If you're around, be sure to check these things out
You can tell us more about Basildon.
The Best Things
- there are none i hate it
- Dan's House
- it's fun - people know eachother!
- Most of the people are nice and friendly, unfortunatly the minority are not, and thats all you hear about in Basildon.
- 20 years ago the girls were so lose withethere bodies unreal time of my life,
ps it hasse"nt changed then?
- As a kid/teen Bas is ok. You grow up reasonably streetwise and lots of friends etc as its densly populated but once you hit 18 you gotta question why you would wanna stay there.
- Between MOST of the residents there is a real community spirit! Huge amounts of cheap shops (Primark, QD, Wilkinson, ASDA, poundland, 99p store...need I go on) to satisfy the tight purse strings of us Basildonions!
- Most of the public see basildon as the hang out for "yobs" and "rift rats" But its not like that. The shoppers are kind pleasent people and the kids are there SHOPPING! Its bigger than southend and the shops are tartgeted for teens! The nightlife is fantastic so go down there and party!!!
- fast food joints everywhere, not that many immegrants here in basildon (ohh crap now everyone knows) close to london, easy getting to venues like the astoria etc. lots of green, trees and crap you know what i mean, the town centre when its school time coz there hardly any annoying little school kid there.more police on the streets....
- The sense of humour and resilience of Basildon residents - they're always on the receiving end of a lot of flak from the national press and non-residents, but as most of it's untrue, they manage to laugh it off.
- The A13- This takes you out of Basildon.
- the fields behind my house
- festival leisure park
- Knowing that there are honest people in Basildon, because I read an article in the Daily Mail stating that out of I think ten european town centers or cities ten wallets were left in prominent places and BASILDON handed in Nine wallets with all contents in. The other cities averaged three to four!
- Baz has an overwhelming majority of genuinely good & friendly working class English people.
- Limit skate shop, the square, HMV orders albums very quickly, Virgin has friendly staff,
- st martins square
- DOUBLE LOCKING MY FRONT DOOR AT NIGHT
- Pitsea Infants School
- Allders. The Festival Leisure Park. The well lit streets and cycle paths that are great to run along safely even in the dark.
- the yellow slide game. a game that will soon be at the olympics.
- Best thing to come out of Basildon?....The A127!
- Ikon, Festival leisure park and Northlands Park!
- Noak Bridge takes a giant step forward and makes history in Basildon in May 2002 when it will elect its very own Parish Council from a list of worthy candidates. Watch this space.
- you can usually find whatever it is your looking for, its no worse than any other place in Great Britain, in many circumstances its a lot better ,
life, and your own community is what you make it
- The markets, Basildon /Pitsea, where I live now our market consists of about 7 stalls :-( the people, s friendly, and downto earth !! The shopping centers / Clubs, loved Divas when visited in Easter !!
- the best time i had was in 84 (i think)singing feed the world and jumping in the fountain in the square at christmas time and beating up the old bill!! now that was a riot.
- Lots of adult education to teach us to use the internet and visit these lovely sites!!!!
- Location / Transport Links / Countryside / people
- The best thing about Basildon is of course not being there.
- The best thing about Basildon was when I moved away from the place! The only thing I miss about Basildon is my family and Club Kingswood, which is the best fitness club I have been a member of.
- If you love being burgled, this is THE place to live
- Close to London, the seaside, airport and ferry terminals (should you want to leave that is!)
- I dont know how everybody can slag off Basildon, Ive only lived here for 20 years, but theres everything you need here. youve got clubs, pubs, lots of shops cheap ones and dear ones, pitsea market, parks ect ect.
People get houses here fairly easily from the council. Try living in other towns and youll realise how good Basildon is.
- US GIRLS, IT COMES TO THOSE WHO WAIT, SO REMEMBER THAT BOYZ WHEN YOUR OUT ON THE TOWN
- Noak Bridge is now elevated to one of the best things in the district, honest.
- Although Bas. has been much ridiculed over the years I,as one who was born there and brought up nearby, can honestly say I love it. I love the vibrancy, the hustle and bustle and the nightlife, and although it has it's problems I think it's one of the best cities I've been to in the UK.
The City Centre has great shops and is more attractive thanks to investment. I reckon it should apply to host the next Olympics(Well, maybe not!)
- The best things....no matter where I been....Im always glad to come home, because its my home, after 24 years...its changed a lot, there are some nice points, you just have to find them and give it a chance
- I used to live in Gaynesford as a child (1973-1984) and my parents garden used to back onto a huge expanse of countryside which stretched beyond Lee Chapel Lane, all the way to Dry Street. We used to call the artificial hill in Gaynesford the Mud Hill and used to go sledging on it.
- It's near London
- The best view of Basildon is in your rear view mirror
- There aren't any!
- The absolutely huge Tesco Extra at Pitsea - you name it, they've got it! (and it's open from 8:00am - midnight Monday - Saturday including the Post Office!)
- The excellent road and rail links that can get you out of Basildon!
- If you're into horses, try a visit to the Essex Horse & Pony Protection Society in Pitsea (just behind the Railway station). It's open to the Public on Sundays.
- All those smiling happy go lucky, employed, inteligent, family kind of people.
- Jumping in a car and go round town looking for places to skate. I'm tellling you: if you have a car this town rules for street skating.
- Jumping in the Fountain at The Town Gate.
- Good transport links by roadand rail to London, Southend on Sea and across the Queen Elizabeth Bridge in to Kent and on to the Continent. Ten minutes from the M25 which links with the rest of the motorway and therefore country network.
- Lots of green, open speces. Nice woodland. Cheap Housing. Good shopping and easy access to even more shops at the huge site at lakeside, Thurrock and to London.
- Within easy commuting distance to London.
- Has a large theatre (if you like that sort of thing).
- A mixture of ages: old, young and middle aged.
