- Arctic Monkeys are playing somewhere in Birdwell in July (05). Forget big bands but smaller venues like Panama JOes or the upstairs room will probably be showcasing the newest dreary EMO or METAL bands.
- Go to Leeds or Sheffield
- Panama Joe's is a great venue for local bands. KGV will start hosting bands from April. Sablesfear is a local band well worth seeing.
- The Upstairs Room, I've seen Catch-it-kebabs there soooo many times. Ringsting were also on there and their drummer is lush!

- The Fealty and Firkin (upstairs) hosts a variety of local bands. Sites like this condemning them as "no hopers" makes it harder for them but they still try. They play every style and have a definate passion for their music. So don't write them off and get out on a friday night!
- Bodegas and Durties among others have some good local bands
- West Green Club
- Mainly happening in sheffield at the arena.
- The Theatre is a boozer well worth a visit. Massive coverted theatre with funny things on the walls and ceiling. It also has bands.
- Hello? In Barnsley?
- Wellington Street.
- Dodgy workintg mens clubs (just think of Vic Reeves' Club Style' of singing)
- You've gotta be having a laugh. The thing about Barnsley is that as it's so close to Sheffield and Leeds, hardly any decent bands play here, so you've usually gotta travel to see a decent band. The Theatre (actually a large pub, formally a theatre) puts on lots of bands, none of them good - however it had a 12 o'clock license the last time I was there. The Civic regularly puts on loads of shite. The student bar has the potential to be good, but the manager's a clueless wanker. Various no-hoper local bands play at a few pubs, but they're normally not worth bothering with. If you fancy a laugh check out the very derivative Full Fathom Five (or Full Fathom Fuck).
