Skateboarding Spots
  • walney skate park... SSICKK
  • 1)Furness General Hospital is a must, there's three 6-sets all with good sized handrails included, also there is a loading bay around the back. 2)Furness Abbey Handrail, four-set with a good sized handrail (more favoured for goofy footed skaters) 3) Ulverston Skatepark, includes mini ramp w/ extention. There's grind boxes at the flat area too.
  • You could checkout the ormsgill rails! (: There sickk! (:
  • deltawaite is down the road from tesco metro, it is a big ledge and is good for flippin' down and stuff
  • deltawaite ledge is fun for ollies
  • multi storey upstairs, theres wallrides with small gaps. also consider skating morrisons, theres manny pads and semi-waxed curbs. only really good for skating on a sunday, security get pretty pissed at you
  • scottys quarter up by old driving range
  • new skate parks in barrow park and ormsgill
  • there is a new skate park opening in ulveston lightburn park
  • St.bernards has got good slopes and loads of bars 2 grind,Multi-storey car-park,outside the forum, the park, everywhere else is crap
  • the pit behind the custom house theirs a quter pipe and aother ramp + a grinding pole 7/10 mill lane over walney 6 ramps + grinding pole 9/10 vickerstown a few ramps + grinding pole 6/10.collage slopes places to grind 5/10 squares at the top of osbourn st and bottom of blake st 3/10.
  • stollers/asda carpark rails and staircases with rails.slopes to go down.theres curbs and smooth ground for manuals
  • the new skate park over mill lane/walney/theirs more ramps than other parks around.
  • me and my mates skate out at the multi cause it has a good smooth floor ideal for manuals and there's some good waxed curbs plus there is a small set of stairs, the town hall clock car park has a six stair jump with a couple of curbs around it and the majistrates court is a popular spot for boarders (by scott lewis age 12)
  • The magistrates courts has now been skatestopped (now its extremely unaesthetically pleasing, at least the skateboarders made it look fun) and the shack is closed down (due to reopen in april). the supposed skatepark seems to be slipping away as the council don't look like they're too arsed anymore.
  • The once very pristine magistrates courts have been turned into a scummy skate park by the barrovian massive, ie 12 year olds in slipknot hoodies
  • St Bernards School, The Pit, random carparks, like Tescos and the multi by the town hall.
  • kates skates shop.....to a non-boarder thats all i know......offical park soon to open though:)
  • barrow park used to hae a good skateboard ramp till it got wrecked. alot of people use stollers car park now
  • CCC Community Development are leading the new skatepark project. there is gonna be a concrete skatepark park on the old BAE West Shop site, behind Waterside House soon!
  • The Shack is the koolest place around here.
  • ANY ODD KERB ON PARK AV
  • in front of the town hall if you can avoid getting caught. matalan
  • Dont Know it's name Oppisit the 99 club in Dalkeith Street
  • The Multi storey car park - wall rides everywhere, waxed manual-pad/island thing. Sloped curb on car ramp with ledge. ((Townie factor Sometimes its a ghost town then others (thursday night) its brimming with tracksuit wearing inbreeds with speech impediments 7/10)) TownHall - steps outside the forum some benches. Townie factor 6/10 The Courts - waxed curbs manny pads. DO NOT SKATE DURING working hours, it does nothing but give us bad reputation, prohibited signs are already up, take notice! Townie factor 3/10. Macdonalds handrails- Really fun if you can skate them, nice, fat and long just like 411vm. Townie factor 4/10. The Pit / Vickers town - sheet metal skate ramps - pretty shit. Designed by professional pie heads. Extremly dangerous to skate due to bad design. If you love to lose chunks of skin on the smallest of falls, then these are for you. Townie factor 9/10. Morrisons - waxed combi-manual curbs The big M were quick on the uptake of their new superstore, all the stair sets are skate stopped. Townie factor 1/10 Tesco - smallish gap by the recycling center with waxed curbs about. The surrounding areas are great for diy ramps, theres usually bread crates and wood out the back of halfords, remember to put it all back after you've skated, we're so close to being banned. Townie factor 5/10 ChannalSide Haven / Dock Museum - channelside has some really good ledges but are never waxed good enough but are quite fun all the same. Down the bike path towards the museum is the black rails. Theres a nice straight one and a few big curled ones... Townie factor 2/10. Furness college / Furness gate industrial area - theres an assortment of things to skate but its all spread out mostly gaps and wall rides the workshop apprentices at the college usually leave a load of ramp material out so keep an eye out for that. Townie factor 1/10. St Bernards School. Has one of the best natural rolling banks in the country as featured in Sidewalk (including a certain hometown hero skating the sixthform next door). Theres a double set near gym up the back theres the rail set which has sketchy run up and then there is the other set by the main hall that has a sloped ledge next to it. And don't forget the two step manual pad by the science block. Theres also some metal benches too. ((If you do go to skate this place, try and keep a low profile. In the past four years there has been vandalism, broken legs and a new head teacher to boot. And it hasn't helped us one bit, and has become a bit of a bust in recent years. So don't be a prick and mess it all up for us all!!)) (Townie factor 1/10) Sixth Form College - a four set and a six set with high handrail (front boarded by the melon in sidewalk a couple of years ago), theres a bank to curb round the back and some rough brick ledges thats about it. (Townie factor 1/10) Barrow Park - The mini ramp used to be cool but its now history. Anyway theres hills to be bombed, try the lane behind the old park keepers house, it finishes by the steps of the round band stand, great fun! Theres lots of stair sets dotted all about one has a great big roll in. (Townie factor 9/10, 10 in the summer holidays) The shack - local ghetto park, opened its doors around 2001 used to be the biggest indoor park in the uk and was frequented by passing pro's on tour. Not anymore but is a good place to skate none the less, a friendly hangout (usually). Take a look http://geocities.com/slackerskateboards/shack.html (townies mill about the banger racing down the bottom end max power and all that) Lydl - some steps and diy ramps round the back if theres materials. Hospital - rails 3 stair sets with good sized raisl. (security till 8pm) St georges primary school - bigish set of stairs with a good sized rail. (cleaning ladies 3/10) The Alfred Barrow School - the barrow biggie smalls four set, thats hardly ever skated but its there. Townie factor 5/10. Furness abbey rail - really out of the way but its there, if you do decide to try and skate this do it when the museum is shut last thing we want to see is "Vandal skateboarders skate historic site!" in the paper. (ghost factor 6/10) The snail pit - This is a secret spot. Select locals and guests only! We take our surfing seriously! (seagull factor 10/10) Locals private ramps - Skating local ramps is like being in a gun club. They're very hard to get a licence for. Its a friend of a friend deal. If you are in town you might get lucky. Newbarns school - a very mellow flat bank with steel benches and small gaps (PE teacher factor 3/10) Debenhams rail - Extremly badass rail down a steep 11 set, abandon hope all ye try. So far all its seen is a bung on board slide, that nearly killed the melon. (Kebab factor 10+/10)
  • my Bro always went round back od barrow baths, think its knocked down now?!
  • Check out Slacker Skateboards. A site for the barrow skateboarding scene, updated regularly with articles, reviews, pics and video. http//www.geocities.com/slackerskateboards Slacker Skateboards
  • The shack i have heard is very good for those skater kids
  • The rink
  • the pit behind the custom house isnt too bad
  • the shack is the only skateparck the rest are long gone its £3.00 to get in ask at kateskates for directions.the multy story car pparck is cool with loads of waxed curbs ignore the 24 hour servalance sighns threre a load of rubbish.
  • outside tha magistrates seems 2 b pretty popular
  • The Shack, Salthouse Mills Tesco carpark
  • absolutly sod all, the pavements are so uneven u cant even skate on them!
  • Umm.. there is nowhere :( GET A BLOODY SKATEPARK! Kates Skates suck. The quarterpipe at Vickerstown barely fits a skateboard on and skating up town just causes agro.
  • katesskates, but if you dont wanna go there then hollywood park and the town squre (by the town hall) are good for grinding and jumps.
  • Not being a skateboarder all I can do is point out the new ramp, which seems quite small, on Walney at the newly re-vamped Vickerstown Park. It seems to be quite well-used.
  • The Rink in Dalkeith Street. Small skatepark for skaters and skateboarders.
  • Old indoor ramp park is gone. What about the public ones? There used to be a couple in the park just to your right as you hit Walney Island, but they're long gone.
