Cinemas
  • well there was a good one in aldershot a year or two back but its closed so the place people around this area tend to go to guildford now.
  • Let's see, we DID have one crap cinema but they knocked it down to make a bingo hall. Um EXCUSE ME, but wasn't there a bingo hall RIGHT NEXT DOOR BEFORE?! How crap, apparently they are building another "big one" but this will take 10 years. Not joking. Guildford has a big Odeon, Alton has a really good independent cinema, Woking has a big cinema... and obviously London has loads!
  • Aldershot is closed, Guildford and woking are pretty good though.
  • i was gutted when they closed down the cinema (near the bingo lol) they said it was going to be rebuilt but we all know its never going to happen
  • None - recently closed the one on High Street - years ago there used to be 3 - Cheeks nightclub used to be a cinema called The Palace (before it was turned into a nightclub called the Palace then Limelights, R.Station, erm... probably others as well!
  • Fingers crossed a new miniplex cinema could be developed behind the Police Station. See www.aldershot.towntalk.co.uk for updated and current information
  • Aldershot's last cinema 'The Odeon' (built in the 1930’s) shut down on July 10 2003. The plan is to demolish the building and King’s Church for development to attract large retailers to Aldershot. According to the Aldershot News, “Rushmoor Council regards the site of the current cinema as key to the future development of the town centre”. I ask that the council learns from it’s mistakes with the (cheaper-than-chips) “destination shopping centre” The Galleries, the “refurbishment” of the Arcade, Wellington Street and the building of Tescos of the edge of the town, which bled out a lot of the trade and thus the life. I ask for a council that places the interests of ordinary people like me before that of corporations. The closure is a severe blow for local people, who will have to travel 9 miles to Bracknell or Guildford from July 10 for the nearest cinema, as Camberley cinema is also shutting down. This is going to be very difficult for those on modest incomes and / or those with no car. This historic building is one of the town’s best-known landmarks.
  • The ABC is closing down - too soon. There are plans to bring in a mini-plex cinema when the development goes up on the area occupied by the health centre...We Live In Hope!
  • It is a shame that the cinema is closing shortly. Fingers crossed that the Westgate development will provide the town with a miniplex cinema.
  • Its very Cheap £2.50 before 7pm, but its naff and will be closing soon. New cinema and bars and restaurant complex is to be built and completed for late 2004 at the top of the town near the Princess Hall which should be good!!
  • There used to be two run down 1950's cinemas (three to four screens each). One is now the "Kings Centre", some American funded evangelical nuthouse. The other is a cheap if grubby place to see the latest blockbusters.
  • A sweet, old fashioned cinema (like they should be!) far better than being crammed in at The Odeon!
  • Has a small cinema - only about £4 to see a film!
  • Don't even go there! Although there is a cinema in Aldershot and tickets are considerably cheaper then anywhere else the place is ancient and not all that nice! Tickets cost about £3.90 before six and very slightly more after for and adult ticket.
  • TOO smal, meant for little kids saterday mornings.NEVER again. Cant get used to me knees forced in my ears.
  • OMG it is shit. it smellks like cheez and thats only the staff......
  • Aldershot cinema, you wont miss it, just ask anyone on the street, theyll know. Theres also a very cool bowling place, with a bar and with very nice food as well. The best place to go with family.
  • I actually refuse to watch a film in that cinema, trust me go to the Odeon in Guildford. Good sound, picture and seating... great snacks. Makes the film more enjoyable for sure!
  • thay were good in my day Saturday mornings ect now just out for money like every were else
  • GO TO GUILDFORD FOR THE CINEMA. aldershot bowling alley is cool.
  • The only cinema in the town and in this day and age we still cant pre book seats there....its fun to watch the queues during the summer holidays and the crying kids who cant get in after waiting for the past hour or so to get in!!!!
  • ABC down the high street - bit small though. Head to Guildford or Basingstoke for a better one.
  • Sadly a 15 min drive to Guildford gives you a far better cinema.
  • Cinema is small (3 screens)but usually manages to show all the real biggies. Seats very uncomfortable though. However useful as local towns like Ash and farnborough don't even have one at all. Best to travel out to Guildford, Basingstoke or Bracknell for a multiplex.
  • The cinema is small but not too bad. Worth going if you're in the area.
  • Not a bad cinema - shows about three films at a time, not bad prices for the Surrey / Hampshire area.
  • There's now a bowling alley in Aldershot where the old Argos used to be. It's got quite a few lanes and the shoes aren't manky yet.
  • There is a cinema here but I have never visited it. I travel to UCI in Bracknell. More Choice and good sound quality.
  • In the only cinema in town, don't sit on the right hand side of the main screen. there is an extremely annoying buzz from one of the speakers. Its been there for the past 3 years...so far.
