The Best Things
  • The Red River Club serves The Best Food in the World. All cooked by Mavis and very reasonably priced.
  • they build submarines and thats it its crap keep away
  • The shops in barrow like topshop and newlook but it is just discusting don't ever go there!!! Its full of druggies, scrots, murders, and nasty dogs like pitbulls and bulldogs. There are always fights and arguments. My dads a police officer and he never comes home saying he didn't arrest someone. scratty streets eg.junk on the back ally. most people can't be arsed going to work so they are on benifits that we are paying for. So basically we are paying for them to sit on their arses or buying the gorgeous cloths in river island so plese just don't go there...
  • Joshiee Ward :) <3
  • Natasha holland
  • The community spirit in Lord Street, friendly place to be, have you seen the lovely wall paintings in the back streets.. All made lovely for the kids to play there.. Wonderful.... xx
  • Dock museum
  • Barrow main park, but how long will it be when we Neglect it?
  • Night life, women, take away food, people are friendly enough as well.
  • The growing music scene.
  • Music Scene, The Shindig are probably the best band.
  • The bands around here are ace. Watch Torture TV and The Shindig, they're great. The Shindig is the best thing, they're gona put Barrow on the map!
  • TopGear School of Motoring is definitly one of the best driving schools in Barrow. It is the largest independant school in the South Lakes and offers a professional, patient, friendly learning experience with both male and female instructors.
  • Being close to the seaside and lake district
  • There are some friendly people!
  • Barrow is surrounded by coastline, albeit not too safe to swim in, and has the backdrop of mountains. It's untouched by tourism and is absolutely stunning. I've been to a lot of places and I still rank Barrow as being one of the most naturally beautiful places I've ever seen. Did you know has it's own oyster farm? And cringe all you will, the oysters are gorgeous...if you like that sort of thing. It's down near the nature reserve. Peil Island. It has pub and a king. If you go over there, you can be king for a day if you sit in the right chair in the pub. Be warned though, you then have to buy everyone a round.
  • BLUE LAGOON Nightclub, onboard the PRINCESS SELANDIA (then again, I am biased, cos I DJ there!)
  • REACH FOR THE DREAM FILMS... we are indie/amatuer filmmakers from BARROW-IN-FURNESS please check out our website for more info http://www.freewebs.com/reachforthedreamfilms/ here you can view the trailer for our upcoming film and also find out more on how to get to see it we are dedicated and want our films to be seen everywhere and prove anybody is able to REACH FOR THE DREAM thanks brownie!

  • The People a thoroughly charming bunch, except Daltonians
  • Ormsgill ! We don't give a fcuk ! We keep our-selfs to our-selfs but any tit starts sh*t they go down! Like the mardale bum's and the longway smack-rat's We don't let top head's (townies) trot our streets! And we don't have any pr*ck's walkin round with a dog on a metal chain and there cap's pointing up bodding with a strut!! (Ho-mo's)!!
  • nothing apart from if your in need for a good laugh coz there all dossers that dont no fashion rockports n trackies "who wears that"
  • It has not changed in years and if you need to find someone no ones moves so that is easy. Near the lakes and quite a lot of tourist attractions to be seen.
  • goth and indie culture slowly massing. could be a good scene if it continues
  • Freindly People ... Nice Places Visit ... Fishing and Hunting second to none. Good Beaches ... Cheep Boating no mooring charges ... • Barrow Raiders RLFC
  • ME!! and a few of the nice lads
  • There is nothing good about it
  • Smoking genk behind KwikSave.
  • The best thing about Barrow is Cornwallis street. A Street full of niteclubs for all age grups and all different types of music. I love it.
  • People have short tempers and get anyoed very eaisly
  • Why not sit at one of the new benches plug in your head phones sit back and enjoy listening to some good 'Barra' history!
  • ladz definatly
  • Barrow in itself is a good thing, i'm proud to be Barrovian!
  • the best thing about Barrow is that it is the best!no one can deny us of that!ever!!!!so come on over here n try it out for yourself!!!!!!!!!
  • I'VE LIVED IN BARROW ALL MY LIFE AND I DON'T THINK ANYONE SHOULD KNOCK IT!!! CORNWALLIS ISN'T THE ONLY PLACE TO GO! THERE'S THE CINEMA, BOWLING, SHOPPING AND PLACES TO EAT AND YES WE ARE RENOWNED FOR OUR SHIP-BUILDING. SO WE CAN'T BE THAT BAD. CAN WE?
  • The rugby team Shopping in porland walk The people
  • The community. Knowing enough people to always make a link with someone wherever you go, but just big enough to be able to get on with life without everyone knowing about it (provided you don't live in an area where everyone knows everyone's business). The location, right near the sea (especially if you live on Walney), and you can get to the Lakes quickly. If it rains you don't have far to go to get home. Having a history here is a good thing but some people would definitely say it's not. Most people are very friendly. Athough there are some odd-bods - although everyone knows who they are.
  • getting out of there
  • Best - Foot and mouth - keeps the grockles well away
  • The surrounding countryside and the road out and the sea and the geen fields.
  • Barrow is Brill
  • we build the best warships in the world (vsel) john smiths in the brose my mum hollywood park barrow superbowl
  • Meat and Potato Pies
  • The barrow in Furness web site for Ex pats with loads of photos of the town and always kept upto date. Brilliant site. Take a look at it at http://southlakes.cjb.net
  • Lake District on the doorstep. Good coastal scenery around Morcambe Bay.
  • The Walney Massive Bazeye (Barrow Island)
  • Best thing is Barrow AFC they've just won the Unibond League - CHAMPIONS! & they're now one step away from getting back their football league status they unfairly lost in 1972. Barrow will be playing in the Vauxhall Conference this coming season 1998-99
  • Close to the lakes. By the sea. Clean air. Good Northern Hospitaliy.
  • Barrow is improving... new industry is trying to be coaxed in to provide jobs for all of the people VSEL made redundant. There's certainly plaenty of room since the ironworks were demolished!
  • It's got some really nice scenery if you take the time to have a look around.
  • It's very close to the Lake District (sometimes people say it's in the Lake District, but if it is, it's on the border).
  • Walney has a small airfield, so if you can afford it, Manchester Airport isn't too far.
  • The natives (myself included, although strictly speaking I'm a Walneyite not a Barrovian) are friendly and helpful, although there's always a few who aren't, and they tend to be the ones stood outside the night clubs at three in the morning.
  • The best school in Barrow is Parkview
  • [But...] Parkview was never the best school when I was a teenager. It was St. Bernards. And if Parkview is now the best school then it is one of the biggest turn arounds in history (although I might be biased).
  • [Or] The best school in Barrow is Walney Comprehensive with Bob Redhead as headteacher and one of the best special needs centres in Cumbria.
  • The windsurfing is excellent, catering for all standards and wind directions. At Roa Island (near the Concle Inn that you mention) there are three bays between the causeway, Foulney Spit and the main Walney Channel which provide either flat water or bump-&-jump conditions depending on which side you wish to sail - all wind directions are good given some wind! The Irish Sea side of Walney Island (the west coast) provides miles of sandy beach and open sea sailing for those of more adventurous wave orientated nature. The waves are not what could be described as 'clean' though! The main one is Earnsey Bay (I think that is the correct spelling) which is near the airfield which you also mention.
  • The A590 Eastbound (the road out!!)
  • One of the best local Driving schools in Barrow is,in my opinion,Tim Clark Driver Training he offers professional quality training for both theory and practical tests.I highly recommend him as a lot of my colleagues and myself have used Tim's services and are now qualified drivers.
