  • Gruff Rhys from Super Furries' nain used to own the house that is now Little Italy in North Parade.Guto of same band has family here. Van Morrison once came into Andy's Records when on holiday.
  • Cliff Richard seen buying milk in Llanon Shop circa 1970 Prince Charles seen in the Roundabout chippy in the 70's

  • Uli Jon Roth german guitar legend lives here. Sue Jones Davies (judith in the Life of Brian) is my next door neighbour. Robert Plant has a house 8 miles from town.
  • BB (as in 'Big Brother') Aled, who is one of Chris Moyles' (Radio 1) flunkies, is from Aber.His parents used to own Morgan's Cafe. They have now sold it and are bored stupid, according to Aled! It is very amusing listening to Aled's camp ramblings about his days in Aber, you should tune in!!
  • Dafydd Jones and Stephen Jones who both play rugby for Wales and Llanelli were born here. Dafydd was spotted in pier pressure one pissed up night.
  • Malcolm Pryce, author, born Shrewsbury, lived in Aber age 9-18. Author of Aberystwyth Mon Amour and Last Tango in Aberystwyth
  • Neil Hamilton was a student there for a bit. That's what I heard, anyway. Prince Charles was there as well.

  • A friend of mine was playing a gig in The Angel pub a few years back when a guy who was there with a lot of friends asked if he could jam with them. My friend agreed and nly noticed halfway through the jam that it was in fact Jimmy Page!!! Here to visit Robert Plant, who lives near Mach.

  • Saw Craig Charles after a gig at the Arts Centre and remember Huw from Eastenders? Saw him caned out of his face walking up Penglais Hill. Also, Ken Jones from 'Porridge' etc has been known to read his scripts in the Limit Cafe.
  • The woman who played judith in Monty Pythons life of brian lives around town somewhere. Oh and some bloke who looks like the elf crow out of Hawk the Slayer if anyones seen that top shite film! Look out for the soon to be famous/arrested/molested MIGHTY FUOD. THEY ARE MIGHTY,THEY ARE FUOD, THEY'VE PROBABLY SPLIT UP!
  • Sue Jones David from "Monty Pythons-Life of Brian" and "Solomon and Gaenor" lives in Aber. I belive Robin Huw Bowen lives somewhere close by as well. Also David Baddiel read that the guy who played R2D2 in Star Wars once lived in Borth?

  • Dr Leonard "Lenny" Persaud (1997-2000) The world reknowned Revisionist Historian was resident at the University for an eventful 3 year stint in which time he produced his controversial and groundbreaking rethinking of the Cuban Missile Crisis.
  • What's Robert Plant up to, these days? He used to regularly hang around the Black Lion in Talybont. Mind you, they could have happily filmed all of the Harry Potter series there, as everyone looks like a wizard.
  • Davy Crockett of the Crocketts used to hang around Rummers all the time. Thats about as good as it gets, sadly. Of course, Elvis and John Lennon are both alive and well and living in Borth but that's a closely guarded secret.
  • The hammock man. Lives on top of constitution hill in a hammock. He can only be spotted early in the morning and then vanishes with the mist.
  • Niall Griffiths, author, who has written GRITS and SHEEPSHAGGERS is a Aber resident. GRISTS is set in Aberystwyth and is well worth checking out.

  • Cerys from Catatonia went into the Black Lion in Bridge Street when they were closing for the night and asked for a pint - the barmaid refused to serve her.When the barmaid found out that the girl was Cerys from Catatonia,she said 'I don't care where you come from,you're still not getting served.'- this is true.

  • Hey! The Crocketts wrth cwrs! Sigened to Blue Dog and just released their debut album. Unfortunately move away to London last year, but pop back for gigs now and then. Their New Years one's are almost tradition now.

Alec Muffet wrote and refined 'crack' while working at UCW's Computer Unit; Alan "Linux Networking" Cox was a student here, writing AberMUD and doing other things with a variety of people whose escapades did go down in JANET folklore. Robert Plant and other old Zep members used to drink in the Castle.

  • As a student at the Uni in the early 90's several stars were spotted. The whole of Dodgy were once seen playing in the Bear (I know, I was there!). Mike Peters (ex Alarm) played the union when it was named "The Ark". Ron Dickson (Brookside) was once seen making a purchase in the "Bon Bon". I know, nothing too exciting but remember....this is Aber. p.s. Led Zeppelin played the old cinema (which is now a car park) in the early 1970's... wow things were grooving in them days. By the way, if you walk into Barnados, ask to speak to Jo and give her my love...
  • The only famous guy I know from here is the guy who managed to hack UNIX passwords.. only famous amongst computer scientists and their lecturers.... never mind...
