The Best Things Bookmark and Share

  • What best things? The constant battle of wits between the cool resident seagulls and not so cool Aiberdonians. The great transport links - A90, train station, bus station, airport - all great ways to get the hell out of Shite City.
  • Its home to me. Close to a variety of beautiful countryside and costal villages.
  • twitch the spastic
  • Everyone and everything in Aberdeen is half-assed, so there is no pressure to be a better person when you're here.
  • Aberdeen International Youth Festival - The World's largest multi-arts Festival for young people, the festival brings the best young talent Aberdeen and the North East every summer. Don't miss your chance to see the stars of the future - with classical music, world music, jazz, dance, ballet, theatre and opera they'll be something to surprise and inspire you.
  • The 1.99 breakfast at Lloyds bar
  • Getting out of the miserable fucking place.
  • most people are really cool. theres not a lot of teritorial places apart from the few people who want to ruin it for every1 else!! yeah u know who u are!!
  • Student nights every monday and wednesday !!
  • we have a fairly decent skate scene here
  • the blue lamp.
  • the people...i know there are alot of idiots who love nothing more than to fight at the weekend or the many junkies who pollute our city but the good still by far outweighs the bad! i love to go on holiday but i always love to come back, so the weather is dull, who cares i love to feel the wind at the beach 100x more than the dull rain of glasgow!! we need more aberdonians to be proud of the city, it's beautiful, and those who mock the granite city and the oil workers...shame on you this is what makes aberdeen the city it is!
  • Beautiful parks at Hazelhead and Duthie Park. More pubs per head than any other city in Britain means you are always guaranteed a good night out. The suburb of Cults is absolutely stunning in it's beauty, huge houses surrounded by woods and rivers. The football team are very well supported although not very succesful. Hundreds of golf courses in and around the city.
  • ace partys
  • I have to second that! It is very impressive that Opera Garden achieves such a high level of music making, and presents productions that are such a delight theatrically as well. I first discovered this Aberdeen treasure two years ago with their production of Carmen set in a smokey nightclub. It was a slick and stylish evening which could have packed any "popular" venue for weeks. Last year's Magic Flute was no different. The piece was set in a world of bold primary colours on a simple yet striking set. I have seen The Magic Flute in five or six different productions, and found that this one struck a beautiful balance between the many themes that run through the opera. I am a reasonably seasoned opera-goer, and can say that the standard here is impressively high. If you are in Aberdeen at the beginning of August - run to see their show! I'm trying to change my summer plans to make another visit possible. This year they are putting on Falstaff - a true masterpiece!
  • The harbour, the Bay of Nigg, the River Dee access to the countryside and hills around. The range of people who live there come from all over on account of the oil companies located in Aberdeen. It's green and mostly clean
  • The fighting on the street on a saturday, The nice looking bouncer on blu bar door, aberdeen is still small enough that everyone knows one another.
  • ace nightlife, see boats, planes, funfares, the sea, and the city all in one place
  • The best thing about Aberdeen is telling an American that you are from Scotland and that you are not "one of them". Thank God we are not yanks!
  • Hardly any tourists because there's no real touristy stuff in the city, they all get bussed off to castles and distilleries in Speyside instead (having grown up in a town where the only available jobs were in the tourist trade wearing tartan and answering stupid questions, the lack of tourists is something I really appreicate)
  • Memories of 20 years ago when Aberdeen was far better than it is now.
  • Best thing about Aberdeen is the friendly people. Unfortunately we get too many migrating dickheads who think Aberdonians are morons when in fact it is they who are ignorant, anti-social lower middle-class prats!
  • Stay in abderdeen for six months, go for a walk and you'll meet someone you know. Its a city where you are never really alone. lots of pubs, clubs etc!
  • The really cool pubs and clubs scene, loads of students and fine bartenders.
  • aberdeen rolls aitkens!Best ever made min!!Fitdee!little bit with smurf houses and wierd creatures!Stoners heaven!duthie park on free at the dee!a mate shagged some random in bush!Saw some ugly sites tho!
  • Aberdeen beach when the sun is about to rise in the morning. The sky is usually beautiful and you can see some of the rigs and boats offshore. Also, if you like rain, this is the place for you. Tolerance Zone for prostitutes, which is pretty liberal.
  • Having a beach on your doorstep.
  • Lemon Tree, Belmont Cinema
  • The red P-Reg Corsa with the white phantom alloys and combat 1 bodykit use2 be owned by towler now owned by sum small dude shit hot car he has modified it alittle still, but the white wheels are a trademark best car down the boule by far.
  • Compared to the west coast it is SO much better that you can get on with things without some cunt you don't even know trying to talk to you all the time and be your "pal".
  • great if you love winds that cuts right through you and bring aberdeens already low temperatures to well below zero with wind chill.
  • the graveyard at st nicolas used to rock the shiznit for lying on the grass smoking reefers in the sun.. now your pretty likely to get bumped there.
  • Under the usually dull skies of Aberdeen there are some truly amazing people.
  • The Beach parties. First thing in the morning watching two lesbians throwing each other on top of cars knockin lumps out of each other at the city bar.
  • Presents is a really good head shop with great staff its a bit pricy for some things though
  • the amount of flesh exposed at the weekends, regardless of the weather
  • THE BOYRACERS DOWN THE BOULEVARD! ABERDEEN IS ONE OF THE BIGGEST CITIES IN ABERDEEN TO HAVE A PHENOMENAL AMOUNT OF MODIFIED CARS. SOME ARE WORKS OF ART SUCH AS THE SILVER HONDA CIVIC TYPE R WITHT HE TINTED WINDOWS AND CHROME ALLOYS, THE XRV VAN WITH THE CHROME ALLOYS. COME DOWN ON A SUNDAY EVENING AND ADMIRE ALL THE HARDWORK THAT GOES INTO MODIFYING OUR CARS
  • Health Promotions in Union street. Complete waste of time! Wankers the lot of them! Except that blond in the red dress, a right looker if you ask me. Expect she understands complementary therapies and does not give a sh..t about the health Boa..d's opinion.
  • Sitting in union terrace gardens on a sunny (but of course never hot) day, running around pissed at night on the sand dunes by Bridge of Don. Aberdeen is an ok place if ur pissed enough and the sun shines
  • The Belmont area - around Backwynd and Belmont street. Over stuffed with the wierdos, rejects, all my mates and well just generally all the coolest folks, shops, cafes, clubs and cinemas in Aberdeen! Satrosphere next to the Beach, Seaton Park and Union terrace gardens.
  • The Goths - Come back all is forgiven.
  • Got to be the BOy Racers- its like a scene from the Fast and Furious at our Beach Front defiently THE CITY FOR EXCELLENT MODEFIED CARS!!!! THE SILVER PUG 206 WITH FULL NEW KIT ON IT IS EXCELLENT AND THE 2 HONDA CIVICS FULLY KITTED OUT ARE HOT TOO!!!! THE XRV VAN IS THE BEST THO
  • there's not too much to aberdeen, our shops may not be big and many but that means they're close together. I've been impressed by the overhaul of the bus system and introducing colours, oh it's made my life so much easier to know i get on the us with a big "claret" line on it.
  • Listening to those who boast that they can speak the doric as if they have mastered 5 European languages. It is of course a comedy but they are serious.
  • Getting away from here!!
  • The architecture, the beach, the fact that despite it being a city its still not that busy and can be fairly quiet.
  • Defiently the Beach Boulevard and all the cruisers in their cars!!!
  • IRN-BRU AND GREESY CHIPS
  • Anyone who ventures out of Aberdeen long enough to not be an arrogant materialistic rude obnoxious prick
  • If you have the sense to join the Freemasons, the best companies if you want a job are Diamond M, Global, Maersk, and TSF. The management is full of them. Do not forget, "have you come far", "is that a knock I hear", "have you been here long" are all enquiry statements. An Aberdonian accent gives pseudo credibility.
  • Join the right golf club and meet the so-called "Human Resource Managers". Before the Oil they could not even obtain a job as a simple milkman or a fork lift driver. These people will find you a job no matter who or what you want to be. It helps to have a good golfing handicap but you can always lie about this, just as most CVs in Aberdeen are complete lies.
  • It's only two & a half hours drive from civilisation.
  • Those birds that squeak incessantly as they fly...yes I've heard them too. Sort of squeak flap squeak flap squeak flap etc. Squeak flap Squeak flap Squeak flap Squeak flap Squeak flap Squeak flap. I've heard it said that they feed on leprechauns and there are lots of those sneaking around.
  • The beach and the Cruisers. The HOT XRV van with Chrome Alloys is a must shit hot. The Black Toyota Celica, with Tv - (which u can hear b4 u see it, is tastefully done up).In a really nice way. Watch out for the B reg Mini thats yellow (absulute shite). THe corsa Sea/aqua green colour with mille miglia spiders on it is really nice - and also tastefully done up, along with the white corsa with the bodykit.
  • XRV VAN WITH SMOKED OUT WINDOWS - MAKES ME WEEK AT KNEES EVERYTIME I C IT! BEACH CRUISERS THAT CHARGE U A TENNER FLAT FARE AND TAKE U HOME ONCE UV HAILED HTEM DOWN ON UNION STREET AFTER A DRUNKEN NIGHT OUT! - I SALUTE YOU!
  • THE BEACH AND THE CRUISERS!!!!!!!! THE TIDY XRV WHITE VAN THAT GOES UP ADN DOWN THE BEACH WITH CHROME ALLOYS
  • The Superbowl on George Street
  • Huge Seagulls and wee birds that squeak a lot as they fly. A Beach and fun park and it stays bright all night in the summer.
  • Aberdeen FC,and its fantastic supporters.Unsurpassable in Scotland. Being the station at the end of the railway line. You can fall asleep, knowing that it will be impossible to miss your stop. Butteries. Not too healthy, but mucho tasty. Union Terrace gardens.Great for crashing out, having a sandwich,IF the weather's up to scratch. Being far removed from the inbred and sickening sectarianism which is rife a hundred odd miles down the road.Definitely the best thing.
  • Provost Skene House, round the corner from ugliest office buildings, step back centuries into really authenticly furnished house.
  • Glam@TheAECC and AC/DC@TheAECC, two different experiences but both of the best rushes you could possibly get in Aberdeen. Also the weather in the summer when the sun does shine it never goes down, just a pity we have to have winter as well when it never comes up. If you don't like it live somewhere else and come back the grass is definately not greener on the other side (but the women are generally better looking.)
  • Clean town. Used to be much better. Not helped by shortsighted council and minority of uncaring residents who dump litter. If you must puke, or "exercise" your mongrel, please do so in the gutter. Regularly wins Britain in Bloom. Lots of daffies in springtime This was one one of the councils inspired ideas. Plant daffies so you don't have to start cutting the grass well in to June! Lots of folk nick the daffies, some even try to sell them..... Oh dear! Good Parks. Winter Garden in the Duthie Park is a gem. Hazelhead Park is great too, especially for wee kids
  • The accents, the acceptaqnce that drinking is what matters most.
  • Its good for whores.
  • Getting drunk and walking home.
  • Plenty of Goths and all things Gothtastic.
  • Irn-Bru and Butteries the morning after
  • Karaoke down the harbour. Ebbe Skovdahl
  • Its a nice calm quiet city, and its got some beautiful buildings.
  • Those rather friendly women that lurk down at the harbour.
  • the best thing about Aberdeen? Has to be the MEN! although i`m convinced the best way to beat the English is not on the battlefield, it`s by stealing their women!
  • After living in Aberdeen, everywhere else in the word seems a fucking brilliant place to live!!
  • The grey buildings set against a grey sky - pretty dramatic. People asking for a Cafe Latte in Starbucks - any word vaguely 'foreign' spoken with an Aberdonian accent is well worth hearing (fish out of water...)
  • It's not Glasgow. Aberdeen rolls (Buttries)
  • Are you slaggin off Cruden Bay you fuckin prick CRuden Bay is SOOOOooooo Fuckin cool that you would freeze to death if you came here. And It has some Talented Bladers and Boarders aswell. (EXCEPT DAVID AND EDDY)
  • decent night at glow especially when ninja tunes play, eg: Herbaliser,DJ Vadim, Blackalicous.Copious amounts of hash
  • It's home, and hey,you could be living in Cruden Bay instead!
  • Aberdeen F.C
  • granite buildings...look much better than the red brick and sandstone of down south..( glasgow , edinburgh etc.etc.)
  • By joining the freemasons the town will open in respect of employment, no matter what job your after. This is particularly important if you want work offshore, where real technical incompetance will by covered up by fellow masons. Trust me - I am a Doctor!
  • Cool people, Sound Bouncers, Skateboarding, snowboarding, Jungle Music and my girlfriend
  • amazing skatepark
  • Lazerquest, the beach, some clubs.
  • The huge amount of pubs and lovely women
  • Its better than Hull, believe me, but has a fairly derogatory attitude to it's page. This must be because Aberdonians are more modest.
  • shops beach bulivard
  • The BEST thing about Aberdeen is the bloody airport to take you the hell out of this dreary, uptight city full of some of the dumpiest women and pretentious nose pickin'men on the planet.
  • Pelican nightclub [when not charging too much].
  • Exodus [special door offer this weekend].
  • Prince of Wales bar.
  • Blue Lamp.
  • Kinky Rhythm.
  • DJ's Tich & Manzer.
  • Glider Indie Club is OK but too full of students.
  • Daffodils in Springtime.
  • The Cruickshank Botanic Gardens (free!) on a lazy, sunny day.
  • The sea on a stormy day.
  • The lovely soft water.
  • Marischal College - the second largest granite structure in Europe.
  • Granite when it has been cleaned and is all white and sparkly.
