I am trying to contact a branch of my very large family. My uncle was Herbert (Bert) Brown, married to Phyllis and they lived in Aveley during the 60's and 70's. Their greatest claim to fame might have been that they ran a splendid cafe on the A127 near to the Halfway House - although to be fair, Bert was once a big wheel in civil engineering. Bert and Phyllis are sadly long gone, but they had thr ee children. I can only remember one name - Robert (Bobby). Anyone out there heard of them or their whereabouts? I went to Aveley County Infants School and the Junior School in the late 70's, early 80's and then emigrated to South Africa. I have a twin sister, Fiona and surname was Geelan. Does anybody remember me? I came across this website and thought I'd write in. I had a look at previous postings and seem to remember an Allan Tubby, Daniel Bridges, Glenn Cauldwell and Claire Storey. Are any of these people still in Aveley? What's Aveley like to live in now? I lived in Ship Lane and the last time I was there in 1998 it seemed so much smaller than I remember it but a lovely little village. Can anybody update me on what it's like now? ... more >> Reply
