You can tell us more about Basildon.

The Stuff We Can't Fit In Somewhere Else
  • Basildon is Basildon .... deal with it, it wont change for no one , not even the governement ..... or police... for that matter
  • Got the bowling alley and quaser up at Basildon bowl and a good Bowling center over Festival.
  • i think essex people are a bunch of twats and also swing in the wrong direction. a good example is tom moreton who is experienced in this field of GB, (Gender Bender).
  • Read the book essex boys about the guys who were shot in their range rover in a gang feud then tour Bas and look at all the places mentioned in the book.
  • I would just like to point out that not all of Basildon is filled with illiterate, overweight, single mothers with no ambition in life apart from filling out in their social security questionnaires correctly, as I certainly do not fall within this category, and yes I am the one who looks down my nose at the rest of you with your cheap shoes and market clothes and snot nosed little babies, take some pride, get a job! Basildon the place to have all the life sucked out of you.
  • Noak Bridge is not a village and having a Parish Council is not something to be proud of. It just adds to the council tax bill and makes some residents feel important. My family have lived in Noak Bridge since 1981 when everyone who lived there had just escaped from the falling down council estate behind Laindon Shopping Centre. It's just a shame that some people think the term village adds value to their properties. Noak Bridge is also NOT in Billericay as some self titled 'villagers' insist.
  • Shithead kids bowling round like they own the world but cry if they get chucked out of HMV for trying to front up to the security!
  • ? not sure what to put here
  • not much to say really its basildon.could do worse
  • eveyone dissis basildon-all i can say is dont diss it till youve tryed it. if you used to live here you should be proud not cussin it. i wanna move away but i will make sure everyone knows im from sunny sunny basildon. its a wicked place most people are more laid back here-and im not jus talkin about the people coked up we just have a greater oppinion on life and are not so narrow minded. REMEMBER UR ROOTS PEEPS- EVEN IF U DO WANNA F...K OFF!!!
  • Vange
  • Basildon does not deserve the pee-taking it gets. OK, it is not an amazing place that atttracts tourists and curiosity seekers. That job is left to LOndon. As a new town it has built up over the last 50 years into a place with good seats of learning, sports clubs, numerous shops and restuarants and a strong ID. Basildon is a 'real' place, and by that I mean: it is a place where people live, work and study. It is a self contained town with great facilities and a good mixture of countryside and town-scape. People in Basildon are nearly all very friendly, good, hardworking people. My family included. Despite being the but of many jokes, Basildon folk are resilient and clever. In fact Basildon is such a good place that I moved to London four years ago.
  • Noak Bridge and Steeple View areas are NOT villages, as their residents like to imagine. They are suburbs of Basildon New Town, joined up and tacked on by housing estates. So there.
  • Id like to say theat refering to the person whop dubbedBasildon as full of the "Typical Tracy & Sharions" Theyre wrong! Yeah there are some but there are rough places everywhere, Manchester, Birmingham, London, Surrey and Devon. Basildon needs to loose this stereotype! There are good honest caring people who work hard and have lovely houses (Some worth a fortune! In the millions sometimes!)letos and so what if they do they might b a really nice person!
  • ryan neale ofte visits there!!!! - got to be worth a nite out now ladies
  • Have to say, after 22 years in the place I think it is a good place to live. Within easy reach of London, but with nice country parks and relatively modern housing. Basildon....... ITS GREEEAAAT !!!
  • A Scummy town rating would be good. I'd give basildon an 8/10
  • BLAH, BLAH BLAH
  • I haven't lived in Basildon for 6 years after having lived there for nearly thirty years. I must agree with most people in saying that it has sen better days but just reading about the things other people have said does make me a bit homesick. I suppose it's true (to paraphrase): - "You can take the boy out of Basildon, but you can't take Basildon out of the buy"
  • Has anyone seen Ron Moxley around lately ex Soldier and famous DJ.Before retiring was in charge of quality control in Ford Motor Co.Nowdays he is in control of the quality of life in and around Basildon he keeps in constant touch with goverment bodies up to the Houses of Parliment and No 10 by regular letters.Well known and used to frequent most of the top pubs and eating places in the area and was a great believer in royalty and hereditary peers and was himself known as lord of the manor where is he now we have not seen him since his world trip to Australia ? We need him for the leader of our next carnival..
  • The best place to go get pissed and get away from Basildon is under the pier in Southend.Watch out for trains passing over the top,its scares the shit out of you if youre pissed.
  • Once I almost switched onto the wrong bus at the Basildon shopping centre's confusing bus terminal!
  • Basildon Hospital is one of the best hospitals there is!
  • Aside from the fact that Bsildon has roughly no night-life (except for Time and the one already mentioned), it is important to remember that there is no mini-bowl, and the full bowling is VERY expensive. They charge a fee just for the opportunity to pay them some more money. The Quasar is OK, but remember that some of the poorest estates in the area voted Tory, and got David Amess into Parliament. Crime rates are high, and Eastgate Shopping Centre is a disgusting orange colour, although they are redecorating it by removing all of the escalators, doors, windows and skylights, and making it smell of paint stripper.
  • Yes it is a dive, I was born here and have just moved back after leaving when I was seventeen twenty-two years ago. But there are a few corners of note. The outside types will love Langdon Hills followed by a pint or six at the Crown. Then there is... um! OK when I think of more I will return... it can't be that bad can it (what have I done?)
  • Basildon now has a Labour Govt. (Election 1997).
  • The new festival leisure complex also features a brand new bowling alley!
  • Don't knock Basildon because everyone else does. I live in Glasgow and I still Like to come home
