Pubs in Aldershot, Hampshire*
The place to go for a lazy afternoon, pub quiz or last call
You can tell us more about Aldershot.
Pubs
- Queen Hotel is ok these days, been done up and the orrible fat blonde thing that used to run it is long gone. She could drink the men under the table (and shaggd most of em too!)
- The Red Lion has a new Landlord and the atmosphere is 100% better, the pub now offers excellent food and has regular live entertainment.
- The White Hart in Tongham has a really friendly atmosphere, real ales and three bars, one a sports bar, where you can play music, pool and/or darts. Heated smoking area and a beer garden.
- The Beehive in Aldershot is now an excellent pub. The landlay and landlord are really friendly, as are the locals. It's recently been decorated and is now getting very popular. We don't get too many youngsters in so it's a really good place for peopel aged 25+ to go. The Beehive is on the High Street, just up from the Outback.
- The Red Lion is a fantastic pub. Under the new ownership, it's even better! Other than that, the pubs are a bit seedy. The Heron used to be good, but I have no idea what it is like under the new management. I have heard bad things though.
- goose, yates
- the cannon was the pub but like all good things it aint no more
- This is the OUTBACK OUB on Highstreet, Please paint me, My windows are all falling a part and I look like a right PUMP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
- THE FUNKY END. NICE FRIENDLY STAFF AND CROWD. DJ'S AND THEMED FOOD NIGHTS, CHILLED ATMOSPHERE
- yates
- The Crimea is now a good place to go for a good night out. Good beer and food. it is nice to see a nice pub again.
- Whoever said the Imperial Standard is a dump and run by fat lezzo`s is wrong! Its a small local, friendly, family orientated pub, which has no trouble, yes gay people do drink their as they do everywhere, check it out, its a nice venue!
- OUTBACK oposit manor park is a great pub for the younger ones! NOT THE UNDERAGED! come in for a drink the landlords are great....friday an sat night usually something going on
- Funky End is great, nice atomsphere and no weirdo's!
- Best place to go if you are normal is The Funky End opposite the station - It's fairly new and done up like a cool london bar and have djs playing funky music at weekend and do some good food during the day
- The "Alex", as we called it in our youth when we frequented the place purely for the fact they didnt ask for ID AHEM, not that I am saying they served minors you understand. Anyway The Alexandra hotel (opposite the Warburg carpark)is a dirty, disgusting place, full of inbreds whose vocaulary consists of 4 letter words only.
- The Garden Gate, Church Road Aldershot. A Paranormal Investigation.

- Millions!! Best one by far is The Funky End - which used to be The South Western and was also called Easy Cafe. You wouldn't think you were in Aldershot when in there.
- the globetrotter was a real friendly family pub
- Most of the pubs in the town centre are cheap - pints under £1.50 and bottles for £1.25. Yates is good in the evenings, The Goose is very cheap but lacks atmosphere, Bar Sterling is pretty friendly and plays some good music. Hogshead is always hassle free, The Unicorn and The Funky End are worth a visit. And Tiffanys is a pub with naked dancers which is always interesting!
- The Airborne Inn - everything painted black an nailed to the floor. Plastic glasses in a vain attempt to lessen injuries to patrons and passers by. Groups of hard nut Paras standing around waiting for something to happen.
- A resonable variety of beer on tap in most pubs.
Avoid the Imperial standard.
Fat lezzos run it-a true dump.
- The funky end (formally the easy bar) by the station is a cosy and contempory pub- you walk in there and it doesn't feel like you're in Aldershot- more like a small cenral London bar.
- Don't bother. Go to Guildford. There's less chance of being mugged/abused/vomited on.
- The White Hart, in the 'West End' is actually quite a good little local. Definite football theme, pool table and darts, natives friendly if a little nosey about newcomers.
- The Goose, Yates and Hogshead
- pubs - they are all grotty in Aldershot !!
- All full of juvenile piss'eads. AND SQUADDIES. YES there's still enough left to keep the towns 'good' name and more on the way. sob sob.
Bloody welsh too.
- West End Centre. Any night (except Sunday) the bar is open, unless there's a show on. Every Wednesday there's a free event in the bar. Usually djs, but sometimes bands. Get there early (especially on band nights) 'cos it can get full.
- Duke of York, very nice now. Younger crowd 18 - 27 round one side by pool table, Have monthly discos and karaoke. On the other side mainly older late 20's to god knows and family. But the whole pub is good. Food is great!
- The Rising Sun has to be the best pub in Aldershot at this time, It has excelent
hosts with fun and games happening all the time, Come up and judge for yourself.
- Most of the out of town pubs are great, very friendly and a good laugh. I am 24 and have lived in Aldershot all my life and enjoy going to the Crown in Bagshot Lea but mainly the Cricketers in Tongham. However in the centre The Goose is great as is Yates after a few! ... the music is great. We are mostly a friendly bunch here! The shops are a bit naff but Guildfords just down the road. I can recommend the China Express down Church Lane for th best chinese takeaway or the Superfry for the best fish and chips in town.
- well there OK but the Para's were a pain (love them) I had many a good night
- the town centre is getting very
lively in the evenings.
- A good little boozer is La Fontaine at the junction of Holly Road and Redan Road. Friendly staff and has Pool and Darts. Great food at lunchtimes.
- The West End Centre is a great place. DJ's, Events, Comedy, A licensed Bar, some great totty.
- The Unicorn Grosvenor Road This pub has Friendly Atmosphere And great bar food the sunday lunch just cannot be beaten. And proably some of the highest standard of pool playing around ideal after work for a good wind down and some live sports on the big screen. Also good music events bands discos karaoke etc.
- The Golden Lion is a great pub, great service by Joe and Kay, with great food and great beer, perfect pre and post footie boozing with great entertainment and events during the week. Will always see the local boozer, aka 'Goz' propping up the bar!!
- Queens Head and The Swan both down Norh Lane
are good friendly pubs and not rough.
Wouldn't recommend you drink in the town centre though.
VERY ROUGH.
Bloke got shot in Aldershot pub a few years back!
By far the best family orientated pub in Aldershot is
the Brewers Fair right next to Tescos. Great nosh - great
service and the kids love the ball pond areas. Never
gets rough!
- A good mix, but if you dont like HM Forces then stay out of the obvious military haunts. Also be careful in out of town pubs if your not a local.
- Yates's Wine Lodge arrived in Aldershot in April 1999, moving the Hogshead to second place in the 'best pubs' list. With a dress code, full menu during the day, large selection of expensive drinks and live entertainment on weekends this pub has made the most progress in the last 30 years in the battle to make Aldershot more up-market. Definately establised itself as the best quality place to drink, and although still attracts squaddies and tarts, they are forced to behave themselves!
- Not known for the best pubs in the world being a military town.
- If under the age of 65, avoid the Red Lion. The landlord can't stand young people.
- A quiet word about some pubs in Aldershot. If ANY conversation stops and ANY heads turn as you enter, Apologise, say you entered the wrong door, exit without showing fear and run like Roger Bannister when you get out. I seem to remember that the Rising Sun was far enough away from the military to be alright, but that was four years ago.
- Farnborough has better safer pubs than Aldershot - the Tumbledown Dick on the Farnborough Road is a nice non-squaddie pub not too far from Aldershot, and has bands every Saturday night. Having said that the bands play in "Dicks" - not the best name for a venue in my opinion. But friendly pub, good atmosphere, me, what more could you want? Scary landlady though...
- Duke of York in Lower Farnham Road is reasonable with a fair range of ales and excellent pub grub.
- Golden Lion in Ash Road is a good working man's boozer by day (like the Rising Sun USED to be fifteen years ago) but turns into a bit of poser's pub in the evenings (especially week-ends).
- Hogs Head.....recently revamped....trendy but not full of squaddies or posers ! You won't get glassed or stoned ...but it is a decent pub....opposite the Wellington Centre car park.
- I generally steer clear of Aldershot pubs - but the footie ground has a social club, thats pretty safe - just dont ware a non-aldershot fottie shirt! Not quite Aldershot, but the Greyhound in Ash is a good pub, and its nearby.
- The Duke of York is in Weybourne Road and is one of the only decent pubs in Aldershot despite the fact they allow morris dancers in once a year
- If you are intimidated by broad shouldered squaddies go elsewhere. Otherwise go to the Royal Exchange on High Street, now under new management and good for a boogie. The George Hotel in Victoria Road is a good pub for a quiet one and the bar is reasonably squaddie free. The Hogs Head Brewery is a good mixed civvy / squaddie crowd with excellent female talent ( and male talent so I am told). If you are in anyway airborne (or female and into airborne forces) go to the Bank Emporium oposite the George. It is safe if you are non squaddie, but just have a quiet beer and stay out of the way. If you are pissed and loud you will get decked. Never attempt to pull a woman in here because the blokes are tribal and don't like you messing with their babes.
- Try the bar in the West End Centre when it's open. The squaddies don't ever frequent it.
- The town center pubs can be a bit hairy if you are not in the armed forces but good pubs to try are the Red Lion on Ash Road and The Albion Waterloo Road.
- Best pub in aldershot is the Hogshead! i knew it i was there! "a german parachutist"
- Rough. The further you move away from the centre of Aldershot the better they get. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.
