- Pier Pressure plays EXACTLY the same sonegs every week, in the same order, at exactly the same times. Can be a larf though if you're drunk enough and don't take it too seriously! :-)
- theres no clubs in aber
- Pier pressure- an absoulout dive!! the music is so cheesy and the same music gets played - The sandancer even has better music than this place!!you also have a personal assistant who takes ur feet off the stools! which is one of the bouncers!! The only time this place is alrite is when ur nearly paraletic and do not know what your doing!!
- Pier Pressure an absoulout dive!! - the worst music ever gets played twice! and cheesy!..- even the Sandancer has better music than this place!! You also have a personal assistant taking ur feet off the stool.. which is one of the bouncers!! like you are doing some damage to the stools!! Only go here when ur nearly K.O and dont know what u are doing!! as i do!..
- In my previous post I was referring to the dive called Club Yokos
- This place hs gone so far down the pan you can't even see the top. Bad DJs, appauling music and abysmal service all make this place the 'total miss' experience of Aberystwyth. The website doesn't work and there is absolutely no atmosphere. The management are blind to what the customers actually want.
- Best nite = Thursdays if you wanna get drunk! Start of at wetherspoons-get a shot and a bottle. then the varsity get a shot. then downies get an admiral - £3.50 for 4vodkas w/ redrooster - then academy for a absinthe (£3) then go to inn on the pier 70p a shot, get a stamp before 11 so you can get into the pier for £2, then pound party at the pier untill 2am, then head to the angel £1 to get in for a reggae nite untill 4am!
If you want good music, downstairs at the bay used to have good music when glitch and funktion were on once a month they played drum n bass and house, now the only good music nites are kontrol and karnage up the art center-not very often for drum n bass and hiphop. funktions gonna be startin up there again soon too! WOO
NEVER GO TO YOKOS NEVER EVER EVER
- Yokos goes from bad to worse. The odd looking chav has surpassed himself this time. Vodka Red Bull in a large tumbler free to anyone who pays £5 to come in on a Friday. Thing is its not real Red Bull.
- Ah Yokos run by that odd looking chav with a mobile phone continually welded to his ear. A total dive, tattoed 'ladies' poledancing on a Friday night. A total miss
- The angel has different nights ranging from reggae to rock and indie, good atmosphere on the right night.
The bay, good fun when crowded.
The Pier, handbag dancing emporium, a bit like going to benidorm...quite a laugh if taken ironically.
- Down Stairs at the bay is good if you like Hardcore, techno, and the like. Back room at the Angel has Reggae nights, Indiesoc, Rocksoc and Punksoc just a quid or so to get in.
- Ah, Yoko's is now offering the more discerning punter pole dancers on a Thursday night. Classy.
- Glengower has now reverted to a pub only venue...no night club, no live music...or music at all...probably due to the boring and most customer unfriendly management driving the place into the ground...shame on them
- start of in wether spoons its cheep so a good way to start the night. Then the Cambrian - massive cocktails, v.cute barmen, the music is a lil loud. The Mill followed by Rummers(the best pub in town and dodgy old men so watch out!!)and good live music like the man that played all the hits of the stereophonics!!1 or kanes followd by Harleys then (which ever way you take) on to the accademy then straight in to angel normaly end the night here dnt go to yoko's if u dnt like trashy pop music and chavs!!!
then b4 u get the taxi home u must go to hollywood pizza its well nice!!! tip out ur money on the counter then ask for the biggist pizza u can have for this amount and they'l prob give u a bigger one!!!!
- rummers ,the bay the glen n the mill coops is gd 4 underage drinkers!!! n gigs also
- Pier Pressure...just kidding!
- Let's set the record straight about that wonderful place known as Pier Pressure. Let's face it, it is an absoloutly appaling place .... if you are sober! The only course of action then is to get completely trollied before you walk through its doors (or up it's rather steep stairs). A task which is easy and very cheap to do (if you know the right places), triple vodkas ring any bells?? It is expensive to get in, but as you've hardly spent any money all night and you can buy bottles for £1.50 then who cares. The bouncers have been given too much power and have been known to make people queue to get in even though there's only 20 people inside!
The Pier is much more fun without the students - the locals come out to play and let their hair down, So holiday time is the best time to go - but watch out for those lost Brummies though who should be directed to that pit called Yokos (always been a dive and always will be - no amount of leather sofas will make up for that!). Saturday nights are full of farmers and 'young' ladies - bit of a cattle market really. Thursday nights are the best, DJ Loui - a legend, fantastic. Cheesy music all round - what more could you want?! Finish your night off with a Hollywood pizza and you're made!! Enjoy.
- Pier Pressure - mainstream attracts scantily clad, drunken singles, Yoko's aims for a more sophisticated crowd, doesn't always succeed. The Bay - grungy as always. Arts Centre hosts individual nights by Euphoria, Delirium, Kontrol, Electric Vindaloo.
- Aber has no decent clubs.
- Oh dear.... well the choice isn't good! However, Aber seems happily stuck in a musical time-warp, where "It's raining men" is still at the peak of 'cool'! The Pier is ghastly: rude staff and DJ Louis firmly believes that he is Dr. Fox... and that that is a GOOD thing! However, fair play to Aber residents who are putting on alternative nights all the time; e.g Symbiosis, Funcktion, etc. there is something for every taste. The Bay, despite being a hole, is a very friendly venue, which hosts a lot of these life-saving nights.
- YOKO'S!
- Due to Aberystwyth's medium size and remote location (in the middle of nowhere and at least 50 miles from any large town), the standard of clubs dips towards the bottom end of the measuring stick. In 2003, the filthy, debauched dive K2 was transformed into the apparently swish and up-market 'Club Yoko' (the reasoning behind this choice of name still being a source of bemusement to myself and others). With its 'toilet attendants', (who attack you with sprays then ask for cash), iced pint glasses and sharp-suited bouncers, it is totally out of synch with the familiar low-down grime of Aber. As such it stands alone as the most towny, modern and 21st Century drinking establishment in town. Did anyone say pretentious?
- They're all absolutely crap, complete cheese the only alternative venue the bay is a complete sweat pit where the apparent 'indiesoc' nite doesnt even play decent music. What happened to PO NA NA..Get a DECENT FUNK/UNDERGROUND NIGHT GOING EVERY WEEK. Electric vindaloo at bay once a year practically is not ENOUGH!!
- The pier it does feel like your about to fall into the sea but thats half the fun. Best music ona friday
- Aberystwyth: K2 is now really plush and called Yokos, it ould fit in well in a big town! Pier pressure is still cheesey, and sat is like a cattle market, hovever its still great with your mates!! The Bays getting new windows oooooo!!!
- Pier Pressure is good for anthropological analysis. Er. The Bay is a club.. kind of, but it smells like a toilet and looks worse. The Glen is hopelessly tacky and looks like about seven clubs collapsed into one.
- YoKo's have a little Kenyan dude who washes your hands after a slash then gets tipped. We laughed but he's probably the richest man in Mid Wales. Duw Duw.
- They are all appalling - especially the pier... and its a terrible rip-off. £5 for a load of boozy boxers and a sound sytem guaranteed to tear your eardrums to shreds
- Just so you know I'm a student . . . where to go club-wise depends on your taste in music really. If like me you're a bit of a mosher, head to the downstairs area of The Bay on a Thursday night. For cheesy pop head to Pier Pressure any night of the week, or The Angel on a Wednesday for a bit of punk.
Nowhere else really, as the rest are all pubs . . .
- CLUBS!!!!! Don't make me laugh! 'Pier Pressure', is best and If you have ever been to grotty club like 'E20' On easties then You have no requirement to suffer again! 'Academy' is a Failed 'EXchange'! and 'K2' i have never been in thank Goodness; Form what i hear it is small and when it is open All the nights are very similar, ussually full of Local Kids doing their GCSE's and A-levels The 'glengower' is Like a Pub club combo still is Gritty, but then again if you have plenty to drink you'll think your in and IKON or Cream Club!
- Just got to say that over the years I have been in aber I have never seen a club go from so bad to simply soooo much worse than the Glen. What an absolute pile of sh*te, and the "bouncers" are just fat students!!!! Avoid at all costs...
- Pier Pressure on a Fri/Sat night is an experience as it is not frequented by students. The locals come out to play and it's knee deep in yummy mummies which is brilliant if you're a 21 yr old male!
- Pier pressure, the glen, the union, all cheesy but who cares!
- Aber footie club used to do loads of top nights, but now i think it died.
- Go for the Bay every time! Watch out for the Whores of Babalyon though! The Glen gets waaay too bust during term time.
- Aber may b crap but all I do when im out is laugh(at the under aged kids in crap cloths and 2 much make up)!!!!!!!
- Po Na Na's is usually dead and has no atmosphere. However, it does have one of the sexiest barmen in Aber, so there is one reason for going... Bring back the Boars!! Glen bouncers are arseholes and the Bay is a dive, but it's a bit cheaper than the Glen. Pier Pressure is not worth talking about and as for K2...
- Po Na Bloody Na? I say bring back the Boars Head! (minus Pete Scales).
- Time flies at the student union is a great nite of hardhouse/trance once a month with dj's Matt Hammond, Dave Lewis etc and is the only reason i would go 2 aber on a nite out. AJ Gibson from God's Kitchen is playing next time, May the 5th, should b good, c u there
- Well the Pier night club on the prom holds about 500 and K2 at the top of pier street (150m from the Pier) holds 200 if you are sad!!!
- Pier, K2, Union... none of them particularly good.
- End the night on the lovely sticky dance floor at the Glengower(Glen). Or Pier Pressure if you're VERY drunk.
- The Pier is hellish funny. It`s A - I dunno what people expect from a town with a 17000 population. Go to Llanbed for a bit - then you`ll appreciate Aber more!
- Pier or K2 in town. A tossup between two shit venues really. The Union is not much better either.
- The best club in Aber is po na na. The music is good, and there are'nt many locals in there. Avoid the bay at all costs as it is the most digusting place in Britain, with the worst beer to match. Pier pressure and the glen are allright for a laugh.
- The once gay bar, the boars head, has now become a thouroughly bizzare turkish theme pub called Po Na Na. It's not as Luvvie as it used to be, and they dont sell pints, just shots and bottles, none of which contain bitter. Grr...
- Pier Pressure is crap-full of underage kids in mini skirts from New Look.K2 is ok if you're really drunk.Rummers is the best - good bands, good beer, sawdust on the floor and candles everywhere.
- there aren't any.
plenty of promoters trying at the moment to squeeze some life out the poor venues dotted around town.
The best are plastic fantastic (aber fc) juice (bay) freestyle(k2)
the worst are the pier and the union. both are chart music hell full of drunk tarts in top shop sale items and looking more than slightly scary AVOID
- Are you being funny? K2 is s*** and all the rest are loud pubs with a late license. Pier Pressure is okay if your thoroughly pissed already.
- The Pier Pressure and it has a serious queue on a Tuesday. Go there by 9.30pm to
avoid it being too long...
Do not go to the K2 unless you want to get a beating or worse...the people there
are really stupid.
The Union chnages the names of the events every year but the Friday events are usually
a knock-out
- The only 'Club' in Aber was once the Pier. The council closed it down some
years ago and there were riots on the streets as there was nowhere to go!
- The "cetic bar" has got burnt down along with the rest of the seabank hotel a few months ago. The fire spred almost as far as Glengower.
- Porkies is good on a Tuesday night, only go on a Saturday if you want to get your head kicked in.
Porky's is now called K2 and is nice to look at but unfortunately is crap! They don't advertise and they don't have any good nights at all - only popular with locals now... I used to DJ there and the decks were knackered and the sound system was well weak...
- Friday and Saturday downstairs in the Bay, Wednesday night in the Bay too.
I read a bit saying the Bay was a meat market - this is only true if you go upstairs with the dancy-types. Downstairs is great, although hopefully it won't move too far away from the metal/goth scene as it seems to be doing.
- Boars Head, behind the Glen is the favoured nightspot of local gay population.
- Boars Head is also a favourite nitespot of the Drama Students/Luvvies
- New Nightclub, called Pier Pressure. Run by the Inn Of The Pier (The Pinn) and is, of course, on the Pier.
- Students Union is getting much better!
- Pier Pressure - Tuesday nights - student night - DJ Toby - playing underground house and hardhouse.
- Spank is the main hardhouse/techno night in Aberystwyth now - features at The Aberystwyth Football club once a month on Fridays, then at The Pier once a month on Fridays too.. This night at the Pier is amazing! GOOD CHOONZ!
- The Union is weak - still - they are in the middle of a bit of an event restructure so only time will tell what they come up with - the current nights are Spice which maybe as the name suggests plays Spice Girls and all that charty crap, on Wednesdays (but soon now to be Saturdays - I have the inside word having previously DJ'ed at the Union) is your 70-80's disco night - VERY popular here.
