- That there are so many weirdos asround Andover it is almost impossible to get bored. Thursdays down town is when they come out, all obese or hunchbacked or grossly mis-shapen. It's grand....I'm sure somebody commented on how strange people's attitudes were around andover and indeed this is true. SOmething you can't place your finger on but it is there...like Royston Vasey....And everybody does know who you've slept with and it is incredibly disconcerting....can be good though if you're a smut peddler like me. I know whose got clam, whos done who, who's beaten who....and I don't evcen try, bet you could make a living peddling gossip.
All in all though you can walk down the street and not worry bout getting mugged. I mean there was some occasion where a tard walked into a bank with a water pistol and demaned money and all the workers were commened on their bravery even though there was a risk that the gun could've contained acid or something (yeah okay, in a plastic gun, battery acid....I'm sure that's likely). And it's pretty easy to talk to people, though a lot of us are knobs. US? I mean them. I wasnt born here honest....
- The old pictures of "Andover in 1900" look very much like "Andover in 2003". Plus people tend to stay there, and I like going back and visiting them.
- The surrounding villages and countryside. The country pubs and the roads out of the town.
- N/A - the place has no redeeming features
- The close proximity of the countryside and the fine local hostelries in many of the villages nearby
- It's good that everyones knows each other as it's a big community.. BUT.. every1 knows evrything about every1!
- The Train Station, Escape!!
- The beer at the Weyhill Fair / Hoggs Head
The food at Siam Orchid / Jade Cottage
- Harvey's sweet shop has a nice selection of sweeties !!
- skating and music and girls
- The churchyard late at night. Everything is close together in the town centre. In recent years, areas around the town centre have been revamped and look really quite nice now (added monuments, shrubs and other features). The area is quite green and pleasant. There are a lot of worse-looking towns! Charlton Lakes are really nice. Also, Andover's on the train line for London and so is only just over one hour to commute to Waterloo.
- Town TV has long gone - thank heavens - they only reported from pubs anyway.
- Great Countryside
- We have the biggest 'Next Interiors' shop in the whole of England-WOW!
- I'm a London overspill Lad lived here for 25 years and I think the wierd city stroke middle of knowhere mentality is pretty cool. Everyone knows you ( or knows someone who slept with you) and you can go out on a saturday night on your own and meet loads of people worthy to call your mates. However, there's no point in coming here with all your designer gear on expecting to impress the local population cos we don't give a shit!!! If you want a laugh then yeah cool, if you want a fight then go somewhere else.
