You can tell us more about Basingstoke.

Cinemas
  • Vue Cinemas (Festival Place) or Odeon (Leisure Park)
  • two vues now one in festival the other at the lesiure park
  • just updating on the cinema section, a cinema called ser century opened in october 2002. if you want more leg room, better seats and bigger screens pluss helpfull staff, why not take a visit to ster. its a lot better then the vue cinemas in basingstoke. ster is easy to locate, near to all the resturants in town centre
  • Ster century in the festival place basingstoke and VUE cinema (formaly warner bros) in the leisure park.
  • Fetsival place is only good one
  • just go to ster century in festival place thats all im saying avoid warner.
  • The manager of the Basingstoke Ster Cinema told me just after opening that there is no way he would show any film which was featured in the Guardian Weekend Guide as being a 'good film' to see. Judging on past performance both cinema complexes show exactly the same films at the same time and there is no room for anything remotely arty or left field.
  • A new multi screen cinema has opened. This is part of the town centre re-devolpment( Festival Place ).
  • New Ster Century 10 screen opened Oct 2002
  • Can't wait for the new one to open! Walking three miles to stand knee deep in old popcorn waiting for an hour for someone to decide to open the doors at the Warners just ain't my idea of fun!
  • new cinema coming soon with seats like armchairs!! that will probably be ruined too though within 6 months!
  • the warner brothers cinema and the wessex superbowl bowling alley are decent
  • theres only the warner village
  • Soon will be 2 in town, warner village with 10 screens and yukky smelling and unclean seats in the "theatre" floors awfully sticky.Overpriced sweet shop there and half toilets are outoforder de to non existant cleaners. If you want a good cinema go to the Reading rivermead NEW and really large, with clean floor and massive screens
  • well, a cinema is a cinema. It has about 10 screens i think, easy to get to on a bus from the main town if you're with intelligent people. . . .
  • The Warner Bros multiplex - excellent place to see Hollywood movies. Especially if you want to see the same movie on more than one screen...
  • The Cinema was fantastic when it opened, the novelty wears off after a while though - A cinema is a cinema right?
  • Warner Village is alright but very expensive and only shows mainstream films. My parents go to the Anvil a lot though to see less mainstream stuff. I now live in Sheffield which has the largest independent cinema outside London, and so coming back to my home town is pretty disappointing. We need a Virgin- comfy seats, good selection of films.
  • We have a 10-screen Warner Bros which is alright and we're also going to have another 10-screen in the new town centre. 20-screens to choose from? Just hope the choise is quite diverse and they show some underground films. The Anvil also shows some films.
  • There was a cinema at Boundary Hall years ago, however it closed down when the big Warner Brothers complex opened at Basingstoke. The only reason the building is still standing is because the Scouts still use the hall next door. No doubt this will go too when Tesco's finally build their new store on the old M.O.D land next door...
  • Desolate leisure complex to the west has cinema, ice-rink, gym, etc.
  • Bring back the Cannon!
  • Warner Brother is crap, and only shows Hollywood Blockbusters, although the Anvil isn't bad for less mainstream films.
  • Big Warner 'cineplex'. Can't complain, as good as any of them.
