  • Arts Centre one or two gigs a month Coopers at the bottom of Penglais hill folky downstairs/jazz upstairs
  • Feathers Aberaeron...will it ever reopen??? Do they want to sell their concrete mixer???
  • up the art center, or the rummers for local welshy bands
  • The bay, rummers, the Angel, coopers, Harleys...all small places, but can be fun on the right night.
  • Scholars seem to be getting in a few folksy-type bands these days.
  • coppers arms, bay, rummers, the glen art centre
  • rummers coops n the art center sometimes the bay basment
  • The Castle and Rummers - shame there's not more room to dance in these places
  • Arts Centre has capacity of 1,250 so does take the bigger bands when it can get them. Stereophonics, Van Morrisson, Reef, also supports local bands such as The Crimea (previously The Crocketts), Mighty FUOD. Runs a regular Blues and Roots string and has just signed to the Sony new signed bands tour schedule, so lots of good music to come.
  • I have never seen a decent band in Aber.
  • FUOD will, and always were, my favourite bunch of lunatics in the Aber music scene. So if you just cannot conceive of passing up on an opportunity to call Mark a wanker, then watch out for them at The Angel or The Castle.
  • The only place for thousands of miles around where any bands of National note play is the Arts Centre, where recently such shining lights as er, the... the Levellers, Reef, Electric Six, The Blockheads (sans Ian Dury, 'cos he's dead), and er, well you get the picture. The Super Furries wouldn't even deign to come here...
  • Rummers has a great atmosphere, the bay stinks...sort out the swamp toilets, get a decent sound system
  • Quite a bustling, but largely uninspired and generic scene. Not much by way of more exciting things, except for a more illusive band there called "The Berlin Wall of Sound" who have the gall to do a three hour live sets of ambient amp feedback over cheap computer drum programming at "The Coopers Arms" every now and then. The Coopers Arms is quite good. The Bay have live music occasionally. So to the Castle. Rummers on Thursday, Friday and Saturday night. But, generally, none of it is very interesting, and the music in Rummers tends to sway to the other side of annoying.
  • The coopers is an old classic for gigs, its free to put gigs on and the irish barman will shout at the remarkably young patrons in there who stand on the seats and it will become very sweaty and impossible to move!. IN the Bay sound is appalling but gigs can really rock, especiall;y if Petrol Monkey play, but moshing is not permitted and patrons are often ejected. Dont ever put on a gig in the glen unless you are a fool... the union is the best place to play with the best sound but unfortunately ever dwindling audiences.
  • k2 has been reopened as yoko's nightclub-very nice decor-leather couches, silver tables, great service and great music-the best club in aber at the moment
  • Quite a few pubs/bars have nights when lots of up and coming bands play...look out for posters to see if Mozz, Mojives or Dead-Weight are playing.
  • Well I did a gig at PJM bar in May 2001 so obviously that's class.
  • The Cwps put on a variety of bands upstairs - Welsh/English/Folk/Rock/Jazz. There are also regular impromptu jam sessions of traditional music in the main bar.
  • The Arts centre. Many would dis-agree, bet the Levellers did play there this year!
  • Look around cos some pubs showcase up and coming bands. Loads of bands around, look out in particular for the Mojives if you like funky music. Bra Shite MInger are OK if the guitarist takes his top off.
  • Arts Centre, Union, Bay, Castle... it's best just to check the posters around town to see where the bands are gonna play...
  • The Castle has some good live bands, otherwise the Bay or the Union.
  • Rummers is good. Castle occasionly. Union even less frequently than never.
  • Rummers has GREAT live music on Thursday and Friday nights its Free Too
  • Local bands do us a favour once in a while and STEPS are coming for the Grad Prom but this is why most graduates arent attending.
  • Rummers for pub bands, some from far away... well, Birmingham.
  • Blues and roots in the Arts Centre.
  • Student Union very poor.
  • Stay overnight wherever you've gone shopping.
  • You're joking aren't you? The only music venues there are now is the Arts Centre, or The Union occasionally...
