Where to go to get down
You can tell us more about Basildon.
Clubs (Dance Music) and Music Bars
- bas-vegas clearly the best place to be in basildon! if u fany a lil RnB then ignite is ur place. Lava is good if you dont fancy baby sitting the youngens! Chicago's is always such a feel good night, all ages, and alwas feels like yo've been invited to a party!!
- ikon love it!!! best place for under 18s and some pengaleng boys!!
- Ikon well at times it cn be bear good and the music is just brilliant but some times it cn really let u done with the music
- There is nothing in Basildon, unless for some reason you find yourself so drunk or confused that you find yourself at Bas-Vagas in which case Ignite and Lava are particually dull, but Jumpin Jacks isn't too bad...
- Bas Vegas rocks!!
- For the best, pink toothbrush in Rayleigh, but in Basildon Colors, the gay bar is ok if you can deal with sometimes having homophobes outside as you leave, Jacs over festival is OK, the rest (Lava, Ignite, Bonds, Chicagos) are mainly RnB. Got a good 60's bar also called (original, eh?) Back to the Sixties.
- I have a Question: Im coming back to Basildon for a 2 week trip in early Oct 2005..my friends have set up a night at CHICAGO's in basildon's "festival leisure park" what is this place like..and can I get in with clean black jeans on and a decent shirt? Also if anyone has the tel# for this place I would love to have it... thanks.
I remember Raquels (20+ yrs ago)..got laid in the bathroom there!, ahhh the memories, thats why Im coming back = ESSEX GIRLS!, see ya all in 2 weeks ladies.
- ermm u got all of em up at festival leisure park, but underage peeps tryin to get in, beware!! they are wel strict on ID up ther, but is good atmosphere most the time, do get few fights as you would anywher, but all good. go to the hungry horse pub in laindon for few drinks!!!!!!!!
- I've just been invited to Ikon and Diva in Basildon, but after reading these comments I won't be going. Sounds like a dump!!!!
- Jumpin Jacs over Bas Vegas- fantastic atmos, good music and age range.
- dont do clubs, it filled with dick head rude boys and trendies
- festival leisure,faces
- ikon
- Jumpin' jaks is the best place to be at the moment, ikon n bonds gettin a lil scary cos of the whole gun inncident! with thursday's the 'student' night and sundays jst being a good time to go as its not all packed out, however at the moment its buy 1 get 1 free in jaks but its on full price drink not the usual £1.50 for a VK! the new offer excludes red bull!
- Time has been closed down but is reopening on 31/10/2003 and will be called Faces(Probably want be be as good as it was before the clubs on Festival leasure park opened, any one remember the DJ Barry Beavis). Dont go to Colours unless you are a sausage jocky.
- jaks in fesival is wicked-espesh on a sunday u'll see me and my mates down there then. we're the loud and proud lot in the middle!
- Ikon, jumpin jacks, the square, divas, time, erm thats all i go to lol
- "Chicago Cock Cafe" at "Bas Vegas" is far too well lit, which means that you can't overcome inhibitions as much as you would in the terrifying "Jaks" and you may just be able to get served your second drink of the night just before closing time but only if you get there by at least 8pm (the previous night). The panoramic windows offer a spectacular veiw of the vast car park where you can witness fights from the comfort of a slightly moist armchair.
- "Festering Leisure Park" is the Basildon equivalent of Dante's 'Inferno'. It really is a godforsaken hell hole, its ghastly flashing lights atop the Ikon/Diva komplex seen to herald the apocalypse. Once I'm there, its like I'm possesed by some evil demon.. I get stripped of my money and my dignity. "Jumping Jacks" is actually named after the infamous 18th/19th(I think!) century enigma: SPRING HEELED JACK who was some sort of monster who went around terrorising the community, and leaping dozens of feet in to the air to evade capture. He was a freakin' maniac and anyone who saw him would be puking for days due to his startling hideousness. It's only right that this satanic theme bar should be named after such a nutter.
- JUMPIN' JAX ON A SATURDAY NIGHT! How the gibbons scream! I tell you what though, all the HUNKS in that place want to snog me...
- Jaks is the place to be for a mad night out. Wednesays and Sundays are the best with cheesy music, cheap alchohol and a generous amount of fit guys and girls on the pull!
- All the clubs are awful overcommercialised.
as of jan 2002 the attitude is getting worse and its becoming a haven for trouble.
Ikon - garage+trouble
Diva - over 25's and trouble
Jumping Jaks - party - not to much trouble
- Im 14 and go to Ikon its on every other Monday its sooo good! They have resident DJ- Bad boy Glen, hose a bit of a Big head! But guests like Dj Vapour.I go wid my m8s evry time & we always have a laugh, there strict on Drinkin & smokin and ur searched on Entry but theres sucha good atmosphere no1 cares! Also Time by the Market, bt i havnt bin der 4 ages lst time I went it was ok played Garage, RnB and bita dance! Not as good as Garage though!
- Jumpin' jaks is the bomb. its the best place in basildon to go for a good night out! cheese is played such as the YMCA and boom shake the room!! but there is also alot of party, pop and garage played! fun for all, and a stage surrouded by cameras so you are seen all round the club! TOP NITE!!!!
- the mecca or raquels as it became known was a great place for a beer, fight, and pulling the girls (who were all up for it)
- colours, square, jumping jacks,
- If you fancy dodging the flying beer bottles on a Saturday night, then the Festival Leisure park is the place to be. Just make sure your on your way b4 the clubs kick out(OFF!) !!!!
- The infamous 'Raquels' where Leah Betts scored her drugs from. Which is now shut down, because it was the dodgeiest club ever. I actually got given forged bank notes there and was thrown out for complaining. Mind you it was better than getting a kicking from the bouncers (who were all dodgy as fuck)
- Unfortunatley, if you're alternative, you won,t be very well catered for here. The Pink Toothbrush in Rayleigh is cool though.
- All above out of date.Take it from someone who lives there.Raquels/Europa - no longer,Time better than it used to be,Ikon very young at all times but Diva mixed and varied with better atmosphere.Yates and Towngate pub recently opened good food and atmosphere. No place is fantastic - try Quilters in Billericay.
- IKON, DIVA, JAKS, ZEROS, TOTS, ANYWHERE THAT WILL LET US UNDERAGE CHICKS IN!
- I thought Jumpin' Jaks was cool, only been a few times, but always seems to give off a friendly atmosphere, especially on the seventies night, everyones too busy jiving to bother with the fights..! Its quite cheap too,as for clubs, theres Time, but I wouldnt bother,Raquels was good in its day,now its closed down, apparently,Icon and Diva are reasonably good.
- time
ikon
- Two new clubs are open in basildon,Ikon which has a nappy night every 3rd monday and jumpin jaks. They are both located at festival leisure park which also has Mcdonalds, pizza hut,uci cinema,TGI fridays and a hollywood bowl.
- Got to be Jumping Jacks for nightlife. Any excuse for me and my mates to escape from the missus for a night out. Beer, music, mad boogie on the dancefloor strutting our stuff and showing the youngsters how it's done, and bargirls that wear those skimpy tops...marvellous!
- Monroes, Time
- Time Discotheque, near the market. On Tuesday night you'll find half the population of Basildon's youth here at 'Ouch' night, where many of who get drunk beforehand and where you will find many underage smokers who are about 11 or 12. Ikon, Festival Leisure Park. Once a month under 18's night where people come from everywhere for just three hours of insanity.
- Time is rubbish, but there's four new Nightclubs at Festival Hall
- Three new clubs in the leisure park to the north of the town centre. Diva and two others.
- We now have a huge leisure park between Basildon and Pitsea which includes two new clubs Icon for all you housey garagey ravey people and Diva which is over 25's and is old style club with a bit of ABBA thrown in for good measure
- Raquels (renamed as Club Europa) has shut down due to low amount of people attending. Time still busy although not for the hardend clubber, plays mainly popular dance music. Two new night clubs are to open, each catering for different ages and tastes on the new Basildon leisure park.
- No: this town sucks. Only Rachels stands out and that really bites.
- Time is a good club, but Raquel's is crap and was shut the last time I was in Basildon.
Raquels has been renamed and reopened. This is the place where Leah Betts bought her ectasy and then died from adverse reactions - apparently they have sorted out their act now. The alternative, just over the road is called "Time". - See past entries-not many. Mostly crap and populated by Sharon and Tracey.
- The clubs in Basildon aren't worth a light - if you're an Indie freak, try The Pink Toothbrush in Rayleigh (about £25 return in a cab) - very dark & dingy, and no bitching.
- Hey Raquels isnt that bad if your young enough. The WHO played there when it was owned by Mecca. If your hip and trendy you still call it the mecca
