Cheap Food in Aldershot, Hampshire*
Corner eateries, quick bites and the local chippy
You can tell us more about Aldershot.
Cheap Food
- This is a Brilliant Site - It guided us to the AM Restaurant in Victoria Road which describes itself as an Oriental Buffet Restaurant serving Chinese, Malaysian, Singaporean, Indian and Thai food. Very smart decor with good food and for lunch it cost us £5.90 each for as much as we could eat including dessert.
- Pizza hut buffet is 10/10 for value. Its an all-you-can-eat buffet £3.99 just pizza and £5.49 Pizza, salad , garlic bread and pasta. Many people know a guy named Michael Campbell, who managed to stomach 20 slices from there!!
- if you want cheap, but quality food food i suggest you visit tesco's their prices are comical lol. AM's is a very popular restaurant also, mainly because of the all you can eat buffet.
- Frankies and Jennys are great! Really cheap, and good service. Also, Seafare chippy on Ash Road and Tom's chip shop on North Lane are really good. There's the usual fast food places like Burger King, Maccy D's KFC and more, as we have Pizza King and Curry King. Oh yay. The only 2 restaurants are The Bengal Lancer [not cheap but great Indian food] and the AM restaurant [really good buffet style of Chinese and Indian mostly- but also Thai, Malasian etc.]
- I wouldn't say cheap, but by far the best Indian resturant in the Bengal lancer, Opersit Manor Park, the food is good, the LAmb melts in your mouth and the staff are freindly often offering a complimentry drink to their regulars.
Tony's Chippy is no more, it is now run by some asians, but it looks cleaner and well presented for a kabab shop although I am yet to eat there.
- if u have a really small budget then you want to go to frankies
- Just moved to Aldershot and went in search of vegetarian Chinese take-away. Tried McChina WokAway on Victoria Road and ordered Tofu in Green Peppper and Black Bean Sauce. Got it home to find they'd given me Chicken and Tofu in Green Pepper and Black Bean Sauce. Veggies beware.
- AM's is excellent, great food and value for money.
- AM restaurant on Victoria road - buffet style oriental food - good vallue
- I see no one mentioned the very excellent Bengal Lancer Indian Restaurant, just a few doors down from The Golden Lion Pub, High Street. The food is superb, the service great and they do a fab all you can eat buffet for £7 on a Saturday and Sunday lunchtime. They also do a takeway service, either phone up or go in.I would say that the squaddies are far less now and they don't seem to cause as much trouble as they did when the paras where around (bless em!), However I certainly don't feel safe as a female in the town centre after 8pm. used to work in Yates and it is o.k, the music is good and the DJs are on Thurs/Fri/Sat. They used to have tribute band nights, which were always great fun and a good night out, but it seems they don't any more, shame. The drinks are expensive, but they do ahve promotions on, so need to keep an eye on the posters.
Hvae to say for great fish and chips, try Plaice on ther Parade in Ash Road, huge portions of chips and a variety of things to go with them including the unusual pineapple fritter!
- New One A&M's - a chinese on Victoria Road - it is excellent - buffet style (serve yourself) but cheap and good food, as much as you want for about £8.
- The town is crying out for a good French or Italian Restaurant. Nepalese and Indian Restaurants, with the Bengal Lancer deemed the best, dominate.
- try the haggis and chips at tonys fish bar
- Tony's is always a laugh as he is a funny old bloke but the chips and fish are always too greasy!!
- Fast food heaven. McDonalds, drive thru Burger King, take aways of all imaginable kinds. And one decent restaurant - the Ghurka one opposite the comic shop.
- The Bengal Lancer - good Indian food at reasonable prices!
- Johnny Gurkhas is still the best place to go to eat a curry.
I lived in Aldershot for 20 plus years before moving to Australia.
There is no curry house down under that compares.
Tonys chip shop in the high street. Has been there for all time.
Dont piss him off, he has a big heavy stick behind the counter.
All those years ago-a Saturday night out included a soft porno movie at either the ABC or Odeon cinemas followed by a vist to Tonys.
- Every body raves about johnny Gurkha's, ok the curry is good but its whacked the prices up lately. Try the juboraj opposite the library-it's excellent-£10.50 deal eat as much as you like means you can have ANYTHING and as MUCH as you like eg. king prawn Balti £9.50 + Murghi massala £7.25 + pilau rice £1.95 all for £10.50 how do they do it?
- McDonalds, Burger King, Pizza Hut, vaious other greasy eateries.
- Dose anybody eat out in Aldershot ?? Where are all the resturants in Aldershot!! We need Bistro, Italian, Chineese, Thai, Indian, Greek. Anything is better than CHIPS !!
- No restaurants just caffs.
- Macdonalds, down the high street
- well ok whan you have had a few day time you had to look hard for a good place to eat
- The Oriental Kitchen in Grovesnor Road does superb chinese take-away food. Try the special chow-mein.
- The Tandorium on Station Road does the best Chicken Pasanda in the universe. Trust me, it has to be eaten to be believed.
- Oriental Kitchen Grosvenor Road simply the best.
- McDonalds is OK.
Burger King
KFC
Pizza Hut
Lots and lots of Indian and Chinese Takeaways -
particularly in North Town - all seem ok - haven't
used a bad one yet so can recommend them.
- Brilliant fish and chips in Newport Rd if its still there?
- PIZZA HUT IS THE BEST PLACE TO EAT IN ALDERSHOT DUE TO THE FACT THAT ALL THE WOMEN STAFF ARE GORGEOUS!!!
- All the usual fast food outlets
- A.N.A Oriental Foods (Supermarket).
- Just been out to Aldershot for a meal. Went to Spanish Delicious Restaurant in Victoria Road. A great meal freshly cooked as we waited by the owners. Well looked after came away well and truly full. Would recommend restaurant to anyone who wants a good Spanish meal. Now closed.
- McDonalds is great - a brilliant pre-footie and post-footie pig out session is essential. DO NOT - DO NOT visit Burger King - every time I've been it made myself and my friends sick (milkshake is o.k.) You could try KFC if you like that sort of thing - the staff are dipsticks though. Pizza Hut is excellent - Large Stuffed Crust Margharita with extra cheese - nice! Macaris do great chips - never underestimate the power of Macaris.
- Spanish Delicious Restaurant in Victoria Road is no longer there (went bust about a year back). For GREAT fish & chips try Chip Shape in Halimot Road (on corner of Grosvenor Road).
- Further to the tragedy that is Aldershot - the Spanish restaurant has closed down - although i must add that a fine combination of entertainment and good food is a Friday night at 'Jonny Gurkah's' - to see is too believe.
- Johny Gurka's at the top end of Victoria Road does a mean curry. Also the Brewers Fare out by Tesco's (Wellington Street) is a good family pub and reasonable grub
- If you want your food fast this is the place. MAC/BK/KFC/WIMPY/Indian/Chinese it is all here in the centre of Aldershot. The Health Centre is also close if needed
- Macari's.
- Loads of chip shops.
