• Al Murray (the Pub Landlord guy) used to attend Bedford School, as did Alistair Cook (England opener for cricket) and Monty Panesar (England spin bowler for cricket) attended Bedford Modern School.

• Carol Voderman was born in Bedford, her Dad still lives here. Also Ronnie Barker was born in Garfield Street! Comedy Dave (from Radio 1) went to Bedford Modern School as Did Al Murray (the pub landlord guy you all keep mentioning) Michael Crawford (Frank Spenser) used to live in village just outside Bedford. The cricket guy whose just become famous recently from Bedford Modern again. Who forget Charles Wells!!!!!!!!! The Whitbred family. Cleo Lane lives just outside Bedford. Umm can't think of anymore for the moment apart from the obvious John Bunyan & John Howard and the anti-arpathide man with his bust in silver street (I think it's Terrence something) of course that was unveiled by Nelson Mandella! Cecil Higgins. Oh of course BATMAN!!!!!! wow there are loads, still hope for me then!!!haha

• I can confirm that comdey character 'The Pub Landlord' - real name Al Murray - did go to Bedford School. I was there with him at the time, and he was pretty funny back then too. Damn good drummer to boot. John Sessions went to Bedford Modern School, as I recall. I have never heard of Stephen Fry being at any of the schools in Bedford; I would think it unlikely anyway, as he is originally from Norfolk (still has a home there I believe). I did once, however, nearly run him down as he crossed Regent Street in central London - my what a mover! Paddy Ashdown (ex-Liberal Democrat leader) also went to Bedford School. He made a return visit whilst I was there and gave my class a history leason. By an amazing co-incidence I went to college in London with Paddy Ashdown's son Simon. Small world, eh? Eddy 'the eagle' Edwards is indeed another Bedford resident. I once saw him shuffling forlornly through Boots in the Harpur Centre.

• Eddie the Eagle Edwards opened Sharnbrook Village Fete a few years back. Me and my mates met the head writer on Home and Away in Bedford Bus Station 5 years ago. He'd missed his train to Birmingham. Poor sod.
