Favourite Building in Barnsley, South Yorkshire*
Art deco, contemporary, futuristic, tall, short...
You can tell us more about Barnsley.
Favourite Building
- the chimney at Pot House Hamlet
- BELFRY
- Any decent pub in the area. Not that there are many. Darfield Cricket Club is ok..... Darfield Cons used to be belter.... The Drop in't valley was ok cos they never seemed to shut, but now the proprietor runs the cons, but they shut.... College used to be a right scream too.... The town hall epitomises people of the Barnsley - Gritty, strong, rough on the outside but clean and pure of heart (most people of a certain age are, its the little twats that spoil it).... Cannon Hall is also worthy. Any characterful old building has to be worth something - sadly they're all getting ripped down. Bastard government for you that.
- Jump shelter
- town hall not only is it a barnsley landmark it would be on our postcards if we had any. and for people like me who don,t like wearing a watch it quite handy if you need to no the time.
- theres an new market stall opening on tuesday the 28th of march n there selling music t-shirts and alternative n music jewelry too you should go check it out in the semi indoor!! =D
- The buildings including and around St Mary's Church (near the college) are very pretty examples of good old fashioned building that once went on in Barnsley. The Chronicle shop front is nice and the Drill Hall, shame they don't build them like that anymore!
- Barnsley Town Hall and my house
- The town hall is so pretty, especially on a lovely summers day!
- Fave building is Old College of Technology on Church Street. Gorgeous stained glass windows inside. About to be refurbished. Did you know it was designed by the same architect as the Town Hall so that they would match (handy when they're next door).
- my house is best 1 on street cos i have pride unlike every1 else
- The old Post Office on Regent Street, in which the council are currently part demolishing, apart from the listed parts. They are currently rebuilding a residential site, as the government is trying to promote inner town living to reduce polution, crime etc in our urban centres, although who would like to live on route to the local nightclub? If they want to promote inner living they should promote local shops to let out their upper floors, to reduce the number of historic buildings dilapidating from the top unnoticed, but instead they demolish, typical Barnsley Council!!!!
- mcdoalds unless theres chav kru there man they get all ova these days
- BARNSLEYS OAK WELL IS VERY GOOD ANY 1 WHO SAYES ITS NOT GOT FUCK UR SELFS
- Tarn Hall
- Cannon Hall?
- it would have to be highstone farm across from locke park, i used to have a horse there when i was little and it is still as great as ever
- Town Hall. Ahhh, home.
- civic hall
station rd
royston
much in need of publicity to gain recognition as available for hire and lots of events go on there.
- Metrodome! Best swimming pool ever. Has a space theme to it.
- Yorkshire BS
- boys club
- The Theatre. I fear the plane will fall off and hit me on the head even though I know it's secured on with 14" bolts.
- Cannon Hall
- Honeywell before they builtthat monsterous blue thing on it!
- toss-up between social security building (the big white 1 with reflective windows) cos it has a cool skating car park and the town hall
- I have a couple of fave buildings Priory Campus, Lundwood is a cool community building. The Kendray Resource centre is also great for the community..
- BLACK BULL AT STAIRFOOT SPENT MANY A GR8 NIGHT THERE
- Barnsley Town Hall. Why? - it epitomises Barnsley. Predominantly white but yet still dirty and in need of a good clean.
- the former bhs dept store
huge towering, beautiful purple brickwork.best thing in town.
- BBIC
- The local farms, these are beautifull buildings, full of animalls that remind you of the local population on a night out, particulary then men.
- The old stone houses and business premises on Huddersfield Road are the most beautiful in town
- Tesco's - this building at Stairfoot in Barnsley is giving the local factories and Call centres a run for their money with regards to the number of high flying jobs they are offering to the Barnsley population. Jobs at Tesco are plentiful, Tesco offer mind blowing employment positions like shelf stacking, more shelf stacking and even more shelf stacking, and dont forget till people, plus a variety of mind blowing supervisory jobs. Start work today and have a great future. Excellent rates of pay is paid like £4.50per hour.
- The local factories, these buildings offer the people of Baaaaarrrrnsley high flying jobs like production line workers, the people of Baaaaaarrrrnsley could not live without these places and the stimulating job career that they give to the locals. Baaaarrrrnsley people rush to such places - they love them.
- The Call centres - offer us stimulating employment opportunities, like answering a telephone and talking to somebody, or being a team leader of a team that answer telephones calls and talk to people. These positions require no qualifications and you can can progress with qualifications too. Become a team leader with any A-Levels. All pay GREAT WAGES OF £12'000pa MEGA BUCKS. Please build some more. We could have a football league in this area of Local Factories and Call Centres, even Barnsley FC could play if they wanted to. That would be an Honnour to play against such a team at the standard of Barnsley FC.
- Butterfields!
- Barnsley railway station. It might not be much of a station, but at least it is a starting point for getting away from this uncultured, uncouth, ill-mannered and futureless dump of a town.
- The former student union is a masterpiece.
- Oakwell, thank the lord we have been saved, the greates club in the world, we will
go onto achieve as many trophies in the next 200 years, as we have in the
last 200 years, what a team, what a future, watch out Real Madrid.
- My favourite building is obversley OAKWELL STADIUM beacuse it stands out from many diffrent views and have done well to represent and make our town look and feel great.
- The public toilets in Peel Square, it sums this town up.
- oakwell- the home of bfc, pride of yorkshire
- oakwell, jus hope its there past november.
- my favourite building in tarn is maci d'z!!!!!!!!!!!!!
- The Union Bar, Eastgate
- Oakwell, most pubs, the chippys, are house!
- Co-op building, now being squatted in by Club Hedonism.
- Town Hall, Barnsley College Huddersfield Road site, most of the pubs, Oakwell Stadium and the Metrodome are some of the redeeming features about the town. Oh and Monk Bretton Priory which is of course ruined but is an interesting historical site if you like that sort of thing (don't go there at night though, it tends to be full of druggies and alcoholics after dark).
- Would have been 'the old pavillion' - cos I had my first snog there
- Tarn Hall and Oakwell.
- Co-op building
- The lamproom, the Theatre, Oakwell, Hedonism, Bar One, the old Co-Op buildings and certainly the town hall. Euan.
- The Town Hall is a beautiful building I am really looking forward to coming home to Barnsley to get married there!
Also, not really worth a visit if you're from out of town but it would be great to restore Locke Park Tower, maybe with some lottery funding?
- Jobcentre
- The old Court House Station, now a pub (J.D. Wetherspoon). Where else can you get a bottle of Budweiser or Newcastle Brown Ale for £1.05?
- Mill of the Black Monks (PUB)
