| Can anybody in Bebington help me please???

by Nik (Member 10261693) on 25-May-2011

Hi my name is Nick
I wonder if anybody could help me please
This is a very long shot in the dark. near impossible but I feel I have to try.
I am trying to trace somebody I once had contact with. I live in Southend on Sea in Essex and met a girl called Nicky who came from Bebington in Liverpool in the late 1980's whilst out with friends one night. Unfortunatly it was Nicky's last night in Southend as she was down here visiting a friend and was due to go home the next day we exchanged addresses so we could keep in touch with each other. We did write to each other a couple of times Unfortunatly My family's house suffered a fire and we lost most of our Possessions incuding everything from my bedroom including Nicky's letters!! I was devestated I had no way of contacting her again. The sad thing about it is I can't remember the road she used to live down or her second name. I do know she must be in her late 30's early 40's by now. Her Friend in Southend I belive used to live in Elmsleigh drive (not sure though) we both met in a pub called the caddyshack. Nicky has never been far from my mind I have always wanted to try and find her to explain why I never replied to her last letter. if Anybody knows of a Nicky who lived in Bebington who had a or still has a Friend living in Southend on sea and remembers meeting me and writting to me a couple of times I would really love to hear from her.
Please feel free to pass my email on NIK22@HOTMAIL.CO.UK ... more >>

| Bebington Old Boy looking for "old" mates

by Rod Taylor (Member 10253773) on 1-Nov-2010

Hi
My name is Rod Taylor. Used to live in Rocklands Ave, by the Oval and then Bickerton Ave, off Kings Lane.
Went to Grove St, Calday Grammar and worked at Girlings, Laird Shiprepair, and a few others!
Was at Quaintways for many years, booking the bands.
Used to look after a band in Bebington, called Kaspers Engine.
Nickname at school was "Codge".

Hi. Kaspers engine used a fire engine I think? Norman Yardley was the lead singer (my brother in law) He has his own pad in Higher Bebington, drinks at the Travellers Rest very late every night. Still does a bit of impromptu stuff I think.

Wow I was beginning to think I would never get a reply.I remember you, did you live next door to Phillip Williams in Heather road? I'm married and live in New Zealand now. Was over a couple of years ago and regret not catching up with Jean but i had no way of knowing where she was.I would be pleased if you could email me and let her know I only have fond memories of her. Thanks so much for replying Jean. Yours John Formston (formerly of 2,Hazel Grove) ... more >>

Hi John
Yes I did live by Philip. I am still living in Bebington up near The George. Jean was thrilled to hear from you. It's funny, because she was only talking about you a few weeks ago. Apparently her cousin had been talking to Gary Spencer and I think he had mentioned your name. Didn't Malcolm Threadgill, and the Myers family emigrate to NZ. We knew that you had re-married but weren't too sure where you were. Jean asks if you have a family over in NZ. I am in touch with quite a lot of folk from the Brackenwood mainly due to living near to the British Legion. Di Green (as was) is the Steward there. It is frequented by John and Cath Darlington, Hilary Williams, Micky Hill, doubtless you also remember these old friends. Is there any other message I can pass to Jean. We speak to each other every day and usually go out for a meal once a month. I am sure she would love to hear what you are up to. Keep in touch Love Jean ... more >>

Hi Jean,
Thanks for taking the time to reply, what a good friend Jean has in you. I had a wonderful child hood. We never had alot but it matter. Funny enough I found Gary while looking for Jean on the nowwhere guide. I've been trying to ring him but because he's retired now he's probably gadding about.I will catch up with him soon! Didn't know Malcolm threadgill had moved over here or the Myers. Emma my eldest lives the bottom of Higher beb road,my twins Suzie and Sally live Kinds road and Asterfield Cath's boy David lives in South molten Devon. They,ve all been out when we lived on the South Island. we recently moved to Auckland (the North Island). we are 500m from the beach in a place called Maraetai, which means "meeting place by the sea" So as they say "life is a beach" I remember so many of my childhood/teen friends, the Bracky was just the best place for kids and teens.I should have told Jean how much I thought of her,but I didn't. If I win Lotto maybe I will take you both out for dinner.for a good old catchup. Ijust had a flash back to when I started working shift work at Capenhurst.I used to get a lift of a man who lived by you,he had a Volkswagon Beatle, who would that be??? Use my email address johnfnz@gmail.com if you prefare Jean I remember all the people you meantioned and so many more. Bye for now.I'm so happy about this.JohnX ... more >>

I would very much like to remember her name and if possible, find a way of contacting her....
Any help would be gratefully recieved.

I've now discovered/remembered that her name was Miss Allen.
She taught in the first classroom on the right hand side as you go in to the science block.
If anyone knows how I may contact her, I would be very grateful....

I have just read your posting. Your relative Amy Williams was my great aunt. My grandmother (Amy's sister) lived at 6 Mill Terrace where I was born. My cousins Ann and Tony were born and brought up in No.4. As far as I am aware Amy moved to Wigan following her marriage and i am sure you will still have surviving relatives there. On speaking to my cousins, the only market garden we remember was on Teehey Lane and belonged to another great aunt, May. If you want any further information please let me know, what I can't remember I will ask my cousins. ... more >>

| Anyone Heard of This?

by phonefun (Member 10234964) on 30-Jan-2009

Funny as anything. All sorts of randoms on it
It's basically a landline telephone number you can ring. 0870 755 0872.
Where you get put into a waiting facility, it then connects you to another caller, you say hello, and they can choose whether to talk to you, or put you back in the queue because they don't like the sound of you or whatever hahaha.
Like a chat room with a private chat facility, but in phone terms? and it's free if you are BT Home user (as calls to 0870 numbers now free)
The number is 0870 755 0872
