Pubs in Beaconsfield, Buckinghamshire*

The place to go for a lazy afternoon, pub quiz or last call

You can tell us more about Beaconsfield.

Pubs
  • The Red Lion in Knotty Green is easily the #1 pub in the Beaconsfield area. Web: www.redlionweb.com
  • The Red Lion pub in Knotty Green is probably the best pub in the area - one of the last traditional hostelries... now that all the others have been turned into restaurants of one kind or another. There's a new landlady there now too - a proper local of the kind that's all too hard to come by nowadays. The best.
  • The best pub in Beaconsfield is the Red Lion in Penn Road, Knotty Green - see http://www.redlionweb.com
  • There are no good pubs in Beaconsfield, they are on a scale of awful (Bar Med, Saracens Head) to somewhat bearable (Charles Dickens, Greyhound). If you want good beer, decent pub food and quiet conversation you won't find it in Beaconsfield.
  • Red Lion in Knotty Green is excellent, friendly and may I say it does the occasional late! Royal Standard is great for the Americans, but I find it a bit pompus. Charles Dickens has good beer, food and company. Greyhouse is excellent - good quality ale, small and very friendly. Some of the locals though need to stop staring at newcomers! Need to keep up with the name changes but the Old White Swan (Hogs Head) is a very good young pub.
  • The White Hart (aka GK's) used to be a great place to go for a few drinks, until it was bought out by a chain and is now pretty much just a restaurant
  • Poor range of pubs, especially since the Hare closed. Poor crowds in most ranging from bigoted tories, hooray henries trying to be 'street', or herds of film school students talking about themselves loudly over a single half of cidar and black. Yawn.
  • The pub in the new town is now owned by Bar Med.
  • The Old Hare is now shut down, aparently being turned into ANOTHER Pizza place
  • Your comment on the Red Lion is out of date. Three years ago a new Landlord took over and has developed a friendly local atmosphere. I would recommend this pub to anyone who enjoys good beer, conversation in a fun and relaxed environment.
  • there are any good pubs around... there should b sort of more pubby things like bar med around but where u can get like non-alcoholic drinks 4 teenagers...
  • In the Old Town. The Old Hare is cheap (Lager from 1.65/pint & bitter from 1.50/pint). Popular with 18-30 year olds. The Charles Dickens is average priced, cask bitter is good, and it’s truly popular with all age groups. The Greyhound is expensive and more upmarket, cask bitter here is very good and it appeals to an older crowd. The White Swan is average priced, cask bitter is good, it is popular with all age groups. The Saracens is expensive, noisy and dirty. Popular with the younger locals who come to drink lager and alcopops. In the New Town. Bar Med is a café in the day and an expensive bar/night club at nighttimes, holds a late license.

  • If your under 18 dont bother going to the pubs, you'll only drink lager anyway. So go to an offie and get some cans, rather than annoy us.
  • The Charles Dickens in Aylesbury End must have the largest selection of beers on tap in the town.
  • old white swan - a youngish pub, nice people, nice staff. prince of wales - if there were a prize for worst pub in the country, i think this would win. old hare - nice seats. greyhound - cosy, small garden but quite quiet most nights, one of the cheapest places around.
  • It would be advisable to avoid the Old Hair as Fran the Landlady has the social and management skills of a demented six year old
  • The Crown at nearby Penn is very popular with a variety of age groups. It serves a wide variety of food and has quite a lot of parking space.
  • the old white swan in the old town is the place to be.
  • The White Horse (aka Chesterfields). Only for the under-16s, until it changed hands about 5 years ago.
  • Loads. The Old White Swan (old town) has recently become popular with the younger clientele, at least since the Saracen's refurbishment which meant that everyone went off and found another local. Unfortunately for them.
  • The Red Lion, Forty Green is great if you are a) looking for a friendly pub, or b) 16-20 and have nowhere else to go. Music and pool 'til late most nights
  • Nearby Forty Green has the Royal Standard of Old England which claims to be world famous and from the thirteenth century or thereabouts. Homemade cold pies are superb. The (hot) Beef and Oyster pie is to die for.
  • Charles I hid out in this pub as he fled to France from Oliver Cromwell after the defeat in the English Civil War; 17th Century I think.
  • Loads in Old Town like the Charles Dickens, White Horse, the Stag and the Saracen's Head.
  • Plenty in the old town good = The Ol;d Hare Trendy with the youngsters = The Saracens Head
  • The Old Hare The Greyhound The Charles Dickens The White Hart The Saracens Head The White Horse
