Corner eateries, quick bites and the local chippy

You can tell us more about Battle.

Cheap Food
  • Good food at a good price, freshly cooked can be found at the Chequers Inn, Great value for money, nice and friendly place for a meal and a pint.
  • Pilgrims Rest. It has changed hands! Only restauarant in Battle to be included in the Good Food Guide. Staff are young and very friendly but sadly no more kinky uniforms. All customers welcome - no dresscode ... just be polite to the staff and they will give you great service. Building revamped - great mix of antique and modern. As to customers - great mix. Finally, Murray Young holds a monthly evening. Is this Battle meets Soho?
  • Taylors fish chip shop in the high street is run by some very polite chinese people, and offers the very best fish and chips in the area (including the Blue Dolphin)
  • Simply Italian, as long as you like the more comershial side of italian grub! most pubs do ok grub if your really hungry!
  • Your food comments must be twenty years old. There are two good Italian Restaurants, and excellent Indian Restaurant a French Restaurant and a Wine Bar. Two supermarkets. Lots of pubs do food. There is famous 'The Food Rooms' which sells local and imported high quality produce and has an excellent Restaurant also. And there are regular farmer's markets. Nobody in their right mind would go to the local Macdonalds.
  • An Indian where the waiter used to outsprint you to open the door for you. He can't be arsed anymore. A chippy where the fat can never be re-used enough. Positanos and the BLacksmiths. Both serve palatable grub but get a bank loan first.
  • budgens and alldays for snacks...theres a chippy in the highstreet
