Clothes Shops, Shoe Shops, Fashion and Bargains
the field is an excellent designer clothes shop, but ridiculously expensive
Go to the WADE Charity shop behind M and S! It is brilliant and everything is a quid. My mate got a dinner suit in there for a pound and it is wonderful! There are some fabulous shirts and some utterly disgraceful shirts which are so horrible, that you have to buy one! Two shirts is still less than the price of a pint and you can get M&S, Debenhams, Jonelle, Fosters, Burton... luck of the draw. Try it!
Unfortunatly they closed wise guys where it was fun yto have a splif and bust a groove on their decks!!
New Look, Burtons, Dorothy Perkins etc... not bad if ya like that sorta thing
John Woods Sports does a great line of 1980's tracksuits that still remain on the racks, usold to this day.
Rather lacking really - go to Reading
"The Field" for Versace, Hugo Boss, Calvin Klein and Ralph Lauren.
Arts, crafts and such (Anything from pukka art galleries to craft shops. Trendy and twee both welcome.)
The Harte Gallery in Wokingham exists to promote The Arts and Artists throughout Berkshire. The gallery also has its own Studio where regular classes are held including Life drawing, Learning to Draw and experimental Workshops for the more advanced. The Harte Gallery ... Oxford House 39 Broad Street Wokingham
Just moved to Wokingham - can't believe that there is no mention of Wishes and Kisses - Craft and Wool shop - 62 Peach Street. You can't miss it - it's PINK!!
Better than Hobbycraft for selection and prices - friendly and informed staff. Try it - they've got free card making demos.
ermmm home grange has a gd art shp place
A random art gallery next to the opticians - opposite teh Pet Shop - never bin in there, never planning on either...
There is a "craft village" along Heathland's Road, just opposite the giant strawberry. Good selection of stuff to browse around, and a pretty good art gallery too. 16/01/03.
Wokingham Theatre, on the Twyford Road, near Cantley football fields. Eight shows a year and always a great night out. It costs just 6 quid, and there's a bar at reduced prices!
The Craft Barns on the Heathlands Road (Wokingham Without) are a good mix of twee and trendy..... there is the traditional ye olde worlde craft shop with the usual teddy bear and pot porri selection but the art gallery has some surprisingly modern stock, especially in terms of sculpture. There is also an unusual range of specialist shops such as a circus shop and hand made sweets. There is, of course, a tea room for your afternoon treats!
Magazine and Comic Shops
Well, there's always the public library (WHSmiths), but that's it.
My mate Mez has to go Guildford for sock monkey!!
melody maker, mojo, and Q sold at fourboys wokingham.
WH Smiths has the best selection. Forbuoys is alright, but the staff are either pre-pubescent or on their way to the grave.
The Knowhere Guide started out as a list of places to skateboard in the UK. It is a compilation of (unedited) information and views supplied by users like yourself. It is not a conventional tourist guide!
In most cases, the information in each section has been submitted by more than one contributor
(the credits at the bottom of the page list some, but not all, of the contributors) and some of it dates back to the 1970s.
We make no claims as to the accuracy of the information in the Guide - our only purpose is to provide a forum for users to share their knowledge and opinions. So please keep a large bag of salt handy and be prepared to read between the lines!
If you disagree with a comment, or information is out of date, please submit an update! The contributors come from all walks of life, and their opinions are bound to be subjective, so if your view isn't represented, please speak up and contribute to the balance of the Guide. See below in the 'Have Your Say' section for how to add your voice.
If we have helped you out or made you laugh you can buy us a pint.
