Still looking for info on a lost relative of my stepfather. Greta Whittall ( nee Emondson) born 1909 Barrow-in-Furness, left or was kicked out of the family home due to a crises not known as my stepfather was only four years old, never heard from or saw her again, knows nothing of her family, just really trying to find what become of his mother during the time she went, her birth certificates sta tes William Edmondson b: 1888 as her father, Angelina Edmondson ( nee Harvey) as mother. 1911 census shows her as an only child at that time aged two, living at 89, Smeaton Street, Cumbria. it is thought that she may have went to London or Scotland, could have remarried had more children whatever. any info would be much appreciated ... more >> Reply

Hi, I am not sure if I have been pinpointed to the right place but i am trying to find some info on my stepfather's mother, her name was/is Greta Edmondson born about March 1909, we think in the Barow-in-furness area of Cumbria/Lancashire, she married a Harold Whittall and they had two children, a boy & a girl, the boy is my stepfather also called Harold, well Greta & Harold divorced when m y stepfather was 4 years old, he & his sister was brought up by their father Harold and an aunt, and they never saw or heard from their mother Greta again, my stepfather is in his 70's now and obviously realises that his mother may no longer be around, but he really would like to try to fill in some of the empty gaps, he wants to know what become of her over the years, she may even have married again, he thinks that she may have moved to the London area, possibly had more children, if anybody can help to fill in some of the missing years of Greta Edomdson for her son, it would be wonderful. Hello, i'm organising an annual dinner meeting for the University of Nottinghams rambling society which is in Ambleside in March, and I need some advice. I think i have a venue for a meal, but we need somewhere to go after. We want to book a village hall or something, somewhere with a bar preferable, and something to entertain us, like a DJ or band. If you could suggest either a place or a DJ/band (any sort of band I'm open to suggestions) I would be very gratefull, especialy if you can tell me how to contact them. I hope you can help me. Looking for anyone connected to William Copley he was Innkeeper at the Golden Rule, Smithy Brow in 1881 he was married to Hannah nee Thompson. They had atleast 3 children Sarah Ann, William Henry and Elizabeth. William Henry married Margaret Ann Nicholson and they had 4 children William Henry, Sarah, Walter and Mary. No one's got anything to say about Ambles ?? Not even hazy eyed memories of Wray Castle or Charlotte Masons, the Sportsman, or Hussein, the landlord from hell ?? I (vaguely) remember Sporties being good fun, if horribly expensive. By far the bestest things have to be A) the students and B) strolling past the shores of Windermere. The worst would be A) the students proud grin and B) parking in the wrong place just before Monsoon. Reply
