for grindin, my friend got a nice nollie 5-0 on it and nollie 50-50. By blockbuster there is a ledge. Its across the road from blockbuster, its quite low but a nice ledge, next to it is a carpark, this carpark is good on sundays as cars are in there and the surface is really nice.
University, as you travel thought the university its a massive place, youll find a range of skatespots from marble benches to 8 steps, however a few of these steps have crap runups, but the majority are good, you also have some knarly car parks with nice smooth surfaces and small island to practise manual tricks, the only down point about this spot would be, security this is where it comes to something off a game, u often have to run from them cos they will give chase, it makes a fun day of skating even better ;)
there is a bangin new spot at the canterbury west train station it has fucking sick marble ledges and a mini macba 4 theres also a really rad gap which has a kinked handrail down it... there is a skatepark just around the corner and it's free
the new skatepark near safeways (wincheap) is pretty good. butnot as good as it could be...also outside the marlowe is great.got rails and stairs, but make sure its when its shut
O MY GOD, the most perfect marble hubba outside cantebury west train station. You are allowed to skate it and there is about 15 perfect grass gaps and ledges outside to. Rowley and Penny have been down quite lately and it is definatly worth coming down. Very easy to find. Everyday there is at least 10 skaters there, who also bring their own ramps. Mini ramp soon to come
there is no seven stair handrail and marble ledges at grahams, dont know what that guy is on about
best places to skate in cant have to b caste stree, opposite ricemans, high street and stranges house.
Asda in Sturry is pretty good- a few islands 2 trick on and off and right next to the ASDA car park there's the Argos and Comet area which has 2 seven sets each with multi kinked rails-shit run up though. Watch out for the ever growing amount of pikeys and chavs who'll come and nick your skateboards and possesions you are carrying at that time.
The best spot to skateboard in Canterbury has to be "Castle Street," the carpark at the end of the street is full of different obsticles to skate with, for example the bottom floor is the best place to skate in the carpark, it includes a very smooth surface, just perfect to skateboard on, also their are a few curbs which have been waxed to grind away on. This place in the carpark to skate is blocked off by any cars, so their isn't any chance of getting run over. Finding the carpark is quite difficult, the carpark it self has flats attahced to it, if you can't find it just ask someone for "castle street," the carpark is at the very end of the street.
Outside Ricemans was the main spot but they built more shops over it. People now just take to the main high street.
The multi storey car park
Grahams Plumbing and Heating centre. This spot is sick man!!!! Many skaters gather here every Sunday to skate the 7 set with hand rail, marble ledges, perfect grass gap and grind box and kicker ramps stored round the corner. Look in the bush on the right for Dave's phat grindbox - make sure you put it back afterwards or Pikeys will steal it.
Inside Canterbury Univeristy by the duck pond. It's got ramps, railings, steps. Just watch out for the porters, who'll kick your pikey ass
Just outside town in a village called Broadoak is a pub called 'The Royal Oak' a guy called Andy lives there and skates with a lot of people out the back on ramps and stuff. It's supposed to be very cool.
Also the uni and ASDA carpark late at night.
safeways car park and the multistorey
St Stevens primary school is grea, the council have plans for a scatepark, but there are too many old people in Canterbury.
a lot of skaters hang at trifalgurs square
Skateboard Shops
Thres a new shp clled boardwalk they sell pretty sweet boards and stuff, but b4 freespirit shut thy had the mst awsme stff in canterbury.
just wanna say that freespririt canterbury isn't gonna stop selling boards, trucks etc dunno who made that up but i work there and we are still getting regular deliveries so come get some stuff
Johns or utinni is the best but itll be closing soon cos johns going to uni. Nations is shit and overprice there decks and clothes and freespirt wont be selling decks or skate stuff soon so you might be able to pick up a good deal when theres a sale.
I got flip sidecuts for £10!!
nations, orange street
Free Spirit in the main high street sells skate stuff, as does a small shop in St Dunstans street, near to carraccios haridressers
hargreeves. boom.
The best skate shop by far in Canterbury is now "Johns/Team Utinni Skate Shop" Its finally made its move into a proper shop now @ St Dunstans Street(near the west train station). The guy who owns it seems the Bollocks, really polite, really helpfull,Dont get put off by his mean look (tattoos & ear tunnels)He is really genuine. Its fully 100% skater owned so they know there stuff. And it seems that even if they don't have a product in, it can be ordered & at a better price than anywhere else. I say Support you UK skate scene & buy from this shop as I want to see them get bigger with your support in the near future.
best place prob is free spirit for decks, nation for clothes and missclanuious skate stuff, sole trader, outsiders and free spirit are quite good for skae shoes.
