Record Shops

  • Hmv in Queensmere, Woolworth, and Other Shops, Tesco's and that.
  • HMV
  • Slough Record Centre on Farnham Road is a good place...if they haven't been overtaken by the C word yet.
  • Slough Records - Farnham RD
  • HMV, Virgin, slough record shop
  • Slough record centre, and by the way what the **** happened to Elusive Vinyl? that was a badboy record shop in the village centre and now stocks 2 records.
  • I tend to jump on the train & go to Shepherds Bush to update/ catch up on my soul/ rare groove collection
  • Try ebay.................
  • Slough records, farnham road
  • slough record centre..it's heavy
  • HMV,Farnham Road Record Shop,Virgin
  • HMV, the temple of music. Some of the staff have dreadlocks, which used to carry an instant death penalty in Slough. This law was repealed in the late 1990's after Amnesty took the case to the UN.
  • Slough Record Centre of the Farnham road is the best shop for miles aroud. Litterally thousands of dance vinyls and VERY reasonable prices.
  • A shop on Farnham Road sells loads of actual vinal records;I have never been in but my mate says it is great.
  • I DONT CARE WHAT ANYONE SAYS SLOUGH IS GREAT.SLOUGH RECORDS IS AMONG THE BEST ANYWHERE AND SAM AND SIMON WILL FIND WHATEVER YOU WANT.ALSO ELUSIVE VINYL IS A SMALLER SHOP BUT IS GOOD FOR FINDING,WELL,ELUSIVE STUFF.
  • Slough records on the Farnham Road is where all of the rude boy mixers (like me) hang.
  • elusive vinyl in the village, just expanded and still as friendly and helpful as ever
  • A good place for vinyl in Slough is ELUSIVE RECORDS in the "Village" just behind the High Street, it has a fine selction of tunes and also has a "Classics" area opposite the main shop - oh yes and Steve - the boss is well helpful!
  • People listen to total bollocks in Slough. Farnham Road has a couple of interesting independent record shops.
  • Only HMV needs mentioning (cos' I worked there for a couple of years). Best choice in Slough, but expensive. Virgin (next to the cinema) is good for late nights after a film, but clueless staff. A couple of cheap independents on the High Street are good too. (Music Box?)
  • Ummm...Enuff ppl hav probably already mentioned Slough Record Centre, on the Farnham Road, but I'm gonna mention it anyway, 'cos it's bad.
  • There's a great HMV in the Queensmere Shopping Center which is just as good, if not better than other HMV's i've seen. They've always managed to order some hard to obtain cd's within a couple of weeks.
  • SLOUGH RECORD CENTRE QUINTISENTIAL DANCE SPECIALIST! SELL EVERYTHING FRIENDLY FAMILY OWNED BUSINESS. NICE PEOPLE!
  • To my knowledge there are no decent record shops in Slough, Cept Slough records who deal in alot of vinyl, not your everyday pop or comercial shit, but Garage, House, Hardcore, and all off shoots of those. To find the address just look at a flyer, as they also deal in Tickets for most big do's. Helter Skelter, slammin Vinyl etc. Its situated on the Farnham Road near the Fire Station.
  • HMV is still one of the best shops in Slough. But now a new Virgin Megastore has opened next to the cinema, and Our Price has now closed down.
  • Absolutely the only place to buy records in Slough is at the Slough Record Centre in the Farnham Road (opposite GFE and the new Lidl store) It has everything from Clubmix to C&W-the staff are very friendly and knowledgable. You can buy tickets for raves as well.DON'T go anywhere else!
  • DEFINITELY HMV (Queensmere) by far - outclasses the trashy OurPrice store (with v unfriendly staff), and the WHSmiths/Boots unless you're only after top 40, whereas by checking all these stores you could save the odd pound or two here and there. 4-Play (Observatory) seems very dead indeed, but can find there better posters than anywhere else in the town centre. Music World (Queensmere) is more specialist orientated, although HMV will sort you out on whatever you need to order.

Clubs (Dance Music) and Music Bars

  • Night Clubs and Pubs, ooo yh and in Windsor Leisure cENTRE every Month there is a Club for Teenages aged from 13-18 and starts at 7:30 - 11:00pm it is called Illousion for more information on it then Call Windor Leisure Centre. It plays hophop and R'n'b It is ill.
  • visions.
  • liquid club in windsor is so so hot
  • if you want to hear teenage boys trying to mc go to vision your ears will be bleeding by the end of the night. dont say i didnt warn you
  • harrys: 13 year old girls chicagos: 45 year old slags SL1/Vision: ? litten tree: normal people que pasa: normal people lighthouse: not friendly place 4 whites assembly: cool place
  • ILLUSIONS
  • Clubs in slough you must be mad there all pits, Harrys well you only go there for one thing and your feet stick to the floor so you coudnt get away if you wanted to, Visions (sl1) is dead i went in there and there was 5 people including me and you get frisked as you go through the door, Litten tree is a nursery so your better going to reading or anywhere but slough
  • It would seem that a certain Mr Tim Westwood & some other Radio 1 Dj's have found SL1 irresistible, coming back quite regulary... i suppose this has absolutely nothing to do with the fact that the club is right next to a Travelodge!
  • Harry's is ok, if ur on a low budget and want to get blind drunk, and face it ur have to be blind drunk to want to pull ne of the lads in there. as for the fighting, it all seems to have clamed down, but it still has a sticky floor!!
  • Is there any? Oh Chicago's... does that count?
  • clubs in slough aint much 2 say aslong as u ova 12 deyl let u in no questions n if dey dun den da bouncers can expect sum shit
  • Chickagoes if u under 21 £15 al u can drink!!! bare rucks afta mostly d slough grammar wantab rude boys. make sure 2 say hi 2 my x mark probly with iz tongue down sum slapper throat or wez both male whores
  • Harry's is not a nightclub, it's a fightclub.
  • Not so much clubs as cattle markets. Those who are desperate might want to try Harry's but be warned, strong beer goggles are required when looking at any of the women.
  • Have to agree Harrys is poor, and they also make you match women to men on entry. Hence there is the comical situation of standing on the door at the front of the queue for an hour whilst the club is half empty. Sports Bar is OK late, pretty relaxed, and new SL1 is expensive(£10 entry/£3.80 for a bottle). Bizarrely SL1 won't give you the bottle but give you a glass anyway;so whats the point? Chicagos £15 entry free drink on Fridays;attracts some dodgy people but a laugh!
  • id just like 2 say ,that i have visted harrys bar on several occasions and thought it was a a great place 2 go ........lovely relaxed atmosphere..great staff......and brill price....all in all a great place 2 go at the weekend ....go and see what your missing........
  • There is an astounding LAP-dancing club in Burnham...
  • SL1 - although my boyfriend managed to get us barred on the first night it opened. No drugs allowed in these places!!! Be warned - you will be searched - can try to hide stuff in your bum crack but this can make it sweaty! Harry's - classy birds and top geezers! 412's - recently burnt down though. Not many good clubs in Slough. Henry's closed down years ago.
  • harrys - ok if your mentally drunk/chemically enlightened. sl1- been told not to go there by my friend who works there, very strict on searches and you have to pay toilet attendant. 412- burnt down the other day, but a haven for drug takers in its hay day.
  • Err, since the Disappearance of Henry's and Sluffs there are: Studio 412s and Harrysboth of which are...well.....bad.....very. The pubs around usually have loud music during the weekend and some places (such as the Sports Bar (tel: 01753 531720)are open till 1 am during the weekend. +
  • AVOID harry's at all costs!! New club SL1 is just a faux E20 (but without the drama of Eastenders).
  • Harry's has become a better place to go recently...... the fights have stopped and the music is pure cheese if you like that type of thing...... Oh and the £15 all you can drink can't be a bad deal!
  • Harry's Well if you don't pull there you must be FUGLY or over-dressed!!!!!!!!
  • Severe lack of good clubs in Slough especially if you are over 25!
  • The Litten Tree, The Lighthouse, Harry's, SL1, The Assembly, Yates's, Rems(west indian pub), Sports Bar, Moon and Spoon...... to name a few
  • sl1 heavy nite club
  • Harrys is a good idea if you r so pissed you cant see, but otherwise probably best avoided.
  • MIRAGE IN WINDSOR FOR UK GARAGE
  • Clubs in Slough???? Well, the barrel is there and the bottom is regularly scraped. Harry's is a great night out if you want to spend a few hours in A&E afterwards. The floor is sticky and god help you if there was a fire........................
  • there are NO clubs in slough. (but there are rumours that the basement of the village will soon become a fully licensed night spot)
  • Loads of clubs in the High Street. They're for drinking and FIGHTING. IF you go, prepare to have to hold your own in an unprovoked assault (local pastime). "Gentlemens'" Clubs in surrounding areas are much better.
  • Clubs are not meant to be fun places in Slough. They're a place for serotonin-deficient low-alcohol-tolerance youths to let off steam. Beware.
  • Harrys. Slough no longer has Sluffs.
  • Harrys, dogs Bollox, if you cant pull there then you must look like that kid in that mask film starring Cher, Moon and spoon cheap beer, good crowd. Sports bar, dont believe the hype. The ----nologist and Firkin, okay during the day. Litten tree, the place to Be if your one of the in crowd. You can always travel to Mirage, a haunt of pushers, contract killers and 14 year old Windsor School girls, who pay bouncers in kind to get in.
  • Harrys and Henrys is a no go area full of 13year olds. There are alot of new pubs in Slough like the Litten Tree, the Lighthouse,Picthers Sport Bar and the firkin pub next to Harrys.
  • Mirage (Windsor) - young stimulated crowd, thud thud thud music, fantastically expensive (only kids can afford it) Harrys (Slough High Street) - 20-25 yr old, various music, dance on tables, cracking women Smokie Joes (Maidenhead) - 25-35 yr old, cover bands plus disco and food for £5! Excellent. One day all clubs will be this way. Sluffs (Slough Co-Op roundabout) - 35 - 135, nuff said.
  • If you are going, find out the locations of Henrys in Burnham Beeches or best still check out the club scene in Windsor, there's a famous one there for KISS FM dj's, Mirage. Easily accessible via train from station, only one stop away.

Live Music Venues

  • Go to pubs, and Clubss.
  • visions. (dont bother just go to london)
  • Que Pasa Slough has a stage and has live music every Thursday and sometimes on other nights. They recently had an international review night with bands from Canada and America as well as local talentand have been the subject of two bbc articles the most recent can be found online here http://www.bbc.co.uk/berkshire/content/articles/2005/11/02/que_pasa_review_feature.shtml , they have a gig guides available at the enterance to the venue as well as an online guide www.lemonrock.com/quepasa
  • Que pasa is now hosting a monthly Open Jam Night called freehersal where bands go to play and jam with each other Last thursday of every month lots of fun if you play or not , they even have instruments for people to use, they call it freehersal because the only places you can rehearse in slough cost money and this is free, whats cool is you also get an audience and they record you if you want top gig!
  • Que pasa on the high street has a Jam Night the last thursday of every month 7:30-12 they even have instruments for people to play! at the last one there was a folk set a jazz set a flute player and a rock set then a full on jam at the end, Quality night makes a change to see live music in slough
  • Heavy metal night Tuesdays at Que Pasa (formerly Yates's). These people won't bottle you
  • Que Pasa Thursday & Sat have a dj who plays r'n'b & also requested tracks. Sunday is Karaoke night at the mo
  • Live music is dead in slough, there some tired old covers bands that occasionly grace some of the local pubs(The Stag burham beeches, the rising sun slough, If you want to hear new stuff go to London.
  • again does chicago's and que 'leopard skin' pasa count/ I doubt it! I've actually never found a place with some much spirit but so little to do there!
  • The "Que Pasa" bar on the High Street now has live jazz music every Tuesday night between 8 - 11 PM. Usually just a jazz trio (pretty good) but occasionally a quartet.
  • Littern Tree, Yates, Que Pasa. The Stag in Burnham Beeches that has a live band on Friday nights - crap music but they serve drinks 'til 12.
  • none in slough, surrounding areas are better, although if you class burnham beeches as slough the Stag do have have some good gigs.
  • Music venues in Slough are fairly scarce and you reallyneed to check out everywhere to know whats going on. Some pubs sometimes get in tribute bands etc but the more reliable source of Live music occurs at The Herscvhel Arms (monday nights from 6pm -> Live Irish Music), The Rising Sun (Ask at pub for details) or Pitchers Sports Bar (tel: 01753 531720) where 3-4 live bnads play every month on one night called exposure night. Apart from that you can keep aneye out for anything or goto the W.A.C in Windsor. +
  • The Sports Bar sometimes have live bands. Unfortunately they are of the Ska Punk variety instead of Skate Punk or metal which would be better. Nothing against Ska punkers just that never should Punk and Trombones mix...ever!
  • The sports Bar opposite the library has day when they get a local band to come and play, other than that theirs the W.A.C in windsor which sometimes has live gigs. Many Nu-metal and grunge.
  • Music left Slough in the 60's
  • No good venues in Slough anymore Come back Prince of Wales............. What about Studio One, Libertys (Alexandras. Shoos), Sluffs is gone now as is Henry's and that awful place on the Uxbridge Road - BAG O SHITE
  • Go to the pubs. Good music venues do not exist in Slough.
  • The 10plex movie theatre used to be a music venue, the Fulcrum, but it closed down.

What is Knowhere?

The Knowhere Guide started out as a list of places to skateboard in the UK. It is a compilation of (unedited) information and views supplied by users like yourself. It is not a conventional tourist guide!

In most cases, the information in each section has been submitted by more than one contributor (the credits at the bottom of the page list some, but not all, of the contributors) and some of it dates back to the 1970s.

We make no claims as to the accuracy of the information in the Guide - our only purpose is to provide a forum for users to share their knowledge and opinions. So please keep a large bag of salt handy and be prepared to read between the lines!

If you disagree with a comment, or information is out of date, please submit an update! The contributors come from all walks of life, and their opinions are bound to be subjective, so if your view isn't represented, please speak up and contribute to the balance of the Guide. See below in the 'Have Your Say' section for how to add your voice.

If we have helped you out or made you laugh you can buy us a pint.

Have Your Say...

The Knowhere Guide depends entirely on real users for information. Please feel free to join in.

You can tell us more about Slough. This is also the method to use if you want to correct some of the information already here. (But please remember you're not mailing the person who actually wrote whatever-it-is.)

You can use the add an event form to tell us about events happening in Slough.

Or, if you'd just like to leave a message for other users of this site, take a look at The Knowhere Board (handy if you're just trying to get in touch with someone).
