Live Music Venues in Basildon, Essex*

Live sounds in a garage, pub, park or stadium

You can tell us more about Basildon.

Live Music Venues
  • The Towngate has now got an entertainment manager who is activley promoting live bands and Rock Nights. Live Bands play there most saturday nights now and some big local names have been lined up(hedgehog etc). Since the demise of the castlemaine in Laindon it now looks like this place is willing to pick up where they left off and take it to a higher level.Dark days are hopefully going to be their resident dj and from the sounds of their 1st gig man that was heavy. So apart from the "brush" this place is gonna have little competition for the alternative scene.
  • Castlemaine Pub... well they have live music... sometimes...
  • Erm- Castlemaine Pub, thats OK for gigs.
  • The Roundhouse on the main roundabout to town was a unique venue . The Castlemayne pub used to have cover bands etc think it still does.
  • Castle Maine Pub, Thursday nights. Other nights too.
  • The Castle Mayne on a Thursday used to be good. It was worth paying over the odds for a pint just to watch Lounger play. I could never understand why that band where never signed! (maybe there where)
  • The Castlemayne is probably the ONLY venue now in Basildon for live bands. Avoid the SLIPKNOT, KORN wannabes on a thursday night though!!
  • Listen out for the screaming Gibbons at the castlemain on a thursday night... And watch out for that big BAD wolf on the roof who has been in the War.
  • THe Roof Gardens used to be a great pub to see live bands, nowadays The Castlemayne has fairly good local cover bands on Saturdays. Avoid the Limp Biskit and Slipknot wannabes/ student night on a thursday though
  • The basildon center
  • The Castlemayne in The Knares has the odd good band, but the beer is crap!
  • Towngate theatre.(Not very good, though.) The decent ones are mostly in Southend or Chelmsford
  • Towngate Theatre - closed from Aug '98 due to non-payment of VAT.
  • The nightclubs sometimes have live music.
  • The CastleMayne Pub has live music on Fridays and Satursdays and is well worth a visit. The roof Gardens in the town centre also has live bands.
  • The Pink Toothbrush in Rayleigh is a bit of a taxi ride but well worth it for up and coming indie bands.
  • Roundacre.
  • The best is the 'Pink Toothbrush', not in Basildon but down the road in Rayleigh.
  • The Towngate Theatre generally has local bands on Fridays/Saturdays. Covers Bands appear at The Roof Gardens in the Town Square on a Saturday, and also at The Castle Mayne in The Knares.
  • Towngate Theatre sometime give local bands a break, always a good night in the bar anyhow
