  • Chase Millers Smiths West Kirk
  • Is it just me or are there an ever increasin amount of pubs closing in Ayr? The Schooner bar near Haddows, the one near Callans auctioneers, the Burns Tavern in river street to name a few.
  • RABBIES
  • Abbotsford Hotel. Looks like an old mans pub, but barstaff usually include a few babes and Friday / Saturday night crowd is usually a mixed bag of ages. Scott's Bar in Troon for a bit of class, but its dearer than the others.
  • West of the Moon, posh and perfect for a party. McArthurs, less posh and right next door. McCabe's, across from the bus station is probably the liveliest pub in Ayr on a weekend, trust me. Get a bus to Glasgow (take an empty McDonalds cup with you) after a drink in McCabes. You can party in the place to be, and do a pee on the bus without raising an eyebrow.
  • Finlay's isn't too bad....O'Sheas is a bit seedy, but meh :) Personally, I like Millers... The Storm is also very good...
  • harleys...fresh as a daisy
  • Rabbies is shocking full of scum, Powerhouse is the worst place in the world, very ugly people go there , no mattter how much you drink still ugly
  • Toby's is now The Four Cats. The Tree House is cools as well. Both excellent for food!!
  • Harleys has been changed to Fury Murray's. Loads of quite decent pubs about ayr - something for every occassion. Some of the hotels combined with pubs in town make for a great beer garden crawl in summertime!!
  • West Kirk's always nice for a Wetherspoons, but they don't get their late license back until October 2004 aparently. Tree House is good too, but the bouncers can be a bit nasty for no reason. Four Cats is OK, but doesn't match up to the legacy of Tobi's. Wellingtons is obviously legendry, Nan the landlady is lovely, and there's usually a pretty friendly. Millers is good, quite slick, and the jukebox is good. The courtyard bar is a bit dodgy, but OK for a stop off between West Kirk closing and the clubs getting going! Liquur Lounge closed down (thank God) and whatever you call the place that opened there in its place is not much better. Dantes is OK if you're already drunk, but the men are both old and sleazy. Harley's is good for music, and pool, and just a stumble away from the House of Power, which is always a bonus. McArthurs and West of the Moon are OK too, specially if you're heading to the Club Too Far. Shaws and O'Brians are lovely friendly wee pubs for after the cinema (or if you miss the first showing) and the Abbotsford is a great old man's pub just out of the centre.
  • Young people that call them selfs moshers drink in harleys, people that listen to the same sort of music but are over 18 drink in millers.
  • mmm..west of the moon...well busy on a saturday nite....stay away from mcabes unless ur about 12...!!!treehouse is good...gets well cramped tho! If u want a good drink afore ye hit the pubs just come down to Northfield to ma mate MC's....they're ll be vino aflowin with some good music too!
  • Harleys is my v.regular hang out, but millers, and drouthy neebors are cool too
  • Smugglers near the harbour has a certain.....character. It's a very old looking place and quite basic but has a friendly atmosphere.
  • Harry's Bar in New Bridge Street was the stuff of legend. Free drinks for all and great music greeted all who entered. All of those fortunate enough to become fall down drunk here remember it fondly. There was also a barmaid who was a real dollybird, Katherine Allan (Harry's Girl). LONG LIVE HARRY'S BAR.
  • Toby's... its really modern, busy and there is one tasty bar guy. I think his name is Chris.... MMMMMM! It's quite expensive but theres double D night which is always a cheap piss up!
  • The best pub in Ayr is without a doubt McArthurs. OK, its a dodgy theme pub, but they've been serving me since I was very fresh faced, and they are clean and the drink is cheep like a budgie. The best bar is also Licker Lounge, formerly elliots, for the same kind of reasons. Except its really quite manky.
  • You may feel that spiritual fulfilment can sometimes be obtained by living or just visiting an environment so insular, so barren and infertile such that your own home town or village starts to shine then try "The Crown Bar" at 177, Main Street in Muirkirk. The conversations will be a combination of social inadequacy since the mines closed, combined with the stark jealously of those who may be doing far better but only in terms of their disposable income.
  • McArthurs, Drouthy Neebors, Treehouse and West Kirk. Only respectable establishments to be seen in.
  • Has to be McArthurs.......... its like Cheers, cos its where everybody knows your name!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • Millers, O'Briens and Harleys are all good - Good drink and great atmosphere. Not a fan of Wellingtons, Billy Bridges or Rabbies - they're a bit drab
  • The best pubs are Licker Lounge, Tobi Zaxx, McArthurs, West Of The Moon and Shaws!
  • Millers bar, O'Briens, Caprice, Harleys (and the Powerhouse upstairs) are all great! Millers and Harleys have pool tables too - and Millers has pinball, 10 pin bowling and laser quest also. McArthurs or West of the Moon are good for all more dancy folk going to Club de Mar and Club 30. Avoid Wellingtons like the plague (annoying barman will spread rumours about you if you get to know him, poor beer, poor atmosphere, bad decor), and the West Kirk (shame that a JD Wetherspoons pub had to have so much bother). Also miss Smugglers, Anchor Bar. Some more bland ones include Geordies byre, The Boathouse, Billy Bridges and Burrowfields (although it has some good beers).
  • The Atlantic Bar, Bonga Wongas and Crystal Quays (Craig Tara) Uncle Billy is your best entertainment but remember to fill your babys bottle with vodka as the prices are sky high.
  • Rabbies? Are you serious? Tattooed, moustached arseholes with their Lyle & Scott jumpers tucked into their Wranglers. Worse than Kilmarnock.
  • The Treehouse or O'Briens or Wotherspoons or West of the Moon or Chapmans or Tam O' Shanter!! Just my favourite haunts!!!!!!
  • Rabbies is now owned by Bellhaven. No more tartan carpets, thank God, but cheaper beer.
  • The Rupee Room Pakora Bar, Sandgate. The Rupee Room's sister establishment, more along the line of a bar/bistro. Go in for a just a drink or sample one their many different types of pakora e.g. haggis pakora, smoked sausage pakora, pork chop pakora... Great food, great atmosphere and great service.
  • Millers is a nice place. Good atmosphere - great staff - fabulous prices!!!
  • Tobi Zaxx - Boswell Park - Great Music at nights.
  • Go to Caprice - it serves great food, has great cocktails, and a nice relaxed atmostphere, its near where beatties is
  • Harleys in Nile court is well good.
  • New pub/resturant opened, in the location of the old Marlin, called The Treehouse. Tam O'Shanter's in the High Street is still good for a laugh and reasonably priced drinks.
  • The Carlton maybe a standard Toby hotel but the staff, location, prices and a good pool table make it all worth while. Not too busy before heading into Ayr.
  • The Boathouse bar has now been taken over and would be a great pub if it wasn't for the really sad crowd that always have to go in their kilts and do a rendition of the Full Monty every time a Hot Chocolate/Tom Jones song comes on. The worst bit is they do go down to nothing (enough to put you off your pint) They are tiresome and past their sell bye date.
  • You forgot to mention the best and busiest pub in the town...RABBIES!! Go here for cheap bevvy and groovy music! Excellent place - don't go to Ayr without checking out this pub. Tartan Carpets, Pictures of Rabbie Burns etc - a true taste of Scotland!
  • Dante's is one of the popular pubs in Ayr. There are quiz nights, and happy hour is well worth the visit (if you can figure out what time it is - it is changed too often) The pub formerly known as "Cafe Bizzare" has lost its cool edge but the new owners are steadily improving its image
  • Dantes if you like the karioke it's on a tuesday
  • Billy Bridges, cheap and rowdy
  • Wellingtons is the best little boozer in town. Just a hop skip and a jump from the sea.
  • O'Briens for the Guinness.
  • Jonesies for the music.
  • Squires for a laugh at drunken tourists - Glaswegian, Irish, English.
  • McArthurs and Toby Zaxx are the most popular pubs in Ayr, due to them being situated next to Club de Mar!
  • The best pubs in Ayr are now: The Boathouse ran by Davie Gibson. Good food and an excellent crowd. Also The Marlin is a very good pub in the Sandgate, again good food though a bit dressy, loud and busy at the weekends.
